《Virus PZDC-21》Chapter 3

Washington. White House.
The President of the United States recently arrived accompanied by his bodyguards. Ministers and scientists who had not succumbed to the virus were summoned to the carpet for a meeting. The situation was dangerous and it was necessary to take action.
Finally, an assistant called him over the intercom.
- Mr. President, everyone has gathered for a meeting.
- Okay.
He got up and walked towards the conference room, his bodyguards escorted him along the way.
However, when the president passed by his aide, he noticed a vase, presumably with flowers. But the flowers were no longer there, only remnants. He was confused and asked.
- What happened with the flowers?
The assistant was embarrassed and answered a little hesitantly.
- Excuse me, Mr. President, I haven't eaten anything since morning ... - he justified himself.
- Seriously? Are you so hungry that you eat flowers? This not normal. - having thought a little, he continued, turning to the security - isolate the assistant and let him be fully checked and take a blood test. - he commanded.
The assistant was frightened, his face turned pale. It seemed that he wanted to say something, but still restrained himself, he did not dare to resist and obediently followed the guard.
Shaking his head, the president went further towards the conference room, he caught himself thinking that he himself was a little hungry.
- Find me a new assistant - he said in passing.
As he walked past another hallway, he heard a noise. Turning, he saw the monster. He ran from the security staff in his direction. The president was shocked and fell into a stupor. It's one thing to see them on video, and quite another to meet them live.
He was so frightened that he could hardly hold back his impulse to escape. His guards had already rushed towards the monster, a few seconds later, in an unequal struggle, the monster was torn to pieces.

President breathed a sigh of relief and finally relaxed, but soon a strange expression appeared on his face.
- Why didn't you shoot? Why attack the monster with your bare hands ?! - the president was indignant.
- Excuse me sir, this is our mistake, apparently we were a little worried - the head of security justified himself, looking at the absurd picture of what had happened.
"Damn it, now I also have to change the security?" The president thought to himself, but decided that the rest would wait, at first he wanted to hear the conclusions of scientists. He continued on his way towards the conference room.
- Mr. President! - those present greeted him.
- Okay, sit down. Tell me what the hell is going on. - he said suppressing irritation.
The Chief Scientist wiped away the remaining sweat on his face and stood up hesitantly.
- Mr. President, I'm afraid I have bad news. About ten percent of the people on the entire planet have turned into flesh and blood monsters. It is assumed that this was due to the effects of some terrible virus that spreads through the air at a staggering speed. - the scientist paused.
- What do you mean assumed? What have you been doing all this time? Didn't you do air and monster analyzes? - the president was indignant.
He felt horror at the realization of the fact that everyone present seemed to be already under the influence of the virus, those around him were no less worried. However, it was too late to start panic now and he wanted to hear the facts.
- We have carried out many tests, in particular on monsters, but no infection or virus was found ... Obviously, this is not possible, so either we are simply unable to detect the virus, or the nature of the virus is completely different from our ideas. - Coughing, he continued.

- Our worries also caused by the fact that monsters can somehow interact with each other, they are even able to use equipment and weapons. Fortunately, there are not too many mutants and physically they are not very strong. Suppressing the monsters is not difficult, I'm sure we can handle it. However, we have no idea how the virus will affect normal people in the future. Various deviations from the norm have already been noticed. You may have noticed that your hunger has increased significantly, the amount of food consumed has increased many times, in this regard, riots began among the population.
- Another side effect is the fact that we cannot use weapons against monsters ... - the scientist said carefully, looking towards the Minister of Defense.
Some people in the room widened their eyes after such a statement.
- What does it mean?! the president blurted out, looking from the scientist to the minister.
- I am afraid that this is the effect of the virus, Mr. President. Many fighters and people who met the monsters said the same thing. They felt a terrible hatred for these creatures, it seemed the world itself was telling them that they must destroy evil spirits. In such circumstances, they would throw themselves at the monsters instinctively and tried to kill them as quickly as possible. But in this state, they completely forgot about the possibility of using improvised means or weapons. We tried to use night vision goggles or other means of limiting vision, but unfortunately this did not help ... However, we can still deliver local attacks with various types of missiles and equipment using the coordinate system and navigation. The main thing is not to see the monsters with your own eyes and to be at a sufficient distance from them ...
There was a short pause, it was difficult to digest such information.
Now the scientist continued.
- There is good news. Although an increased sense of hunger does create a lot of difficulties, at the same time, people's physical characteristics are rapidly progressing. The speed, strength, and especially the regeneration of our organisms is growing rapidly. Unsurprisingly, our bodies require enormous amounts of resources to sustain these changes. I assume that with a high degree of probability, the monsters appeared as a result of prolonged fasting or due to a lack of proper nutrition. We should tell people that as long as they eat well enough, the risk of succumbing to the virus will be minimal.
The President found it a little odd. But on the other hand, this theory made sense. Some other countries may find it difficult to cope with food shortages, but they should not have such problems. Moreover, such a statement will calm the people and reduce the likelihood of unrest.
