《Cultivators are extinct!》Chapter 23: A Brewing Storm

Inside a bus, that's currently parked in a bus terminal, was a driver who's waiting for the time for the bus to depart.
*ring*
"Just on time"
The bus driver mutters to himself as he starts the engines.
Despite having no passengers, due to earliness, the bus starts to depart.
"WAIT!!!"
The bus was already leaving so the shouting woman could not have reached it on time.
The bus leaves the terminal as a frazzled looking Elizabeth just reaches the waiting area.
"Noooooooo"
Elizabeth almost falls to her knees in despair but she remember's she's wearing her formal clothes so she refrains from falling down.
Behind her, is the extremely powerful Core Tempering Cultivator, Sparky.
He's wearing a clean suit that's a little bit too small for him.
He tries to make space for his neck since it's a little too stuffy. This suit was definitely for a smaller person.
Why does immortal have a suit bigger than her but smaller than me?
While Sparky was contemplating the intricacies of the human suit, Elizabeth was currently pacing around thinking.
"Crap... How will I explain this to Sheena! She's waiting for me at the hero's loan authority. If she can't provide a valid reason for a loan, she'll have to make do with her measly funds"
Elizabeth recalls being shown the agency's bank, it was barely enough to last for a 2 months.
After talking about it, Elizabeth and Sheena decided to apply for a loan, using Elizabeth's background as capital.
Ughh... Even now, my stupid father has a powerful influence on my life's success.
Elizabeth also thought about asking Carlo for a loan because he said would help her but....
She looks at the clueless Sparky.
I've already dealt with too many handsome men, can't I have a simple adventure without a supermodel.
It wasn't really about the looks but Elizabeth didn't want to rely on anyone but herself. She wouldn't accept being supported if she couldn't at least support herself.
"My immortal, is there a problem?"
Elizabeth looks at Sparky, who is now comfortable with his clothing.
"Yes... We're late on our schedule and my friend is waiting for me."
Sparky tilts his head.
"We could fly there my immortal, it would be far easier."
Elizabeth shakes her head.
"We can't. Only heroes or licensed individuals are authorized to fly. And in my case, I don't have the power to apply for one."
Sparky frowns.
"Why should we listen to them? We'll just beat up anyone who goes against us."
That mentality again.
Elizabeth sighs and speaks.
"That doesn't work here Sparky. There are rules and laws set in place that prevent the ruthless old fashioned thinking."
Sparky seems utterly confused and still reaches his hand out.
Elizabeth declines and says apologetically.
"Also, I don't want anyone to carry me while flying. I want to fly once I reach Core Tempering."

Sparky nods smiling. At first he wouldn't have cared for the opinion of others but now that his immortal clarified that she doesn't want to be carried, he stops asking.
Liar!
Elizabeth feels bad and starts berating herself.
That handsome Oliver just carried you a while ago!
Elizabeth asks Sparky for forgiveness in her mind as she thinks of a way to get to St. Davion's agency.
"Well my immortal, if you do not wish to fly. We can simply run."
Elizabeth nods.
"I also think that's the only choice left."
Within the dilapitated office of St. Davion's agency is a very jittery woman.
She was pacing around, biting her nails and is constantly looking at the door.
Every passing minute raised her anxiety levels through the roof.
This poor and scared girl was none other than St. Davion's descendant, Sheena.
She was currently thinking of Elizabeth and what they talked about a few days ago.
Oh my gods.
Don't tell me she isn't coming?
Was that all a lie to get my hopes up?
No! Elizabeth is such a kind person!
Sheena looks at the clock and sees that Elizabeth is 30 minutes past their agreement.
For a moment, Sheena looks down, obviously depressed.
She... She's not coming.
Her vision started to become dark as her breathing became erratic.
It's weird that despite being a meta human, she still suffers from physical weakness.
It's stupid but it's something that can plague even the strongest humans.
It's Anxiety, plain and simple.
Sheena's psychological state continues to deteriorate as she starts to think even more bad stuff.
*Knock*
*Knock*
*Knock*
Sheena's drowning heart suddenly gasps for air as she hears polite knocking behind.
Turning around with an invigorated soul, Sheena's jaw drops to the ground.
"Hello did an Elizabeth Rielle come here?"
A handsome and tall man wearing a black winter robe that covers his whole body walks in with a very reserved look.
"Uh...uh...um...We-"
The man was none other than Peter who found out that Elizabeth was planning on being affiliated with this hero agency.
Why am I here?
Peter was currently questioning himself. Why was he here?
Why did he want to involve himself with this girl who he randomly met at an intersection.
Was it the beauty?
No.
Was it her attitude?
No.... Maybe?
What is it then?
These were Peter's thoughts as he ignored Sheena's stuttering.
While Peter was looking around the shabby office, he internally smiled, respecting the vintage design that the office kept to respect St. Davion's original design.
Not too bad... It's a shame that it isn't well maintained.
Peter understood why though. According to the reports, the agency was falling apart so no matter how famous St. Davion is, the agency would eventually disappear if it wasn't well taken care off.
Before Peter could continue his thought process, he hears the small Sheena speak with an extremely emotional voice.

"WELCOME TO ST. DAVION'S AGENCY. THE HERO OF THE PAST IS ALSO THE HERO OF THE FU-"
Peter raises an eyebrow as he sees Sheena accidentally bite her tongue.
He asks politely.
"Are you okay?"
Sheena turns around, embarassed and in pain.
"Kyes"
She nods.
Then her eyes widen once more.
"Wait you're asking for Elizabeth?!"
Sheena's mood goes down once more as she remembers Elizabeth.
"Uh.. Um she's no-"
Peter raises an eyebrow, slightly annoyed that he might have wasted some of his precious weekend time trying to look for Elizabeth.
Philia will get mad at me if I take too long.
Peter is about to turn around when he hears a drop of liquid hit the ground.
He sees the weak willed Sheena quietly tearing up.
"Oh... It seems my eyes are watery again?"
Sheena turns around wiping them while muttering her own inadequacies.
It's not Peter's job to meddle with these things and frankly, he couldn't care less... But a small pang of guilt hits his relatively cold heart.
Sheena reminds him of Philia.
Sighing, Peter takes a seat on the office's old couch.
He calls Sheena's attention like how a human would call an animal.
"Huh?"
Sheena sees Peter sit down and is generally confused.
Wasn't he here for Elizabeth?
"Sit."
Peter's voice is calm and devoid of command but the strength in his voice is undeniable so Sheena takes a seat.
"I'll wait for Elizabeth. She's not a person who would break schedule unless it was not important."
Sheena looked at Peter and she knew that he barely knew her but she also knew that he had faith in her.
What am I even saying?! He's right! Elizabeth is a kind soul! I've been interacting with selfish people all the time, I've forgotten to differentiate the good from the bad!
Now with strengthened resolve, Sheena waits.
Inside a police station office, a superhero was interrogating another very downtrodden hero.
The interrogating hero is actually just asking but the atmosphere he's exuding says otherwise.
"Hmmm so you're saying that two shady individuals, one a naked man and another a tightly dressed woman, managed to knock you out in single blow?"
The previously glowing and zealous Golden boy is currently half buried in his own suit. He nods in his weakened state.
The powerful but nonchalant blow of Sparky ripped his armor a hole and forced his body to accomodate.
If not for Golden Boy's specialized technique, his body would have had a hole.
In front of this previously bright hero is a very scary looking individual.
With a perpetual smile on his face, Dark star studies the beaten hero.
Then he asks a question with an eerie air to him.
"How powerful was this man?"
"... I don't know... He was too powerful for a mere beast rank like me to measure."
Darkstar nods and his smile goes wider.
Goldenboy feels a shiver go down his spine as he stared at this beast in human skin.
Darkstar has always had a reputation. Goldenboy shivers at the thought of what would happen to that villain he met if Darkstar found him.
"Do you have a picture of this man?"
Golden boy hesitates for a moment but eventually relents.
Despite the rumors, Darkstar is still a hero and evildoers must be punished.
Goldenboy pulls out a small card that was installed inside his suit.
While it was similar to a core suit, Goldenboy's suit is so weak that it would be an insult to call it one.
"This is my suit's backup drive so that I could review fights or situations that I could find fault in myself."
Dark Start nods, chuckling.
Golden Boy once free of any hesitation or doubt, stands up.
"May I leave now Dark Star?"
Darkstar nods again.
"So you'll leave this villain to me Golden Boy?"
He asks in a singsong voice.
Golden Boy reluctantly agrees.
"Yes Dark Star but please excuse me, I need to report to my superior."
Dark Star nods, now satisfied.
*ring*
*ring*
"Sheena? Sorry I haven't reported for the whole day, I've been in a police station-"
The other side started to scream in worry as Golden Boy was bombarded by questions.
"Yes yes, I know. I'll be more careful. The suit... It's ruined but I can pay for it with my insurance so it won't cost the agency a single credit."
Golden boy hangs up and calls for an officer to sign him off.
The waiting officer starts to inform Golden Boy of the basic information and then asks an important question.
"Where is your agency again Golden Boy?"
"St. Davion's hero agency"
Golden Boy's body shakes as he feels a cold hand grab his shoulder.
He turns around and sees a very amused looking Dark Star.
"You're going to your agency right now?"
Golden Boy nods immediately because of his ignorance of the tensions between their respective agencies.
"Hmm I will join you. I should pay my respects to the descendant of Saint Davion."
Golden Boy suddenly beams.
"Huh really?!"
Golden Boy strives to appear similar to St. Davion, a bright hero capable of protecting everyone. So when Dark Star said that he wants to venerate St. Davion through meeting his descendant, he was immediately happy.
Maybe he isn't as bad as the rumors say!
The two exit the station and head towards the agency.

Captain Critiques: A Grumpy Pirate Review Book
(CURRENTLY OPEN)When it comes to reviews, I'm probably as harsh as the hellhole most story ideas crawl out of. I'm blunt, sarcasic, to the point and I know what I like in a story. As you can probably guess, you don't wanna take my advice if your like an overprotective mother about your story. Who am I kidding, EVERYONE is like that about their stories. But, if you could find the courage to pry the story out of your cold, crabby hands so I can give my brutally honest opinion then be my guest. Just don't try and start a fight once I provide it. You DON'T wanna fight a pirate. .................................. I reserve the right to decline stories as this will be taking up quite a bit of my time and if I say no, I mean NO. If your blurb is unreadable I will decline it. If it includes the genres mentioned in my 'Hell No' section then I will send it back where it came from.Do NOT critique the Captain.
