《The Sudden Rise of the Magic Continent》Chapter 1: A Confusing New Place

(sentences in between 2 "-" are the thoughts of someone other than the main character)
I wake up to the sound of thunder in the distance in a place I've never seen before... Actually, do I remember being anywhere? To wake up in what seems to be a forest is really weird. I should look around to find out what this place is like and try to find out where I actually am.
As I walk through the forest, I find what seems to be a town in the middle of it. There are Elves and even what seems to be Monkey Beastmen. An Elf who looks really young but looks very dignified is now walking up to me... I wonder what he wants.
"Are you perhaps the visitor we were expecting?" The Elf says to me.
"A visitor? No, I don't think so? I don't remember much..." I say as I try to remember how I got here.
"I see. May I ask your name? Mine is Alberic"
"Oh, um, it's Aki," I say, vaguely remembering my name
"Alright then, if you could follow me, please." -She's not the one, but I can't leave her out like this. She seems to be one of the new spawns-
"Everyone seems really busy... Is this because of the visitor?" As I look around, everyone seems to be doing something
"Oh yes, then you're most certainly one of the new spawns. As you should know, many of us have been awakening from the earth recently. I myself have been awakened recently, but since I was the first of the elves, I'm currently trying to make it so that everyone in the forest awakens peacefully and easily. I'm working with the first of the Monkeen and Treants to try and make everything as easy as it can be. But the fact that you have no memories at all, or not even know who we're waiting for, is strange as you should at least have a vague idea of what we should be prepared for."

"If this is all so important, then why are you helping me? You're explaining all of this important stuff and wasting this important time? Shouldn't you be trying to make everything faster?"
"You misunderstand. You're also newly awakened, aren't you? You are one of the people I need to be helping. You seem to be one of the Orunian as well, so you're important in itself."
"An Orunian? What's that?"
"Orunians are made to be similar in a sense to each of the beings on Gloranela. They are all different and very rare; you are only the 6th one heard of in Terra's Domain."
"The sixth one? Am I truly that rare?" I look deep in thought as I wonder why I'm like this.
"Here, sit here please, I'll be back soon," He says as he shows me to a seat inside of one of the larger trees.
"Oh uh yeah, I can wait" As soon as he leaves, a large black screen appears in front of my face.
"This is... Weird..." I start tapping the screen and see a bunch of random tabs. The one that truly caught my eye, though, was the status.
Name: Aki
Level: 5
Power: 50
Health: 100
Magic Energy: 100
Compatible Magical Elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, Electricity, Holy, Unholy, Space, Time
Skills: Minor Flame I, Water Manifestation I, Rock Manipulation I, Minor Gust I
Special Skills: Analyzation I, Status Screen
"Is this the status screen? It must be because I don't know what else it could be, and since it's a unique skill, does it mean that only I can have it?" Aki thinks out loud as she wonders what it all means
Alberic walks back into the room after about 30 minutes, looking a bit frantic.

"What's wrong? Is something happening?" Aki asks, not understanding why the Elf looks unnerved for seemingly no reason.
"Terra is coming. We knew we were going to have a visitor, but for it to be someone like Terra? Terra is far too important for us to accept properly. Could you please give us aid in setting everything up?"
"Who is Terra? You said something about 'Terra's Domain' earlier. Is he that important?"
"Terra is one of the four guardians who protect these lands. The world we know of and are allowed to venture was split up between them, so they guard a quarter each... To think you didn't even know that much."
"Have you ever traveled further than Terra's Domain?"
"There hasn't been time to do so, we know because we appeared with that knowledge beforehand. I believe it to be natural knowledge so that we can make our lives more stable far easier."
"Well, I can help. I'm probably wasting your time by making you answer my questions."
"Yeah, that's about right... Well, come with me," Alberic says as he guides Aki out.

Psychotic Death Online
(Side Project for now)In a futuristic alternate reality, the creators of nanotech team up with the VR capsule company to create a capsule where one could stay it in for a year at a time before having to leave. These capsules could be use for rehab and even reconstruction! Eventually, Buzzard, the largest gaming company in the world, created a new VRMMO with 99% realism pending the new capsules, of course the rate dropped to 97% with normal capsules and 90% with the old fashioned visor systems. Unfortunately, the new capsules cost $100,000 and not many people can afford them, either way the new game World of Destiny was a hit with over 110 million subscriptions!Meet our tragic MC Feng Jun, an injured psychopath that simply wants to get his next kill. He has no MO, he doesn't even care if what he kills is an insect let alone a person. He just has to kill every once in awhile to scratch his itch. Up til an injury that left him without a leg, he was able to make do simply killing insects as no one cared and he didn't even have to visit any doctors about it. People just thought he hated bugs! But after his injury he has been suck at his home not being able to do anything! Fortunately he is rich and spends most of his time playing MMOs since normal VRMMOs don't work well with his injury as the realism setting always keeps him with only one leg! But what will he do with a new opportunity to rebuild his leg with nanotech? Knowing he has to spend a year in the game minimum for something like this, he sets a goal to insure he doesn't go crazy (er) without having stuff to kill. This is a VRMMO story where the game is closer to zhan long than royal road with a few twists here and there. The world outside of the game is sci fi and has very little impact at least for the first year due to obvious reasons. No gore or explicit sex in this story, if cursing requires a mature tag I will add it later, this story is at best PG-13. Tragedy is for his circumstances and previous life, the game itself isn't tragic at all as it's just a game more or less.(This story will be put out alongside my main story whenever I feel like it for now, no set schedule at this time)

The Dreamside Road
Five years after the world fell into chaos, a treasure of artifacts is up for grabs. The relics of the Dreamside Road offer a power that could help rebuild or annihilate what remains. Orson Gregory is an adventurer for hire, but hunts this treasure for answers, not glory. Enoa Cloud’s late aunt helped hide the Dreamside Road, but following in her aunt’s supernatural tradition offers her as much peril as power. Together, Orson and Enoa battle a magic-obsessed militia, clash with a host of rivals, and face constant adventure on their journey to find the Dreamside Road. *Updates Monday and Friday The Dreamside Road is now on TopWebFiction! Vote so people know this exists. _____________________________________ NOTE: The Progression tag applies specifically to Enoa. Also, fair warning, that element doesn't enter the story until she begins her studies. Content: Main characters range in age from teenagers to people in their thirties and older, but it will not contain gratuitous violence or explicit sexual content. It also won’t shy away from implication, anything to make this story and its world feel more real. Characters will freely allude to potentially triggering topics, including living with a disability, facing terminal illness, coping with trauma, surviving societal destabilization, and the consequences of bigotry. At its most intense, the Dreamside Road is a hard PG-13. Worldbuilding: This is not a story with a lot of early exposition scenes, conveniently explaining ‘magic systems’ and political dynamics. Readers will learn, progressively, as the characters do. This story/world has a ‘magic system’, or rather, a set of systems, but the effort to quantify and understand the truth of the setting plays a role in the backstory, as well as in some character motivations. In that same vein, not every character has a firm grasp on the nature of their world, and not every piece of dialog from every character should be taken as entirely truthful Worldbuilding. Also, this isn't the softest Sci-fi. There are at least some basic explanations given for various elements, but Royal Road does not give me a spectrum to choose from. Given the choice between hard and soft, let's just say The Dreamside Road won't be cited in any college Physics papers. Setting and Theme: The Dreamside Road walks the line between fantasy and science fiction and deals with finding one’s place in a changing world. Many of the characters in this story are United States natives and the story begins in the United States, my homeland. However, knowledge or interest in this country is not necessary to understand the story, especially as it progresses. Also, as this is a novel that deals with societal collapse and while that damage may be widespread, in story, I don’t want to overstep and critique the culture of others’ unless I have particular knowledge in a given area. Ultimately, the Dreamside Road is American in the same way Harry Potter is English, fantasies that do not have a full secondary world, but with enough original elements to fully diverge the setting from our the real world.
