CHAPTER 2
I Hate This Hidden Class.
"Poor, Normal, Rare, Epic, Legendary.
Long ago, the 5 ratings existed together in harmony.
Then, everything changed, when Lost got a Poor rated class."
"..."
'Ugh this is lame.'
Lost has just got the Monster Eater class.
'I get that it's a growth type class, and that it will be better along with time.'
"But can't you at least give me a normal rated one!?" Lost shouted to the sky.
He is now complaining like a little kid whose parents threw away the pencil when it got too short but he wanted to sharpen it all the way.
'I've never heard of a Poor rated class before, even the starter classes are normal rated!'
'This is why I didn't play RPGs back then, nothing makes sense!'
Sigh...
'Ok to be fair I'm dumb, can't blame the games.'
'Anyways, talking about dumb..'
Blob, blob.
The smell similar to that of soapy adhesive entered Lost's nose. He heard the same sound he has heard for the last fifteen minutes.
'Those slimes are here again.'
Lost is currently in Hootan, a forest known as the 'noob' forest, due to its low-leveled monsters. It is covered in ferns and greenery, as well as pine trees that reach the sky. You can hear the sounds of birds chirping as they soar in the sky.
Blob, blob.
From the behind of a tree, three slimes wobbled and moved towards Lost.
'Only three? Oh well.'
"Who's ready for another slime asmr?"
dash!
"DIE!"
"Blob!"
[You have dealt 5 damage!]
[You have taken 2 damage!]
[You have taken 3 damage...]
[You have dealt........]
It wasn't an ASMR. It was not in any way, shape, or form quiet. However, it was satisfying for Lost.
[You have defeated a Slime!]
[You have leveled up to level 7!]
[You have obtained the title 'Slime Slayer'!]
Lost pointed his right arm onto the liquid corpse of the slime.
"Lesser Devour!"
From his arm, a dark shadow emerged and enveloped the whole arm. The shape of his hand then distorted, it became a mouth, not forgetting the details of teeth and tongue to further embed on his disgust.
[You have failed to absorb a skill/characteristic from Slime.]
After the notification, his arm reverted back to normal.
"Well that was disgusting!"
"Again, Lesser Devour!"
[You have failed to absorb a skill/characteristic from Slime.]
'Ok, one more before I run out of mana.'
"Lesser Devour!"

[You have absorbed a characteristic 'Viscous Body'!]
A smile appeared on Lost's face. However it didn't last very long.
"Wait that doesn't sound desireable, at all."
Viscous Body Characteristic
A primitive body of unknown origin. It has a thick, viscous texture. As it is not bound by limbs, the evasion rate is a bit higher than the human body.

"Ew. But at least it sounds advantageous.. maybe."
'Let's try equipping it.'
[You have equipped the characteristic Viscous Body on your right arm.]
"Yep. Ew."
['Viscous Body' has turned into 'Hungry Viscosity'!]
"..?"
Hungry Viscosity Characteristic
The characteristic of a viscous Body that due to compability with a Monster Eater's Hungry Arm, has evolved. It is now a slimey substance that can dissolve objects.
"..."
'So I'm a discount R*muru now huh?'
'Also, did I get a title just now?'
"Hm?"

"Better equip this then!"
[You have equipped the title 'Slime Slayer'.]
"Hohoho! This makes things easier."
He started walking. In the middle of that, he suddenly stopped.
'Oh wait my mana is empty. Better rest.'
Lost then walked into a fence gate. It had a wooden sign that said 'Warning, big bad slime!' next to it.
"This is it."
[You have entered the Boss Area!]
It was a land filled with short grass and ferns, bordered by what seems like the fence used by ordinary cattlemen. When he entered, there was a thick scent of a mass-produced menthol shampoo mixed by the smell of commercial bar soap. The source of this was a big blob of thick viscocity. It was bigger than most slimes, around three times larger.

inhales...
"YO SQUIRMY FATSO!"
[Slime King has noticed you.]
[Slime King is in an enraged state, Slime King can only deal basic attacks.]
"Good."
[Slime King has summoned Slimes!]
"Even better."
"Blob, blob!"
"Let the grindfest begin!"
Lost began striking the slimes one by one with his only weapon, the Hungry Arm. Each time he struck down a slime, another would strike him from behind. He then would turn a part of him into a viscous liquid, increasing his evasion rate.
[You have dealt 12 damage!]
[You have dealt 9 damage!]
[You have dealt 11 damage!]
[You have dealt 9...]

.
[You have defeated a Slime!]
[You have defeated a Slime!]
[You have defeated a Slime!]
Notifications kept popping up in Lost's screen.
A slime has what is called a slime core in the middle of its viscous body. It is the only weakness of a slime. However, these cores are very fragile, which makes it easier for players to hunt slimes.
A slime king however has two cores, in which the other is located inside the first one. They are called outer core and inner core. The outer core acts as a protective layer for the inner core, it is more durable than regular slime cores. The inner core is surrounded by a viscous body similar to the one outside of the outer core, however it is much thicker as its function is to guard the inner core from colliding with the walls of the outer.
Once the outer core breaks, the viscous body inside said core will merge with the one outside. Once this happens, the slime will be slower and weaker. To get through this, the slime constantly rotates the spherical outer core to prevent buildup of damage in one area. Lost knows this, that was why he was glad to receive the 'Slime Analysis' skill.
[You have defeated a Slime!]
[You have dealt 8 damage!]
[You have defeated a Slime!]
"Not so tough are you now?"
[You have defeated a Slime!]
[You have defeated a Slime!]
[You have defeated a Slime!]
[You have dealt 10 damage!]
"Blob.. blob.."
Lost kept running and jumping to make sure he hits the same spot, building up damage on the core.
Crack!
Break!!
When the spot Lost kept attacking broke, the rest became dissolved.
"Heh."
Lost leaped forward and threw his arm towards the now weakened Slime King.
"Let's do this, Hungry Arm!"
[You have defeated Slime King!]
[You have obtained a 'Slime King's Crown'!]
"Now, Lesser Devour!"
[You have failed to absorb a skill/characteristic from Slime King.]
"..Tch."
.
.
.
Saleima, a populated town in the west continent. It is a town filled with low-level players. One of the most popular facilities this town provides is the Adventurer's Guild. This is the only hope for the low-leveled to quickly earn exp. It was a brightly colored place, with reds and blues covering the roofs of each building, as well as fountains and trees that are placed strategically as to increase the aesthetic of the location. The town's architecture seemed to have traditional german influences.
Inside of the adventurer's guild, there were round tables arranged perfectly in a grid of 6x3. Each table provided 6 seats most of which are used by players as party meeting locations. There was a waitress who brought beer-like beverages to the tables, as well as a receptionist, who sat behind the front desk.
"Hey look, it's that guy again."
"Has it been the 27th time?"
"What are you talking about?"
"That guy, he keeps taking the same slime quest."
"Oh really, why isn't he taking a harder quest?"
"Yeah, taking a level 1 quest all the time isn't gonna help him level."
'I can hear you assholes...'
Lost walked to the receptionist.
"Here's the 'Slime King's Crown', give me my reward."
"Thank you for completing the quest!"
[You have obtained 50 feoh!]
[You have earned 100 exp!]
Lost sighed.
"Look here, assholes. The reason I'm doing the same quest over and over again is because I got a poor-rated class, ever heard of that before?” Lost’s eyes looked down, as he felt sorry for himself.
“Bet all my money you haven’t. it's the crappiest hidden class in the world, which gives me no combat skills whatsoever…” His eyes became watery, he almost broke down crying.
“I have to earn... everything... through a skill…., and that's AFTER I defeat the monsters. I can't even kill a darn wolf right now, and that's why I'm doing this quest. It's literally the only one I can do!" Lost was angry. He was trying not to blame the game for giving him such a tedious growth class, but he couldn’t stop. He wanted to scream on top of his lungs. But he held it in, he didn’t want others to think he was insane.
He then sat down on an empty table, and thought to himself.
'Oh... I hate this class.'

A Broken World [Rewrite]
In a world of floating islands of stone in the sky, where rivers flow through the air and defy gravity from one island to another, and ancient ruins can be found containing wonders beyond what can be produced by the lands current inhabitants- a millenia long war rages. In the distant past, beyond recorded history, when the crown of humanity's glory, the city of Uri, had stood whole against the enroaching demon swarms- even as hope seemed lost, a band of heroes, against all odds, managed to steal powerful magical knowledge from the demons. With the demon's forbidden knowledge, in the heart of Uri a new ritual was made. Called, "The Millenial Summoning," the ritual had the power to call a being from another world that would have the power to change the world forever. The first being summoned became known as "The Speaker," and he brought the power of the Gods to the world. With the blessings and power of the new priests, the unstoppable demon hordes were finally halted. A thousand years later, the ritual was used again and "The First Sorceress" was brought to the world. She brought the knowledge of advanced magics, and techniques to find and refine magical talent. With the magic power now added to the battlefield, the stalemate was broken. And for the first time, the demons were pushed back. Another thousand years later, and all of humanites hope for a final victory were dashed. Traitors slew the ritual's participants and took their places, and humanity quaked as The Demon King stepped into the world. His name, his nature, where he came from none of these are known, but what is known is his overwhelming power and his brilliant strategic leadership of the formerly formless hordes. Still, despite their position being even more dire than it has ever been since history has been recorded, humanity held on for another thousand years. Aided, thankfully, by The Demon King not taking the field after the first few years and battles. Now, the ritual is being cast again and a new hero is being summoned. In our world, after nearly three decades of study and hard work, Lucas Jaeger is making his dreams come true. With a double doctorate in both genetics and microbiology, as well as an associates degree in accounting, he has finally, after nearly driving himself mad from stress and sick from overwork, been able to put to together a presentation and ask for a business loan. His long time dream, earned by his own blood and sweat, to start his own commercial genetic company is finally coming to fruition. Lucas's car never left the banks parking lot and Lucas was never seen again in our world. This is a rewrite of "A Broken World." It is basically the same story, just a thousand times better and with decent length chapters!
