《Truck-Kun's Adventures in Isekai-land》50. A Radio's Rambling

As we flew over the river, I saw dozens of brown bears sitting around, cooking fish and drinking from bottles.
It felt kind of surreal, but I suppose animals as smart as people would act like them too.
Speaking of which, I didn't actually have any way to see directly, but since I could 'hear' Trucky's thoughts, I could pretty much see what he- I mean, it was looking at. Sometimes it's kind of annoying, especially when I'm trying to look at something and it looks away, but I guess it's better than nothing.
Well, I do have a sort of sight though, other than the Trucky thing.
For some reason, I can see souls! Not very sure why, since I didn't recall being able to do this back on Earth. Maybe an ability that goddess gave me?
Usually, their souls looked the same as their bodies, be it people, animals or golem.
But there was something I found pretty weird. When I looked at myself, my soul was a human girl?
I mean, I could shift into a radio form too, but to be honest, that just felt kind of awkward. Being humanoid suited me more; having limbs to move around and stuff was so much better!
Not that I had a lot of space to move around though. My actual body was like a room without an exit.
I might have just dismissed that since Trucky's soul is a too truck, like its body. But apparently, Tablet has a humanoid soul like me. His soul looked like a very ferocious and muscular man in armour. Oh, and he was kind of handsome too, I guess.
I remembered back when we were first transported to this planet. Tablet left quite an impression on me.
After I finished my talk with the goddess, I was transported here instantly. That really disoriented me...

So naturally, I looked around. And then I saw this really angry guy screaming in anger and cursing constantly! It really freaked me out...
Till this day, I still have no idea why Tablet was so angry. I guess I could dismiss it as him just getting mad from dying in the crash, but I felt like that probably wasn't it.
A few times, I wanted to ask him what was going on directly. Somehow, I got the feeling he knew much more about the situation than me. But I was just too timid...
Sheepy had been telling me I was too timid too. Hah... even a lazy sheep like that agrees.
For days, Sheepy had just been lying around and eating grass whenever Trucky gave some to him. I thought wild animals loved to run around and it was only humans that acted like that? It's not even like he had a game console to play or something to read.
He does spend a lot of time talking to me when he's not sleeping though. But honestly, I don't feel like I'm that interesting.
Hmm...
"Hey, Sheepy! Don't you get tired of just lying around all day? Why not ask to come out for a bit once in a while? It's probably not good for your health to just lie around all day." I said.
"Urgh..." the sheep grumbled. "I don't feel like it."
At least I tried.
Sheepy suddenly got up, much to my surprise. Could it be- oh nevermind, he's just checking on the pots again.
"I knew it!" he shouted in joy.
Huh?
"Hey! Hey!" he shouted to Trucky.
"What?" Trucky sounded really annoyed after getting interrupted from reading.
"One of them grew! Ahaha, what do you have to say now?"

I followed Trucky's sight as it rested on the little sprout.
"That stupid sheep! Of course, they germinate without sunlight! They only start needing light once they've grown!" I heard Trucky think.
Before I knew it, they started arguing. I didn't really feel like listening so I just curled into a ball on the floor and rolled around.
Urgh... I'm so bored. Nothing to do but think to myself! Or talk to Sheepy or Trucky, I guess, but I didn't really feel like doing that right now.
Eventually, Trucky went back to reading.
Maybe I should just suck it up and follow along again as Trucky reads.
Honestly, Thunder Hero really isn't my type of book.
It didn't help that Truck reads way too fast, so I had difficulty keeping up as it read!
But since I could see Trucky's thoughts, I could simply just watch the mental movie it conjured.
Except... Trucky has such dull imagery! I really should have realised Trucky had 0 sense of beauty sooner...
Like back at the dwarven city, the gates and all the architecture inside was simply stunning! I couldn't help but admire all the various landmarks, but Trucky wasn't really interested, dismissing it as 'overly grandiose' and only looking forward to see where it was going. As a result, I couldn't really get a good view of them.
That was very frustrating.
In Trucky's mental movie as it reads, all the buildings, forests and whatever were just, well... it doesn't even bother imagining them most of the time! And when Trucky does because the story mentions it, all it imagines is the dullest stuff ever.
And that's not even the worst part. Trucky is so lazy with the faces of all the characters and animals. Like, pretty much at text emoji level. He- it, urgh, screw it, I'll just call Trucky 'he'. His mental voice is male anyway.
He just imagines the faces of the people as (._.) for everyone! And the clothes are just plain white t-shirts and pants. Not only that, but he also doesn't even bother differentiating between gender and just uses the same 'model' for everyone unless they are a different animal! Like, what the hell?
I have no idea how Trucky remains so engaged with literally the most dull and boring imagination ever.
But despite all that, I've still managed to roughly figure out what's going on.
In Thunder Hero, the main character starts out as a kid riding a carriage with his parents through a forest. But bandits attacked, killing his parents, so he ran away and found a baby dragon.
And then he adventures and fights baddies with the dragon, eventually facing some sort of demon lord threatening the world, narrowly winning.
That was in book three.
Right now, Trucky is reading book six. By now, the power escalation has gotten so high that even the foot soldiers would probably be able to solo that demon lord.
And I heard that are like fifty books in the series so far? What are they going to do in the last book, fight in space and destroy galaxies with every punch?

Saga of the Jewels VOLUME ONE COMPLETE
Prefer to listen to rather than read Saga of the Jewels? I'm also releasing it as a free audibook serial podcast on iTunes here! Epic YA JRPG-influenced GameLit progression ensemble-cast steampunk romance fantasy! When Ryn’s hometown is destroyed, will he be able to gather together the twelve Primeval Jewels in order to defeat the evil Emperor and save the world of Mid? A fan novelization of an amazing Final Fantasy game that doesn’t actually exist, that currently releases at least one chapter a month. Epic in that this will be very long. “It’s a marathon, not a sprint!” (-Kandaj) YA in that this should be enjoyable to~13-year-olds and upwards. Some gore, some swearing, some sex, but nothing more than PG-13. JRPG-influenced / GameLit in that it uses lots of JRPG tropes, particularly from Final Fantasy. I’ve read a lot of fan Final Fantasy novelisations and you can basically think of this as a fan novelisation of its own Final Fantasy game that doesn’t actually exist as a game... Progression in that the characters level up over time (though not with visible litrpg stat boxes). They grow in ability through training and experience, gain new skills, individually and as a party (think Chrono Trigger) and spend time discussing and stratgeising about how to defeat their opponents. Main protagonist from book three would definitely be able to defeat himself from book one! Ensemble-cast because we've got quite the roster of misfits here. The first volume is all from the main protagonist's POV, but it starts dancing between his and different POVs thereafter. Steampunk in that we’ve also got airships, steam trains, pistols and ambiguous ‘amber bars’ that function a bit like artificial lights… Romance in that there is lots of shipping here, a few love triangles, and you may be kept guessing as to who will actually end up together... Fantasy in that we’re in a vaguely pre-modern setting. We’ve got swords, magic, dragons, dungeons, monsters, all that good stuff. * "This story captures that Final Fantasy quality perfectly. Kiddy but also grim. The characters are great... Severely underrated and needs more favorites/follows. I look forward to seeing how this story will unfold." -Gilgamesh9999 "Starting at the end and jumping backwards is not a writing style seen every day. I'll admit, I was a bit skeptical at first, but you've executed a fairly crazy idea very skillfully so far. Overall, a strong start to what could be a very strong story." -RandomFF.netUser "You definitely have my interest piqued. It'll be interesting to see where the story goes... It definitely has an 'old school Final Fantasy' type feel to it, which I appreciate...Good job! I am glad you are going into more details about the story you laid out in the prologue...of course the big burning question is 'You know they lose in the the first chapter, so how will they end up winning?' That of course, is the story you're writing...so we'll see how it goes! #Following." -KyleQuicksilver (quotes are from reviews on other sites) * If you enjoy it, don’t forget to boost Saga of the Jewels on topwebfiction.com!
