"The only way to save your daughter is to marry her?!"
Hydra was frantic. He was someone who cared greatly about his friends and even if he didn't like something entirely if it was for the greater good he was willing to sacrifice himself. However the on flip side if it wasn't for his friends, there was a single chance that he would jump into the fray to get himself hurt, he wasn't some kind of hero from a children's book. This was exactly like when he used the pig stampede to save the Beginner's city. If it wasn't for the fact that he had to participate to complete his quest, it was unlikely he was going to help!
Not to mention that he wa s low-level and had nearly no gear, he would be more useless than useful, however it was only due to his luck stat and finding out about the bread taunt that allowed him to succeed in fighting back the Liza clan. However this was different, this about saving Irina's life whom he had grown close to over the adventure they both shared. Time meant nothing for Hydra who knew grew up with no friends other than Sarah and his sister's! Thus he knew that cherishing the small amount of time was much more important the amount of time spent together with someone.
If you fell in love with someone at first sight was that wrong? Naturally it was not! It was simply being able to find a close attraction to one another at the very beginning, it was similar to Hydra and how all his friendships were gained. What mattered to him was that he met someone and they treated him well, that was enough to become his friend and as long as the other party felt the same, Hydra was one to never abandon them! However just as Hydra's face was becoming more and more serious, a relaxed and even childish smile appeared on Lixiss' face as she spoke.
"I was merely teasing you Hydra! You truly are quite an interesting young boy. If I was a few millenia younger maybe I would try to snatch you up for myself!"

Unconsciously Hydra moved his hands down to his lower regions, and shivered. While he knew it was a joke and while she was a beauty the deeper meaning was that definitely she would literally snatch him up! Although he once again didn't have time to say anything however instead of it being because of Lixis speaking, another voice echoed through the steamy surroundings.
"Mother!"
"Oh, Irina you have arrived slower than I imagined."
Lixiss at this point had been sitting comfortably with a smile she had not felt in countless years. Truly to her, her time with Hydra had been much more satisfying than a 1000 years. For one as old as her there was simply nothing that sparked her interest, that was until she heard about Hydra from her daughter. Of course part of the interest was the fact that her daughter had created a relationship with Hydra while the other was the fact that Hydra himself was quite interesting. He had create a religion and managed to become friends with her daughter, both of which were feats that can be congratulated for. Thus when she found out she was going to meet him for herself she had been anxious the entire time. Now she finally was able to feel satisfied, although it was a shame that her daughter had arrived it was good enough for now that is.
"Mother! What did you tell Hydra?!"
"Oh I just told him if he doesn't marry you, you will die in the coming of age ceremony!"
"Mother! How could you lie to him like that! I hate you!"
"Oh my."
As Irina has screamed the falsity of Laxiss' words out, she jolted off into another direction completely, this entire time she hadn't even become visible to Hydra before she was already running away. Naturally Irina and Valeria forgot they were still only clothed with a single leaf towel, and thus would have been hard to explain the reasoning for finding Hydra in such attire. However, as Irina felt an uncomfortable feeling knowing her mother was alone with Hydra, in which she found out that something incredibly embarrassing happened she was unable to hide her embarrassment and ran away.
Lixiss not minding that her daughter ran away in embarrassment and even the added member Valeria who as carrying Pan spoke out to Hydra as she stood up.
"While it's true that you do not have to marry her, she still needs your help. As you are the only person in the entire world who can help her. So as Queen of the Forest of Origin, I, Lixiss, ask for the [Aether Bladist] Hydra, to destroy the threat within the [White winged Tree] so that my people may once again enter their sacred land in hopes of sharing their prayers!"

Ding!
"Huh!?"
Hydra let out a confused expression as he looked at the quest window that popped up.
Destroy the infection within the [White Winged Tree]!The queen of the forest elves, Lixiss, within the [Forest Of Origin] has requested that you as the [Aether Bladist] to destroy the evil lurking within their sacred land. Deep within the [White Winged Tree] exists a darkness that has infected the [White Winged Tree]. As the darkness has become a parasite the [White Winged Tree] is no longer able to determine foe from ally and thus the elves are unable to enter for their coming of age ceremonies. Without their tradition the elves that cherish their way of life above everything else are starting to become weaker. Anything other than darkness will be attacked and thus this will only those who embrace the darkness will be able to enter!
Requirements: [Aether Bladist], This quest can only be carried out alone! Can only enter on the day of the Coming of age ceremony when the [White Winged Tree] will open its upper regions. Time remaining: 10 days.
Difficulty: A
"This…. no wonder Irina reacted so heavily when I told her I was the [Aether Bladist]!"
"Of course! Even I as the someone who inherited the powers of the [White Winged Tree] directly am unable to enter the the upper most regions! And it just so happens that the infection is in the heart of the [White Winged Tree] where even I am unable to enter now. Thus I can only ask this of you Hydra. I know that it may seem like my daughter only became friends with you for this reason, but I know my daughter and she truly cares for you!"
"This I know. At first I never told he about being the [Aether Bladist] and we were able to become friends before that."
"Good! You are a incredible boy, of course while I was joking I would not be reluctant to give my daughter's hand to you in the future!"
At this Hydra nearly collapsed again and even Valeria who was only slightly listening on without disrupting her lord and the queen nearly fell over!
"Now.. Enjoy the rest of your bath. We still have ten days until the [White Winged Tree] will open its walls! Until then feel free to venture my lands freely! For the night I will retire, in my chambers please enjoy the food prepared as well."
"Thank you Queen Lixiss!"
"Forget about the formalities young Hydra! As my daughter's friend please just call me mother!"
As she said that she winked towards Hydra and walked away without waiting for Hydra's response! Hydra only now felt the tension in his body release all at once as he nearly instantly lost consciousness. There was so much he didn't know and although this world was only a game to him, he was starting to more and more think of it as a second life. A second story in one's life truly the name [Second Saga] fit the game so well he was starting to wonder which was more real! Although the game had added effects like menus and statuses, to this world it was considered normal and real in this world. If everyone else thought it was real, was that not the meaning of reality?
‘This world is truly complicated!'
However Hydra was still excited! He had gotten another quest and even though he had ten days until he could carry it out he was still anxiously anticipating it! To Hydra, the best part of this quest was it had to be achieved alone! This was something Hydra had never done before! He was finally able to test his abilities without being able to rely on any help whatsoever! Hydra wasn't sure if Pan could be included but he felt no matter what he would accomplish this quest alone as a test to himself.
"Well, until then let us enjoy the land of the elves!"
At this moment Hydra was about to rise up and get out of the bath when he forget about one simple thing. Valeria was still here! Luckily he didn't jump the gun and rush out after his excitement. Casually and as calm as possible Hydra called out to Valeria.
"Valeria is there something you need?"
"Oh. I was just here to wash your back Lord Hydra!"
Hydra nearly collapsed again! He felt like this bath was becoming more and more trouble than it was worth and quickly spoke out.
"Don't worry I am just getting out."
"I will come earlier next time to help you out my Lord."
Hydra face palmed and because facepalming was an unknown gesture to Valeria she simply thought it was an agreement gesture and excitedly ran off with Pan in tow. Who quietly cried as he couldn't spend time with his master. At this Hydra was immediately regretting his actions and silently thought to himself.
‘Note to self, never use any gestures from the real world.'

Fallout: Vault X
An original novel set in the Fallout universe, written to be accessible to all, featuring unique people and places. Vol.II. out now Fallout: Vault X tells the story of John. A vault dweller, who spent every day of his twenty five years underground. Like his father, and his father before him. Proud to live in the last remaining bastion of humanity, all that survived The Great War of the atomic age. Hidden deep below the surface of the earth, toiling under brutal conditions. Year after year, decade upon decade. All to expand into the natural cave system the Vault occupied, building for the future. However, John knew what his forefathers did not, that everything he’d been taught was a lie. After finishing school at the age of ten, John received his standard issue pipboy. An arm mounted personal computer, worn by everyone in the Vault. Used to coordinate the relentless pace of expansion, needed to work as an apprentice. To learn the craft that would be his life’s work. A noble calling to ensure a future for all that remained of the human race. A quirk of fate saw John equipped not with the crude, clunky, pipboy model his father wore. That almost everyone around him wore. His looked smaller, sleeker, finished in a jet black sheen. And capable of doing far more than its drab counterparts. The world above had been ravaged by atomic flames, yet life clung to its bones. The Red Valley fared better than most in the century since the bombs fell. The clean water and rich soil protected by rolling hills. All spared from direct strikes, for the most part. Life survived here. Trees spawned from charred ground, misshapen, green leaves turned red. Along with simple crops, grown wild at first, then cultivated by the survivors. The scavengers of the old world were inventive, hardy people. All determined to rebuild in the ruins of a world they never knew. In the decades that passed settlements emerged. They grew, spreading along the valley floor. Reclaiming the pre-war remnants of the once industrialised heartland. Salvaging the robotic wonders of a bygone age to build their walls and work their fields. To protect them in the dark of the wasteland. But such things are uncommon in this world, and the rarer something is, the greater its value. And the worth of pre-war technology had not gone unnoticed. The last, real, power in this world rested in the mechanised hands of The Brotherhood of Steel. Forged from the mortally wounded old world military. The Brotherhood used its access to the weapons made for a conflict no one won to strike out into the wastes. Men and women were equipped with advanced armour, aerial transportation, high grade weaponry. Accompanied by the training, strength, and will, to put them to use. They established chapters and set up outputs far and wide. All dedicated to a single purpose. To ensure the technology left abandoned by its long dead creators didn’t fall into the wrong hands. Namely, any hands that were not their own. This is the world John escaped into. A place of horrors brought forth from atomic fire. A place where survival meant battling against the darkness. Fighting a war each day to get to the next. And war...war never changes
