《Truck-Kun's Adventures in Isekai-land》42. Worst Day Off

After the incident, Morris had spent a good amount of time looking up supernatural phenomena and superpowers online. It led to him reading several creepy horror stories that claimed to be true.
Because of that, he slept terribly the past few days. He told themselves they weren't true. That was just ridiculous. But after witnessing that inhuman strength from Ophie, he couldn't help but wonder if they had some basis. It didn't help that he began imagining monsters in the shadows as he laid in bed.
That was why today, Morris decided to use one of his leave days to head to the local forest, hoping it would help clear his mind. He had always been a nature lover.
After a short bus trip, he arrived.
He walked through the woods, taking in the fresh air. Ah, so much better than the 'polluted' air in the cities. Though he figured it might just be placebo.
Footsteps came from behind him as he walked.
"Hey, Morris! Is that you?"
He turned around, and saw a blonde man in grey jogging attire smiling.
"Oh, it's you, Brad."
To think he'd meet one of his old friends here! They had not seen each other in years. Morris felt pretty lucky. Today was a pretty good day.
The two friends had a good chat for a bit. Brad had to leave after an hour, but they exchanged numbers.
Now he was alone again. As he walked, a crazy thought crept into his head.
Alone. In a forest. The perfect time for horrors to strike. Morris began to get nervous despite how dumb it was. He told himself he wasn't a kid.
It was then when he saw a ghostly light in the distance.
Someone playing with a flashlight? Sunbeams?
Screw this. He didn't care what it was. He ran.

The sound of hooves approached. He ran quicker. His fat body did not agree. His lungs hurt from all the panting. His legs were sore. He heard it get closer.
Finally, he collapsed. The sounds stopped. He heard gentle breathing behind him; it did not sound human. Gingerly, he turned around.
It was a stag with a majestic white coat, its antlers glowed with a gentle white light. It stared at him intensely with its bright blue eyes.
"You... what are you...?" He couldn't help but say.
The deer spoke in a strange tongue. He couldn't understand a word, but he could hear the anger and anxiety in its voice.
Morris figured this was probably some sort of mythical beast from legends, or just a possessed deer. But in any case, this was definitely better than some horrible monster.
"I'm sorry. I don't understand you."
Morris was surprised he was calm enough to speak.
The deer was not having it. It got angrier and angrier, leaning closer towards his face as it shouted. Orbs of light formed on its antlers. Beautiful, he thought. They shot off like little missiles and cleaved holes through the surrounding trees.
Oh. That was very bad. Morris froze.
And a second later, a huge boar encased in ice popped out of nowhere and crashed onto on the deer. The sound of breaking bones came from it. Blood leaked onto the ground. The boar stared at him with a ferocious look.
Gathering all the strength he had, Morris screamed at the top of his lungs. The boar also screamed.
The beast ran away as fast as it could. Thank goodness, he thought.
This was the worst day ever. Morris laid on the ground for what felt like hours. Part of him wanted to turn over and look at the deer, but he just wanted to lie on the grass and never move again. He told himself he would never go into a forest ever again.

The sound of running came from the distance.
"Hi!"
Morris finally got up and saw the person he least expected. Ophie.
"Uh... what are you doing here?"
"Someone dabbed! And you were screaming?"
The crazed man hopped around as if he were on a sugar high and looked all over the place, then at the deer.
"Oh, deer! I will heal youuu!"
Ophie touched the deer. To the shock of Morris, the wounds began closing up.
"How are you doing that?!" he asked.
"I am a superstar! What will I do if my fans get injured?" Ophie nodded meaningfully.
That didn't answer the question at all. Morris wondered how they even managed to capture this freak in past.
The deer stood up and bowed to Ophie, saying something. The man rubbed its head with a gleeful smile.
"Oh, you speak the bread man's language!"
The two began to converse in the mysterious language. Morris wondered if he was hallucinating.
After some talking, the deer let Ophie get on it. It ran off with incredible speed.
The officer watched in wonder until something occurred to him.
"Wait! Wait for me! I don't want to be alone here!"
"Free! I am free at last! Ahahahaha!"
A ghostly figure floated above the snoring ice dragon, staring at his body in the prison. Unfortunate, but he couldn't escape with his body. At least it could be a decoy when the dragon wakes up.
"Now, all I need to do is to find something to possess! I will soon call upon my armies and raze this world again!" he laughed, ignoring the sleeping dragon.
After being trapped for so long, he too had gotten a bad habit of talking to himself. As he floated through the walls of the caves, he started to panic.
"This... I must be deep in the belly of the planet!" he cried. "If I don't find a body soon, my weakened soul will dissipate. Cursed dragon, trapping me for so long!"
Desperately, he flew upwards as fast as he could, trying to sense life. He felt his soul getting weaker and weaker.
Moments away from fading, he felt the aura of life above.
"Yes! Ahahahaha!"
In an instant, he swooped in and possessed the creature without a second look.
"Luck has sided with me again!" he laughed. "I wonder what splendid form I have taken. I am a..."
A very cute snow white bunny with shiny red eyes.
"Noooooooo!"
