《Truck-Kun's Adventures in Isekai-land》44. Buried

Minnie readied its right arm.

I tried to drive backwards, but the golem's iron grip would not loosen. Several minutes passed. I was so scared.

Finally, the golem let go, rage slowly fading from its face. There was now only calm, which was somehow scarier. It headed to my door and smacked it.

"Open up!"

As it reached for the handle, I quickly opened it. That bastard... if I didn't open up, I was 90% sure it would have ripped my door open by force!

Minnie sat on my seat and grabbed my steering wheel, turning it. I didn't move, because none of my pedals were pressed.

"Wha-what are you doing?" Radio stopped crying, its voice filled with shock.

"Get going. We are going to find Unbound."

After a few moments, I understood. The golem was thinking of getting them to save Jaxt, using me to cover it up. I felt a huge sigh of relief, but I still felt pretty angry at it. It's not like its friend getting bound was my fault or Radios, taking out its anger on me was so uncalled for!

Radio, tell it to stop touching the steer so I can move.

"I understand, I'll do my best to save Jaxt!"

...

Um.

"So... can you let go and let me drive?"

Minnie let go. I quickly started driving before it could get angry again. As I moved, Jaxt kept staring at my controls as they moved which made very uneasy. Was it somehow going to be able to learn how to use my controls?

I decided to get Radio to ask it some questions.

"Where do you plan to look for them? Do you have a lead or something?" it sounded hopeful.

Wait... was Radio on Minnie's side?

"No no! I don't agree on him being violent but I do want to save Jaxt..." it whispered in English.

Minnie raised an eyebrow after hearing the 'strange language', but didn't question it.

"I don't have any. Head to a dwarven city; they might be snooping around there."

That sounded really bad, considering how I was wanted, but I guess that made sense... But if they were confident enough to free golems without alerting the dwarves, could we really find them?

Radio communicated my worries to it. The golem seemed to deflate a bit.

"They might look for us. Head there anyway."

"So... the dwarves in the nearest city have put a bounty on me. Maybe-"

Minnie grined its teeth. Please don't break anything...

"You hide somewhere while I look around."

"Oh... where?"

"You'll see."

What the hell was that supposed to mean? That it didn't know? I didn't feel like asking was safe though, so I continued, driving down the mountain and back into the grasslands.

The city soon came into sight. I could see many lights from a distance.

"Where do I hide?" Radio asked.

Minnie got out and seemed to focus for a bit. It struck the ground repeatedly and dug out tons of soil, leaving a hole at least 5 metres in.

Wait… it wanted me to go in there?

"Uh..."

As if to answer my question, the golem shoved me into the hole and started covering me with soil. I was speechless.

“Hey! You can’t do this!” Radio shouted.

Minnie ignored it, burying me in moments. I got kind of worried. What if it decided to just leave me and never come back as revenge?

Well… at least I could still look outside and read for now. Oh wait, what about Sheepy? How was it going to get air? I quickly looked in the cargo.

Sheepy was still sound asleep, somehow. Hopefully, that would save a bit of oxygen.

I decided to still look outside from where I was buried for a bit though. Hmm, I kind of felt like a spy of sorts, perfectly hidden. Kind of cool actually, ignoring the fact that I can’t get out. And the lack of grass where I was buried. Dammit, be more through, Minnie!

I thought I heard grass rustling in the distance, but whatever made that sound was long gone when I looked. Probably just some wild animal or the wind.

After a bit more fighting, the two souls finally made a truce. Grudgingly, he allowed the bunny to control the whole body, while he got access to its senses.

For the first time, he saw the room. It was a small room with light pink walls, filled with many pet toys and a table with food bowls and various supplies on top. Immediately, the demon lord realised what was going on.

“Unbelievable! To become a pet of all things… how humiliating! Still, it is good I am not left in the wild in such a weak form. Thought I could try to possess the predator…”

“Ruddde! I am not a pet!”

The two argued for a bit more before the door suddenly opened. A little girl in a floral dress ran in with a basket of vegetables with a wide grin on her face.

The rabbit stopped arguing and hopped over to her in excitement.

“Mom, mom! I’m hungry! And a big bully is trying to eat me, but he is weak!”

For a split second, the demon panicked, but he realised that to the girl, all the bunny was saying was “pip pip pip”.

“Pipi! You must be so hungry! Haha, I got all your favourites today!”

But just as he was about to relax again, he realised something.

“WHAT? A lord like me eating… plants like a vermin! I want meat! MEAAAAT!” he screamed.

Pipi was in control of the vocal cords, so no sound came out.

“Unbelievable… you eat stuff like this daily?” he asked the rabbit.

“You are crazy! Why would you want meat when veggies are so tasty?” Pipi snorted.

As the bunny hopped over to chew on lettuce, the demon lord was horrified to find it tasted pretty good. After all, he was experiencing it through the bunny’s tastebuds, not his own.

The girl pet Pipi, so it looked up. This was when the demon lord noticed her pointed ears. Urgh, he hated elves with their ‘goody two shoes’ attitude. No wonder they kept vermin like this.

That was when he got a brilliant idea.

“Yes! All I need to do is-“

Wait, no! He shouldn’t be saying it out loud. Dammit, he cursed to himself. He really should get his habit of talking to himself fixed. Now that he was out of the prison, there was no point in that.

His brilliant idea was simple. As someone who came to this world to conquer it and replace all life with demons, he didn't really pay attention much attention to the biology here. So as far as he knew, a rabbit would live as long as a human or something.

But if there was one thing elves were famous for, it was their ridiculous lifespan that could reach thousands. Even he knew that. He cackled to himself.

He would make the rabbit realise it would die long before its ‘mom’ and make it cooperate with him with the promise of a longer life! Not that he was going to keep his end of the promise, of course.
