《I Can Respawn In The Apocalypse》Chapter 68: Birdman
Advertisement
A beast type awakened, named Birdman by many in the age of the Apocalypse. However, they like beings called Angels.
Awakened which turned into birdmen have a common attack method of Guerilla Warfare.
These awakened are one of the most annoying beasts types.
For they commonly use the tactic of picking something extremely heavy off the ground than flying to a height where guns will become highly ineffective and then start dropping items such as boulders, Cars, Trucks and sometimes even drop Zombies.
These Birdmen are one of the kinds of awakened that no survivor camp wishes to offend.
For these awakened are in the sky rendering close combat ineffective and even long-ranged awakened attacks aren't useful against them for they have a sixth sense for danger like all other beast types and their flight speed is insanely quick. They generally can escape at any time and when they attack you can only defend. Meaning they are a natural Guerilla Warfare soldier.
These Awakened also have the bird's instinct of living in a flock. Meaning after a while these awakened will form groups and when they do all their enemies will be in for endless annoying Guerilla attacks. But because of there birds instinct they generally only like living together with there own kind and dislike living with human survivors because humans hate them because of they're bad reputation.
They have a bad reputation of being by far the most annoying group of awakened.
Their reputation comes from when they annoyed the hell out of a Survivor Camp and caused them to disband.
The story goes like this, there was once upon a time a Powerful Survivor Camp who pissed off a Birdman when they stole his Prey. The birdman escaped after being hunted down by the Survivors and came back with a group of 10 Birdmen. These guys started dropping cars every single day into the Camp Grounds. The survivor camp never received a peaceful night of sleep since then. After a while, the Birdmen started throwing Zombies into the camp infecting the normal survivors and making the place unsafe to live in they then started contaminating the water supply of the Camp with Zombie Blood, as well as setting fire to there buildings. They used so many annoying tactics as well, for example, they used the sky above the Survivor Camp as there public toilet and every once in a while something nasty falls. Basically bird poop on a whole new scale.

Eventually, the Survivor camp decided to give in to whatever demands the birdmen had and gave the birdmen the body of the Tier 5 Mutant Beast which they kill stole from them. But the camp also devised a plan to get revenge at the birdmen to make sure the birdmen would stay forever gone.
The survivor camp had a Nuclear Bomb which it found after going through many difficulties so they decided to use it against them. They knew that they couldn't hit the birdmen under normal circumstances so they had decided to get revenge by putting the bomb inside the body of the Beast which they gave to them.
When the birdmen lifted the body off the ground the Bomb went off leaving nothing in the vicinity surviving.
Although they got rid of the Birdmen it was with a huge loss to them, for they did suffer huge losses. They had to suffer nonstop harassment by the Birdmen the loss of a couple of important buildings, the loss of trust from survivors who took the camp as a shelter and the Tier 5 Beast Corpse as well as a Nuclear Bomb.
But not all the Birdmen came to pick up the corpse of the beast and had grouped with a new flock and got revenge on the Camp so bad that they had to eventually disperse the camp and go there separate ways.
After this story got out most survivor camps decided to put offending a Birdman as last resort. But they also put birdmen on there blacklist meaning they wanted the birdmen to stay clear of there area or else they will use all means to get rid of them as fast as possible before they have a chance to cause too big of a loss to them.
It is because of this that Birdmen are usually a group of awakened which are frowned upon and hated. But because 1 birdman usually leads to a group of birdmen and them using Guerilla Tactics is going to mess up the lives of Survivors most try to stay as far away from them as possible.

But now there is a Birdman who threw a Car at me...
It most likely saw the evolution Core in my hands. It's gotten greedy and most likely wants to rob me of it.
I took my handy pocket knife and made a small incision on my hand and then spread my blood across the surface of the Core. After doing so I set it as a respawn point.
If this Birdman was to be greedy enough to try stealing this core then I will beat the crap out of him up when I get my hands on him.
Suddenly the birdman rushes at me and when on top of me he drops the second car he was holding onto.
"Fuck! This guy is dead!"
I quickly take the evolution Core in my hand and threw it off the bridge towards the East River.
The Birdman suddenly panics for a second and then speeds off after the Evolution Core which is freefalling Towards the Water.
I know the Birdman will most definitely have enough time to catch the Core for a birdman's flight speed is extremely fast.
But once he does it's gonna be game over for him!
I quickly use another one of my cores and place it into a Car and created a Chain and Sickle.
Once I catch you I'll make you wish you were never born.
The birdman quickly dives for the Core and Catches it and then when it came back up gripping the Core I coldly smile at him and with the sickle I slit my throat.

On the Road to Elspar (Book 1)
The year is 1329. The Huntress' War has entered its tenth year, inflaming competing nationalisms and pitting the Confederacy of Caldrein against one of the continent's superpowers, the Tenereian Union. Desperately outnumbered, the Confederacy has relied on the prowess of its famed Caldran mercenaries, with highly-trained and experienced warbands returning from foreign conflicts to the defense of their homeland, and it is on their backs that Caldrein has successfully mounted a valiant defense for a decade. But they are losing, and day by day, with all the grace of a sledgehammer, the vast Tenereian armies take one more bit of Caldran territory, one footstep at a time. Sixteen-year-old Neianne from the village of Caelon has submitted herself to Faulkren Academy, one of the centuries-old institutions established to train the next generation of Caldrein's elite soldiers of fortune, to learn the ways of wars for three years before embarking upon the defense of her country. Her dryad family once hailed from reclusive woodland communes isolated from Caldrein's complicated mainstream society, and her upbringing leaves the shy village girl unprepared to suddenly train alongside other apprentices from backgrounds as low as the dirty slums of Caldrein's cities and as high as the halls of aristocratic power. Yet the war is eroding the norms and traditions that the Caldran people have long considered part of their national mythos, and the tensions within the confederacy that have long simmered under the surface - race, class, community, identity - are slowly but surely dividing its people, and Neianne must grow and discover who she really is, even as the war that she is steadfastly training for comes to its inexorable end... On the Road to Elspar is a fantasy quest - a work of interactive fiction wherein readers get to vote on what happens next at critical junctures - that is the first entry in a story that follows Neianne of Caelon, which first began on July 20, 2016. Originally a three-part in medias res prologue to a larger story titled On the Elsparian Road, it was eventually decided that this section - which covers Neianne's three years at Faulkren Academy - become its own independent story due to length, structural, and accessibility reasons. Despite this being a reader interactive work of fiction, due to logistical and verification concerns, voting will only be counted on its thread on the forum Sufficient Velocity, where this story originally began. As such, the content here on Royal Road serves as a story-only archive. You are, of course, entirely welcome to enjoy On the Road to Elspar as a conventional work of fiction, just as you are welcome to comment, discuss, and provide critique. But if you would like to participate in the voting, then I would be honored to welcome you on Sufficient Velocity. To facilitate accessibility and to ensure the best reading experience, this story-only version of On the Road to Elspar will be updated at a periodic pace, even though further content exists, so as to not overwhelm new readers on Royal Road. If you enjoy this story, wish to binge it, and/or want to participate in voting immediately, you may of course read all additional content via the link provided above. This paragraph will be removed once the content on Royal Road catches up with what has already been posted in its original thread. Cover artwork by DreamSyndd.

most writers don't have enough recognition. most of them only win awards based on the general aspects of a story; genre or theme, judged by the same things, not appreciating the genius behind the chapters. same awards, same results.--and we disagree with that.
