-Suppression-
“Mr. Kenshin, not that we are doubting your financial power, but do you have that much money?” Toru asked as his face marred in a scowl. Not only he, but the others also had a questioning look on their faces. One million wasn’t a small amount, even for a powerful hunter of their level. Obviously, they took Kenshin as someone similar to them, how could they believe that he had that much money?
“He’s right, Mr. Kenshin. Since you are bidding for such a high amount, you must first show us that you have that much capital.” Matsuri didn’t back down and said calmly.
“Well, that’s funny. Then show me the proof that you have the amount you just bided.” Kenshin couldn’t help but laugh at them. Do they have to be this shameless? Until now, they didn’t ask about each other's financial proof. But when he bedded, suddenly they needed the proof!
“But we are inside a dungeon. How can we do that?” Douglas said. But his words impacted everyone else who stood against Kenshin. Toru’s had a very colorful expression on his face. Matsuri and the others blushed in shame.
Douglas’ words unexpectedly challenged their basic intelligence level. They couldn’t help but give the dumb man a bone-chilling glare. If not for the fact that they couldn’t easily insult a level hundred hunter, they would have cursed at him openly.
“Then how do you expect me to show my wealth here? Are you dumb?” Others may think twice before insulting but not Kenshin and his team. What had they not experienced? From gods to entities that could wipe out a city in a matter of minutes. To them, this bunch of hunters was like fillers, only there to make up the numbers. Giving them respect was the last thing on their minds.
“Mr. Kenshin, please mind your language.” Matsuri frowned and said coldly. She didn’t like the way Kenshin put it. From the beginning, she had shown an aloof attitude, giving everyone the impression that she was above the rest. Although she showed Kenshin some respect, that was only to the level of outward show.

She hid it well, but she disdained everyone around her.
“Hmm!” Kenshin looked at her and narrowed his eyes. He felt a certain familiarity with this girl. It was like meeting another person who was using the same brand of phone and the same color as you all of a sudden. Kenshin wasn’t a fool. Since he got this feeling, there could only be one possibility.
She was also a system user.
‘System scan.’ He whispered while looking at her.
[Matsuri Hanabishi][Human]
[Title: Apprentice of Midnight Elf]
[Lv 107]
[HP: 7999/7999][MP:3778/5000]
The info about her didn’t give any hint of her possessing a system. But Kenshin had ways to find it out. The old man told him a way to identify a fellow system user without using the system’s detector.
According to the old man, Earth wasn’t advanced enough to establish the ‘title’ system yet. That is to say, no one on Earth could gain a title. Then how come she got one? There were two possibilities. Either she had a system or some higher form of power had influenced her directly. Kenshin couldn’t deny that she was special, for she had what others don’t. However, in the end, it was nothing to him.
‘Her attributes and skills aren’t showing. It must be because of that title.’ Kenshin thought. He wanted to copy her skills, but he couldn’t even see her skills. Kenshin had seen many things. He wouldn’t be surprised this easily.
Kenshin decided to teach her a lesson in humility. Since she was acting lowkey arrogant, he would also do the same.
“Do you have opinions about me, Miss Matsuri?” His voice was light and casual. Just when Matsuri was about to give a sarcastic remark, suddenly, she felt a mountainous weight pressing on her shoulder. Not only her but also everyone around her felt the invisible pressure weighing down on them. Even Osamu, the self-proclaimed tank, felt the effect of this horrible pressure.

Crack!!
Soon, the ground beneath their feet cracked as they gradually sunk into their knees.
‘What is happening?’ Matsuri struggled to stand up and resist the pressure but couldn’t. She tried her hardest but failed. She looked towards Kenshin, who was currently looking at her with a cold smile. Cold sweat oozed from her brows when she saw that smile. It was the smile of an apex predator who was eyeing its prey.
‘Who is he? Why is he so powerful? What exactly is he doing us?’ Matsuri fell into confusion. That confusion soon transformed into fear when she felt herself going weak. She hurriedly closed one of her eyes and took a deep breath. After a second, she opened her eyes in horror and stared at Kenshin.
‘My Helth is going down? How?’ Matsuri couldn’t get the head or tails of anything.
‘What power! And it’s only his presence!’ Osamu exclaimed as he used all the power of his body to endure the effect of the pressure. Even then, he just barely held on. However, The others were far worse off than him.
‘What is happening?’ Toru and the rest gritted their teeth and endured the overwhelming pressure with their own strength. Unfortunately, King’s Presence didn’t affect their physical body, but their very souls.
“1 million gold coins. If you are unsatisfied, then outbid me.” Kenshin said calmly and dismissed the skill. Giving each one a look, he stared at Toru. His eyes drilled holes into the later’s head.
A silence prevailed throughout as no one knew what to say. The gathered hunters all looked at each other's faces with thoughtful expressions. They were thoroughly suppressed by Kenshin’s display of power. As for his claim about outbidding him, none were willing to do it. They don’t have money for it anyway.
Even if they had more money than him, these groups of hunters wouldn’t dare to go against Kenshin after what happened just then.
Seeing their silence, Kenshin smirked and shook his head. “Alright, this book now belongs to me. As for the money.” Kenshin pretended to rummage through his pants, accessed his Inventory, and pulled out his bank’s passbook. With a price as high as one million, each one would get at least a hundred thousand gold coins. Deducting 300,000, he wrote the rest of the amount on the check and handed it to Toru.
“Here. Have fun.”
Then he picked up the book and held it for a few seconds. Suddenly, it vanished in a burst of light. Everyone thought that he learned the skill, but in reality, he just threw it into his Inventory. He didn’t lack skills. Even if he did, he would definitely not use this skill book. He had his system store, after all.
“Alright, let’s proceed.” Kenshin led the way. Joy followed behind him and gave a snort of contempt when he passed through Toru and others. Chiba also gave them a silent look before following behind Joy.
Tadaka was next to go, followed by Osamu. The latter shook his head and laughed as he separated from the group. Toru and the rest looked at each other’s faces as bitter smiles surfaced on their faces.
Matsuri also decided to follow the group. When she passed by Douglas, she gave a contemptuous snort together with a chilling glare. She couldn’t believe that she was partnered with such a dumb man.
She felt humiliated.

The Stars Have Eyes
The universe was a vast, empty, dark, and uncaring place. Then life happened, and the universe was changed forever. Only a teeny-tiny bit, but definitely different. Then again, the universe changes a teeny-tiny bit every second of every day. For instance, if someone were to get off the couch and randomly drink a glass of milk? Bam! One less glass of milk in the universe. Changed forever. Well, excluding any time-travel shenanigans, but anyone who puts a big old hole in the time-space continuum just to un-drink a glass of milk should really reevaluate their priorities. Unless, of course, they were attempting to prevent some massive catastrophe vis-a-vis said glass of milk. Such a scenario is by no means impossible, as one should never underestimate the importance of calcium. Another important tip for any life forms out there is to keep things in perspective. Some look at the vastness of creation in relation to themselves and go, ‘Man, this sucks!’ These people really need to narrow their focus. Sure, they will never affect anything happening on the other end of the galaxy, but so what? That’s way the heck over there, where it doesn’t matter. Therefore, in order to maintain a healthy mindset, it is important to narrow one’s perspective to the things and people that affect them, and that they can affect in turn. But what happens if one is an unfathomable cosmic being from beyond the veil of reality? What happens when such an existence is capable of influencing entire swathes of the universe just by its presence? A creature such as Magh'rathlak the Observer? That particular entity is only about average as far as reality-warping creatures from the dawn of time go, so its influence over the fabric of reality is rather limited. And it still struggles to keep things in perspective. That, among other things, is why it decided to narrow its worldview a bit by compressing the maddening vastness of its being into a single corporeal form. Magh'rathlak had never tried such a feat, but that wasn't about to stop it. After all, how hard could being human possibly be?

Trickster's Tale (Book 1): Is That A Lute In Your Pocket will release on Kindle Unlimited on the 10th of May.Due to KU's exclusivity rules, I've had to take most of book 1 down.Book 1 Bard's Ballad takes place in the same extended Universe as my other story, The Houndsman. It's set on a distant 'disk', though. As a result, the magic system is unique in comparison and has a harder LitRPG system. While the story utilises stats, it doesn't take them seriously and occasionally makes fun of regular LitRPG mechanics.

Tales of a Grim World.
Ancient prophecies say that once every thousand years, one shall rise to bring about a new age of darkness. A harbinger of evil, a being born for the sole purpose of sowing misery and disgrace. Through them, the world shall know of war, famine, pestilence and death— the four seals that herald the end of times. Besieged by the maws of evil, humankind shall suffer in agony as they watch everything they once knew be unmade before them. To oppose such a being, the whole world has had to stand united, in the battles that came to be historically known as the Great Holy Wars. Guided by the Saintess of Irithel, brave heroes coming from the four corners of the world had to sacrifice their lives in order to fight against the Harbinger and cast away the darkness. Our story begins in the year 578, a bit over six hundred years since the end of the fifth holy war. In the kingdom of Valtia, a small nation belonging to the Union of Western Kingdoms, an urgent missive bearing the royal seal arrives at the hands of Earl William Taylor. Though it might still be almost half a millennia too early for another Harbinger to be born, dark clouds already loom over the northern continent of Gram, as many bizarre events start taking place. Follow the story of our main characters as they struggle to survive in a grim, unforgiving world. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Warning: This work is intended for mature audiences and contains adult scenes and heavy descriptions of violence and gore.
