《Evolution (Rewrite)》Chapter 037 Lending a hand (1)

Suddenly, I saw myself running in the middle of a forest. Even though my legs were stiff and heavy, I felt good thanks to the green around me and the fresh air. It seemed that I was in the middle of a tropical forest because I could see many animals and weird plants around me. I heard something coming from above me, and then I saw a small yellow monkey looking at me with interest.
I heard the sound of leaves moving near my feet, and when I looked down, I saw a yellow snake ready to bit my legs. However, I heard the sound of something crossing the air at high speed, and then a knife pierced the snake’s head. A young and familiar man appeared and tapped my shoulder while laughing because of my surprised face. He was dressed and carrying a backpack like a soldier, I looked at my body, and I understood that was also a soldier. After not so much time, he began to run and gave me the signal to follow him.
After a few minutes running, we arrived at a camp in the middle of that forest. There, I found dozens of men dresses like us, and a group of doctors. All of them looked pretty familiar, but I also felt that I had never seen any of them before, and those feelings mixed were pretty annoying.
For the next few hours, I stayed in that place with those people. Laughing, eating, and exercising with them, but I was unable to say a word to them. All things considered, I didn’t feel all that bad. The other visions showed me disturbing things, and it also made me feel too angry, but I couldn’t blame the visions, I was also prone to do violent actions. Anyway, I welcomed that vision. I already could see too much blood while I was awake, I didn’t have to see more blood while sleeping.
A pain in my head made that dream slowly crumble away, the entire forest disappeared, and in the end, I was surrounded by darkness. However, soon, the darkness vanished as I opened my eyes, I saw the familiar map on the ceiling of the hotel, but I couldn’t see anything with my left eye.
‘What the fuck…’
A touched my head, and I felt a lot of bandages around it, and that gave me the hint that I had screwed up again. I looked around me, and I saw the unfamiliar faces of a few survivors in the north. Soon, they began to whisper among themselves, and because of it, a lot more survivors appeared. Charles was among them.
“Wow, you managed to wake up,” Charles said, showing a surprised face. “Sorry to say this, but you need to act right now.”
“What happened?”
My head was hurting a lot, and I felt that my left eye was burning. I made some mistakes that at least was obvious, but I didn’t remember what. My last memory was me setting the time bombs near the members of the brotherhood.
“You killed Ken,” Charles answered. “But the other survivors are still outside and the men under your control too. They will soon die if you don’t do something, they have been there for more than two days already.”
Slowly, I began to remember. I killed all the brotherhood members, and after that, I fought against Ken. At least I tried to fight; he was stronger than me. So, I had no other choice, but to attack at the very last moment. The burning pain on the left side of my body made me understand that I had suffered the maximum amount of damage Ken could cause. As long as my heart didn’t suffer damage, I knew that I could heal myself with items. So, I moved as much as I could to the side when he activated his skill. Ken’s spear didn’t destroy my heart. But the electricity and the damage of the attack made me lose my consciousness before I could give the order to the most powerful armed men to bring me to the hotel and create some item to heal me. That had been my plan: evade a mortal wound. Inflict as much as damage as possible with a counter-attack and give the order to the armed men to heal me. I failed on the last part of the plan.

“All right, let’s go.”
According to Charles, he and the other survivors brought me to the hotel and used their evolution coins to heal me. But they didn’t have much, so, they couldn’t create the necessary medicine. That was why I stayed unconscious for more than two days. But what really worried me was the fact Charles didn’t mention Harry’s group.
It took a while and a lot of MP, but I managed to bring everyone who was outside of the hotel. All of them collapsed on the floor. Luckily all of them broke their physical limit many times; otherwise they would have died because of the cold and exhaustion.
The armed assholes seemed very angry while looking at me, but on the first day I obtained the power to control them, I forbade them of trying to attack me, so, I didn’t have anything to worry about. However, the job wasn’t over. I had to test that skill to see what it could do.
“You come over here.”
I called a random survivor under my command to approach me, he was a teenager, and thanks to my sudden actions, Charles and the other survivors looked at me showing interest. It was annoying being watched by so many people, but I ignored them. The survivor approached and looked at me, showing a confused expression.
“My name is Ethan, and I want you to forget everything you know about me.”
Suddenly, I felt a powerful wave of dizziness, and when that disappeared, I noticed that I had used fifty MP. The skill was convenient and cheap, but the more absurd the order was, the more MP I would have to use. However, by losing that amount, my order had been received. I could see that just by looking at the survivor’s eyes. He seemed a bit happy when he approached me, but now he didn’t show any interest while looking at me.
“Now, do you my name?”
“No, sir.”
My test had been a success; I just had to do that five hundred more times! I felt happy, but I also felt depressed because that would take a long time.
First, I ordered the armed men to make the survivors under their control forget about me, and after that, I also ordered them to cancel the control they had under the other survivors. Since even they had more MP and fewer people under their control than me, they finished pretty quickly. Meanwhile, I decided to check my status.
HP: 14/67
MP: 19/69
STA: 44/67
Evolution Orbs: 2802/3200
Evolution Coins: 45125
‘Wow, with this much, I can learn the skill meditation and still create something amazing!’
Ken and his lackeys had a lot of coins, probably because they didn’t feel the need to create any weapons aside from firearms. Even though I had almost died, I couldn’t ask for more. But soon I got rid of those thoughts; after all, those coins will be useless if I die. Besides, even though I felt that I deserved it, I couldn't keep all those evolution coins to myself. I had to share with the survivors here, or they will be close to useless.
‘Well, at least I deserve fifteen thousand evolution coins.’
Before I could change my mind, I learned the skill. Thanks to it, the speed of the process of making the survivors forget about me increased a lot.

“Are you sure about this?” Charles asked while showing a worried expression.
“Yeah, it’s the only way to avoid problems in the long run.”
“Well, I guess I’ll also forget about our fight in the past, right?” Charles asked. “I guess that’s for the best since you helped us.”
“No, I won’t make you forget about me. And I won’t change their memories either.”
Charles became surprised with the fact I wouldn’t change his and the armed men memories. But that was also necessary.
“You will become the new leader of the people here, that’s why I’m not going to make you forget about me. Ken’s spear will be yours from now on; you will have to lead them from the front lines. In a few days, another group will come, and I want you to ally yourself with them, if you see me, pretend that you don’t know me. If you don’t follow these… advice, I’ll deal with you on the same way I dealt with Ken. All of us have to become allies to fight for our survival. So, don’t even think about becoming the new king of this place.”
I didn’t know much about Charles, so I decided to warn him. I didn’t help them because I wanted to be a hero or because it was the right thing to do. I did it for my own benefit, the more allies, the better. As long as all people stand united, we will be able to overcome all hardships and the weight on everyone shoulders will be lessened. But that was easier said than done; just talk wasn’t enough to gain more allies, someone will have to force them. That was why I was forcing Charles to obey my orders. Besides, not me, nor Harry’s group will demand anything unreasonable from him.
“I understand,” Charles said with a serious expression.
“As for you guys, every single one of you deserves to die. But that would be a waste since I can’t obtain your evolution orbs. So, I’ll let you live, but you won’t attack or cause any trouble to any human being anymore unless I give the order and you can’t backstab me. Also, every day, you will transfer thirty percent of the evolution coins and orbs that you obtain to me. You guys will also transfer thirty percent your coins to Charles, and he will share those with the other survivors. From now on, you guys will help actively in keeping the city safe; this will be the compensation for your crimes. Disobey those commands and death will be the punishment.”
According to Charles, to obtain the coins and orbs from the people under my command, they also had to agree with it. So I forced them. Besides, I had been pretty lenient, their growth will be slower, but it was better than dying. Also, according to Charles, they would explode from inside thanks to the MP I used to give those orders.
At first, the armed men looked like their fate had been sealed, and even though they didn’t like my terms, they didn't dare to complain. So they just accepted my actions like something inevitable. I also forced them to give me their current amount of evolution coins, but all of them only had half of Ken, and his lackeys had. But, in the end, all the coins that obtained disappeared because I created many weapons and shields to the people of that base. Even after using more fifty thousand evolution coins I couldn’t equip all of those five hundred survivors, but that didn’t matter, as long as they work together; eventually, they become a decent force. It was a pity, but even though I wanted for the sake of efficiency and security, I couldn’t just suddenly appear with an army to my disposal. So I decided to left those thirty-eight assholes with the people in the north, for the time being.
After a few hours, the night finally arrived, and I finished my work. Charles was talking to survivors and giving them some excuse about Ken and his lackeys, he also was telling them about how things would change, a few of them didn’t like the idea about someone like him giving orders, but no one caused problems after seeing that spear in his hands. So, I decided to create an item to heal myself and return to the other hotel. That cost quite a bit because I was more wounded than I thought. I almost died after all, but I only fully understood that after seeing the huge yellow wound on the left side of my body and not seeing my left eye.
‘That electric attack probably burned a lot of my flesh, that’s why I’m still so wounded after two days inside this place. As for the eye… it couldn’t heal probably the explosive dart damaged my head too.’
Ken defeated me because he was stronger and because I didn’t have the necessary means to attack without using my hands. I needed an offensive skill which could be activated solely by my mind; it was the thing that I most needed right at that moment… and I also needed a better brain to plan better my actions.
I created the medicine to heal the wound parts of my body, but I had to wait a few hours to give the medicine time to do its magic. And without any warning, I left the hotel at midnight.

Darth Zaros was the Empire’s Wrath; the greatest Sith Warrior and a man feared across the galaxy. He was also just my Old Republic game character until I somehow woke up as him. Follow along as Zaros uses his powers and more importantly, the knowledge of a fan, to navigate his way through a dangerous Universe. I'm working with a mixture of canon and legends stuff. If it hasn't been written over in canon then it will probably be free game. Because I’m reconciling various different sources, power levels won’t be blown out of proportion to the point that force users become the only relevant people in the Galaxy. I added the gore tag just in case. This is Star Wars, so there won’t be any needless blood spatters, but lightsaber duels often end with some body part cut off.
