《Evolution (Rewrite)》Chapter 058 the dark orb (3)

When I reported to the others what skill that disgusting creature had, I could see the shock on their pale faces, but that didn’t change their mind. Without any warning, I made steel bolts rain over the grotesque creature’s body. After that, some glaives and arrows also pierced the monster's skin, but the beast continued to chew the mutant cat as if nothing had happened.
We continued to attack, but the projectiles didn’t pierce the monsters as much as we wanted. Harry and Sarah were patiently waiting for the creature’s attacks; on the other hand, Sandra and the others were busy killing the innumerous mutant rats. Their numbers didn’t decrease even after some minutes. To make things worse, every time the monster chewed, its HP was restored.
‘Tsk, try to chew this.’
I opened my backpack and a half meter fire arrow flew toward the beast’s fangs. A massive explosion occurred, causing some damage to the creature. However, that explosion only slightly burned the fur on the beast’s face and cracked a little bit the beast’s fangs. But what really pissed off the monster was the fact that I destroyed its snack.
The creature glared at me, and I grinned to piss off the beast even more. If I didn’t know any better, I’d say that I was enjoying that. I could see in the creature’s eyes that it had decided that I would be its next snack and that only made me feel more thrilled. I never enjoyed my fights against the monsters, but I would have to enjoy it from that point onward. Fighting for survival would become a habit, until that point, I had lived a boring life, but I decided to make my life more fun.
The bolts flew toward the beast’s face, but with a single hand, the monster stopped my attacks and with the other pointed at me, Claire and Rose. In the next moment, three evolved mutant rats appeared in front of us out of thin air.
‘I don’t think this is enough.
Before the newborn evolved mutant rat could do anything, ten steel bolts pierced its head. On the next second, the creature fell on the ground, dead. I looked at Claire and Rose, and then I saw the other monsters falling on the ground, drowning in a pool of their own blood.
The monster’s eyes showed a hint of anger and in the next second dozens of mutant rats appeared near all of us. It was that replication skill; our formation was useless. Harry looked at us, nervously.
“Keep attacking the beast!” Sandra shouted.
Sandra and the others were barely keeping the monsters away from us, they were covered in sweat and blood, and they were breathing with difficulty. They couldn’t cause massive amounts of damage like us. However, they were doing their job just as Sandra said they would. The beast insisted on that pathetic tactic of trying to kill us with sheer numbers, but it only lost time and MP.
Although I was having fun turning that massive beast into a hedgehog using my steel bolts, I decided to speed up a little bit. Even without eating, that creature was restoring its HP, and our MP was being drained. I didn’t have time to waste.
I kept shooting with steel bolts with my crossbow on my right hand and with my left hand, I opened my backpack, and I sent three fire arrows toward the monsters head. Even though I was wearing the fire ring, the damn beast didn’t receive much damage. The ice arrows were sturdier and sharper, but the monster’s skin was too tough. It almost looked like the creature’s fur was an armor. The only weak point was its head, but the only one who could attack that effectively that point was Rose. While Claire and I could attack the beasts’ face, it wasn’t enough. The fat seemed like another layer of armor.

‘In that case, let’s open a big smile on that ugly face.’
The creature couldn’t move much, so, I would be able to do it. From my backpack, two green light arrows appeared and then flew toward the monster’s cheek. Blood gushed like rain from the points the arrows scratched. Although the damage was small in comparison to the fire arrows, those arrows that I used were made of wind and managed to pierce some of the monster's skin easily.
‘It’s a pity this kind of arrow is only good at cutting.’
Since it was made of wind, those arrows could easily be blocked by a sturdy defense. They were only useful in that kind of situation, to little by little overcome the monster's defense.
Even though I had leveled up the elemental magic arrow, the cost to create these arrows was absurdly high. So, I had to make every single one of those arrows worth of it.
Again, the massive beast looked annoyed at me, even though our attacks could barely scratch the creature, we were the three most powerful ranged survivors. We shouldn’t be underestimated, Claire was a monster by her own right, and Rose had her telekinesis. While I was good at pissing off the beast. Thanks to our continuous attacks, the creature had already lost twenty percent of its HP
Rose understood why I attacked the cheeks, and she also helped me to open a way to the creature’s mouth. Claire’s arrow wouldn’t help in that task, so she decided to blind the enemy. But even the beast’s eyelids were too fat, the monster only had to blink, and Claire wouldn’t be able to destroy its eyes.
“Tsk, what an annoying monster,” Claire said impatiently.
I used more four wind arrows, and thanks to Rose’s help, I managed to cause enough damage to see the monster’s teeth. But, the beast didn’t like that and decided to put Harry to work. The creature pointed at us, and then lightning bolts flew toward us. Harry only managed to block the attack because he was ready to act; however, things weren’t going well for him.
“Argh! Damn it!” Harry moaned gritting his teeth.
Those bolts of lightning weren’t arrows, they could fly in any direction, and so many sparks managed to hit Harry’s legs. Not only that, the shield wasn’t created to absorb electricity. Thanks to all that, Harry’s HP was decreasing at a fast pace, even though Sarah was healing him non-stop.
‘I guess I don’t have time to enjoy myself here.’
Things will get messy if our sturdiest survivor dies. So, I decided to use all my ice arrows remaining; those were sturdy and sharper; it would do the job. Probably.
I opened my backpack, and my last remaining five ice arrows flew toward the monster’s teeth. Even though the arrows were small, they managed to make the monster’s colossal head move a little backward thanks to the impact. The first two arrows broke a few teeth, and the others managed to pierce the interior of the beast’s mouth deeply. Blood began to fall from the forced smiled that I created like a waterfall.
‘As expected of those arrows strengthened by the ice ring…’
The monster lost ten thousand HP, thanks to only three arrows. The beast’s eyes were burning with rage, but then the creature raised its head toward the sky. Making us unable to hit the interior of the mouth.

‘Tsk... is smarter than I thought.’
As if that wasn’t enough, the creature began to spill something toward the skies. After just a few seconds, a purple cloud was covering the entire battlefield.
“I don’t like this,” Rose said without stopping her attacks.
It was pretty much evident what was about to happen; I explained to them the beasts’ skills after all. The skill’s names were self-explanatory, and just like that, incredibly corrosive droplets of water began to fall on us.
Usually, the pain would make me very annoyed, but instead, I felt bored. Although that acid rain was slowly eroding my clothes, hair, and skin, it wasn’t an attack that would put my life in risk in a single moment. The others were moaning thanks to the pain, the only one who wasn’t bothered by the rain was Harry, his defense far outclassed the attack power of that rain. But even though he was busy blocking the thunderstorm, he looked at us showing a worried expression.
‘Area of effect skills are boring… one more reason to finish this battle faster.’
If I could control the magic arrows and make them explode at will, I could dissipate that cloud easily, but that wasn’t something that I could do right at that moment. No matter, that was just one more thing to train and learn through trial and error.
Although it tasted like crap and vomit, I forced myself to drink two MP potions, and then I equipped the metal crossbow on my left hand, and then I began to shot furiously at the monster’s fat neck.
‘Your MP will be drained too.’
Thanks to vast amounts of MP the explosive bolt drained, and the fire ring, little by little I was opening a wound on the beast’s neck. When the monster’s HP dropped to twenty thousand, all the external layer of skin had been burned, and I finally could see the weak pink flesh. Damage that would be easy, thanks to it, I grinned.
However, like it was laughing at my efforts, the creature stopped the acid rain and then pointed toward the sky. A mutant rat appeared right above the creature’s head, and then the grotesque beast ate it.
‘Disgusting beyond reason… such a thing doesn’t deserve to live.’
But that hadn’t been a random action, in the next few seconds, the creature recovered five thousand of its HP.
“Don’t let that thing eat anymore!” Sandra shouted.
That was my intention, but I had only seven magic arrows left, and the metal crossbow couldn’t be used consecutively. I exploded the second mutant rat that thing created, but I couldn’t do a thing to destroy the third, which appeared five seconds after.
For the first time in a while, I felt annoyed when I saw the wound that I caused on the beast’s neck closing and healing at a fearsome speed.
‘Tsk, this is going to take forever at this rate.’
My ammo was running low, and I had already used too many magic arrows. I had to bet everything on a single attack, but first, I had to make a few preparations to make sure that attack will cause as much damage as possible. But then I noticed something that could help me even more.
HP: 62/83
MP: 51/136
STA: 33/83
Evolution Orbs: 9752/10000
Evolution Coins: 42561
I was about to break my limit, and I would obtain one more sensorial skill until now those skills only offered support outside of the battles, but I felt the last sensorial skill that I would receive would help a lot. My instincts were telling me that.
“It’s worth a try.”
“What?” Claire asked, confused after she saw me grinning.
I opened my backpack and sent two dark five centimeters long darts toward the grotesque beast. One hit the head, and the other hit the arm, which was creating the mutant rats. The arm fell on the floor and created a small crater just like a meteor, but the head didn’t move an inch.
‘Tsk, it was too small to make that beast fall on the ground too. Even though the head became ten times heavier, the body is big enough to support all that weight.’
I could create fire, ice, wind, electric, and earth arrows, but I also could create those dark arrows which could make everything ten times heavier, those arrows could alter the gravity around the target. It didn’t cause damage directly, but if used correctly, it could make an enemy suffocate thanks to the weight of its own body. But as I already saw it, the grotesque beast was fine.
‘It doesn’t matter; this will give me enough time.’
I left Rose and Claire behind, and then I joined Sandra and the others, only by helping them, I would obtain the orbs necessary to break the limit. When I appeared and began to shot, they looked at me astonished.
“Don’t just stand there, kill the monsters.”
I already knew that I was a bit unreliable, but they also knew that I wasn’t crazy enough to cause our deaths. I had a plan, and they noticed it. The dark arrows would only work for ten seconds, but that had been more than enough time to break the limit. I broke the sensorial limit for the last and fortieth time and then I saw the message.
‘Congratulations, you broke your sensorial limit forty times. Now you will receive a random sensorial skill… your new skill has been selected; you obtained the skill: Teleport.’
I grinned, and then I laughed like a maniac. I knew that I could trust in my instincts; my instincts were the only thing which would never betray me. I turned around, and I faced the big monster with the biggest smile on my face. The others looked at me astonished while I approached the creature casually.
