《One man army in a marvel universe》Oh devil take my hand, take me to the promised land

As I was lazily relaxing on the bed, it felt really nice all this alone time after so long. "Mabey I should freak out more often if I get this long of a vacation from everyone." I started to hummed a tune as I waited, I could hear a faint sound of a measure set of footsteps making their way to my cell.
"Well, looks like things are going to start. Showtime, as they say in the biz... wait do they even say that here? Hmmm." As I was contemplating my utter lack of knowledge on this world celebrities and Hollywood. Finding out that I had completely neglected any fanciful hobbies, in my pursuit of power and safety of my family was a little surprising.
In the mists of my questioning my life choices. I looked over at the Special Agent, I was under the faint impression that he would either offer me my salvation or my damnation. No doubt, it would all depend on how our talk would play out. For the first few minutes, we just stared at each other, giving a silently measuring analysis of the best approach to each other.
He was of average height, dark brown hair with a few faint traces of grey on his sides. His pale blue eyes held some mischief and yet, there also seem to hold some deeper darkness underneath. I felt a distinct chill crawl up my spine, it seemed my heightened sense was telling me to be wary of him. He was relatively handsome not the best looking around but certain women with daddy issues would be all over the guy. Despite his advanced age, he was in incredible shape. His posture betrayed the posture of a very skilled fighter, not someone your average soldier could takedown.
"So, kid you got a choice. We can do this the hard way or." He lifts a box and a tray with two coffees. "We can do it the fun way. So what is going to be, kid?" He had a wide grin filled with mischief.
Even if every nerve in my mind was screaming not to trust him for some reason. I found myself liking the guy. Mirroring his crooked grin, I go up from my bed wave my arm toward it. "Please come in, sorry that I can't offer better hospitality but as you can see. I'm lacking in furniture, I would love to talk about all this terrible miss understanding, over some coffee and donuts."
He let out a small chuckle. "Okay, kid let me lay a few things down just so you can understand your situation before we move on. Number one, you're already on thin ice kid, any sudden movements that are considered a sign of aggression in any way. Will be a first-class ticket, to a full-blown criminal traitorous target on your head. Number two, I'm the one person you want...no need, on your side since the next little talk, will determine how your situation will evolve. So nod if you understand everything."
I didn't have to mask my surprise since all this was given under a warm smile. But underneath it all, I could sense the cold detachment from this agent. I had a distinct impression, that this man was the type to make some very cold calculating decision, all the while having a smile and laughing as he talked to his victims. If I didn't have my heightened sense, I would've been fooled in minutes under his terrifying facade.
My smile melted away as the reality came crashing down on me. "Yeah, I understand, crystal clear sir." I say losing all my previous mirth, and my relaxed all-knowing outlook.

"Good." He then presses a few buttons and opened the door to my cell. "Well, come along let go to a nicer place so we can talk." He then turned his back to me and walk like he had no worries in the world.
Not gonna lie, just that nonchalance terrified me since from the very beginning, his emotion hadn't spike once. They remained cold. Yeah, this wasn't someone I wanted to easily fuck with, since he could be a major pain in the ass to takedown. How such a monster manages to stay hidden in SHIELD for so long. I had no clue, and I wasn't going to go looking for the reason not yet anyway.
As we made our way up, I spotted various heavily armed groups. Checking my memories of all the agents I had seen since walking around. I summarise that I was now in the middle of a heavily fortified web formation, with layer upon layer of people pointing lots of dangerous weapons in my direction. I was confident in breaking out if the need arises, but the price would be high and I would be helpless in uncovering more than I was comfortable at this moment.
("Well shit, looked like that whatever is going to be presented to me, is going to be cooperating with SHIELD as my only option.") I gritted my teeth in frustration, looked like SHIELD or is it HYDRA are finding me a little too appealing. I couldn't wait to finally get some distance from all these assholes. Or just get enough power to swat away all the flies buzzing around me.
We made our way to the roof, in the middle there were two plastic chairs. Along with a metal barrel with a fire already lit inside, a few logs on the side. A small table between the two chairs completed the whole set. Looking around and pushing my senses out, I could make out that no one was on the roof. At least no one I could sense, I did notice that surrounding the roof was at least three building that would make wonderful sniper nest spots. Not to forget the complete lack of cover on the roof.
"So, how many are watching us right now?" Turning to the agent, I didn't even bother hiding the fact that I knew I was surrounding and not going anywhere soon.
"Plenty, but the roof is clear of all but us two. All I need to do is send a signal, and you're blasted by several teams of elite snipers. Until then we talk, you have a choice kid. It's either knife down or knives out. Your either going to be walking away with me off this roof, or you're going to be drag away forfeiting any semblance of a normal life forever.
I froze for a moment when I learn this bit. I hadn't expected him in answering me so openly on my current crossroad. As I watch him making the final few steps and sitting down in the chair. He places the box of donuts on the table, took a gup of coffee and threw a log in the barrel. Sitting back making himself comfortable he then pointedly ignored my presence.
Taking a deep breath I made my way to the waiting chair. Once I was sitting down, I just stared in the fire waiting to see what came next. For the first few minutes, I waited with tense shoulders. I knew that all this was a tactic but damn wasn't it effective. Finally, I broke ending this little contest that I had lost.

"So lay it out for me, what the verdict, you've already cemented that I'm not in control so just be quick with the damn band-aid." I was frustrated that even if I had a good idea of what they wanted, I had never expected all this. If it was this agent who set it up, then it was clear that I was outmatched in the negotiating of a better deal.
"You fuck up." Was the first thing he said. Narrowing my eyes in his direction. I gritted my teeth in frustration. It looks like, I was going to be forced to listen to some bull before he got to the heart of the matter.
Taking a deep breath in order to calm down, from what was for sure to be a frustrating discussion. "Please enlighten me, oh wise nameless agent, on where I fuck up."
He smirks almost like he found my reaction amusing. Turning toward me his amusement suddenly disappeared only to be replaced by a dead-serious expression. "You left too many trails for us to find. The name is John Allen Adams, you can call me John. Right now I am your only hope at salvation." The confident smirk he had, after his introduction almost made me slap the fucker.
"Too many trails please, it took the black widow walking in my office in order for me to get on your radar. Hell, if she hadn't needed my help that day, I could've cruize a few more years undetected." Opening the box I took note of my choices of donuts.
He nodded, his smile never leaving his face. "Account number 23xxxxx87 under the name of Paul Bonnet Swiss bank. That was only one of the several names that had been flag in connection to you as Sandman." The expectant look he gave me full of glee along with his knowing grin as my jaw drop in surprise. Almost had me smashing my fist cave in his face, and making a run for it.
Of course, I had way more secret stash and names hidden away. Just the fact that they had one name with all that info spoke volumes on just how close they were to finding me a year ago. "Okay, you got me on that front but what does it have to do with my current situation?" I mean yeah, it was impressive but now that I was under the SHIELD umbrella. It hardly matters in the grand scheme of thing.
"Kid, it the same problem you have from day one. You've underestimated everyone else and overestimated your own ability, leaving yourself vulnerable to be exploited by others. Just look at the clusterfuck you're under right now, if you had paid attention to things, it wouldn't have exploded in such a way."
Giving him a furious look. "Don't, you dare try that bull around me. You know damn well that this was the only outcome possible. Especially since those vultures want what in my head at any price." I hiss at him, trying to downplay my situation saying that I wasn't clever enough in seeing the hidden invisible test.
Unlike what I was expecting he didn't seem to be angry at my blatant dislike of SHIELD. In fact, he seemed please with my emotion of frustration and anger against my current masters. Then it clicks, he was a fricking HYDRA agent. Making a quick look in my memory, I couldn't remember this man. Damn it, again my half-baked past life memory was of no use to me in my situation.
He chuckles, he seemed mighty pleased with my outburst. "True SHIELD fuck up, but that not important right now. What is important, is that they want the functioning super-soldier serum you have in your blood right now. If you don't play ball then you become a living breathing lab rat for them to poke and prod for life."
Standing up in force, my chair went flying crashing on the roof. I was looking down in anger, but inside I was laughing. ("These arrogant assholes think that I don't know that the council isn't infested by HYDRA. I got no doubt that the real mastermind behind all of my annoyance is those fuckers. Well looks like this little creep, is here to both tell me the terms and recruit me into HYDRA. Not a bad idea, too bad they fuck up. Sending me this agent provides an opportunity in testing some things. Also, it could be a way to get some intel on these fucking parasites from the inside. Not something to decide now Ill have to weigh my option later.")
Breathing heavily, waking up that dormant constant rage inside, I had it surfaced just a little letting it radiate outside. I had to sell it, I couldn't look too eager in taking this deal. I knew of SHIELD plans had for me, I had to say I was delighted with my future training regime. It was more the HYDRA part I wasn't so sure about. It didn't matter since I no longer was being forced into playing training dummy in fact, this new program had me as the VIP.
I continued my infuriated act, I rage, screamed but never got too close, so that any sniper didn't get sudden itchy fingers. We traded words, I offered several counters only to be shot down. I played the perfect role of the increasingly desperate angry agent. Only to finally drag my plastic chair back closer to the fire barrel. I crumpled down in my seat, staring out in the distance.
As the sunrise slowly greeted us to a new day. I turn to my new companion. "This isn't right, what you offer me isn't a choice. It a lifetime sentence, SHIELD will never leave me alone." I let my desperation out no need of faking this emotion, it had been something I had felt for some time. If it wasn't for my future possible knowledge that SHIELD would eventually crumble. I would've begun in taking much more desperate action.
"That the thing kid life isn't fair, it wasn't fair for you and your younger brother when your parents died. It wasn't fair when Hammer and Stark ruin any chance you had in the tech world. And it not fair when you gain power, others are willing to do whatever in order to get it. You see, the system, we live in is like that if you have something it wants. It's going to do anything, all so that it can get it. You can fight it sure, but it's so much easier and better if you simply join the cause. At least this way you get the benefits, so stop trying to find a way out and just embrace the pain." He ended by gently patting my shoulder in a sign of sympathy.
Oh my fucking God, this guy is bat shit crazy. How has no one figured him out? Well if I didn't know he was trying to recruit me, his little speech would've stayed in the back of my mind to only slowly fester. I nodded my head, gave him a few agreements on his points and I finally agreed, on the demands of the council. He then told me he would walk me back to my cell afterwords, he would give them the good news. He told me that someone would be by soon, with the new contract to sign. Once that was done I would begin my new training.
I got up and walk back to my cell without making a fuss. He keeps talking the whole way, telling me all kinds of stories about one mission or another. He jumped around from some of the actions he saw to women he laid with. By the time I got back to my cell, I had to hold back from snapping his weak little neck. All so that I could get some peace and quiet.
Once he gave his final farewell, promising that we would see each other soon. I just knock my head against the wall doing my other most from not laughing out loud at the stupidity of my enemies. Finally, I was going to get exactly what I had wanted. These idiots will turn me into a spy, giving me all the tools I would need in order to destroy them in the future.
I held back the laugh, the devilish grin on my face grew wider as my razor-sharp fangs morph in my mouth, as the image of their faces filled with despair as they finally realize their mistake. My body trembled at the anticipation and excitement for that day. "I will have my vengeance." I whispered.

8 1562Mana Soul
Like many others across the multiverse, Markus was chosen as this world's hero to fight against the steadily approaching cataclysm. Only, something went horribly wrong. Left with only a handful of memories, Markus has spent years clawing his way up from poverty and officially registered as an adventurer to try and make his fortune. Unfortunately, Artificers are the least combat-capable class of the four classes, and Markus has no connections to join an established party. With the fate of countless worlds hanging in the balance, a chance meeting will determine the course of a war nearly as old as reality itself. Warning: Markus has trauma induced amnesia and will occasionally 'act out of character' or make 'poorly thought out' decisions. These events are rather obvously telegraphed abd represent conflicts between his current personality and the one repressed alongside his trauma. Just something to bear in mind. The story will bounce predominantly back and forth between the primary protagonists every couple of chapters. The time stream is linear, so events are not revisted/rehashed/retold through the narrative format. Characters may comment on something that has occurred, but that's different. Just giving a heads up.Chapters will be around 7-9k and updated 1/week on the same schedule as my other story Ogre Tyrant over the weekend.[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
