-Doom Fest(5)-
Boom!!
A huge explosion rocked the earth, disturbing dust and debris into the air, as a slim body jumped out, holding what looked like a huge ax. She had long blue hair that flowed like a tranquil river, and on her body was a thick yellow armor.
She somersaulted on the mid-air, and landed heavily on the ground, forming cracks on it. After that, she wiped the corner of her mouth to wipe away a thin line of blood that leaked out. Narrowing her eyes towards the vaguely humanoid figure that was slowly walking out of the explosion site, she involuntarily took a step back.
Swish!!
With a gust of wind, a man appeared beside her, wearing the same type of armor as her. In his hands was a huge shield whose length was even more than his whole height. He looked fine everywhere, not even a single dust was on his pristine form. He looked at the vague humanoid form that was walking out ever so slowly, “what’s the situation?”
“It has completely adapted to my fighting style and even vaguely showing resistant towards my skills… at this rate, I will be completely ineffective against it, like them.” She said, pointing her head towards a group of people circling around the battlefield. Among them stood that man in a karate gi and the young girl with the bow.
“If that’s the case, then it will be troubling for us in the long run. If it becomes immune to all of our attacks, how are we gonna ever stop it?” the man wondered with a frown, caressing the edges of his shield. They had arrived and engaged this weird creature for three hours, and this unique creature had rendered most of them useless.
“It only has one skill, that too a passive one… but how can it give all of us so much trouble? And it’s still level 10… this doesn’t make sense at all.” The girl stamped her feet in frustration, as she complained to the shield man.

“I don’t know either. But, I think even though that skill is just a passive, it’s what allowed it to get immune to all of our skills eventually. It’s better if we refrain from using our skills as much as possible, lest it gets immune to our life-saving ones too.” The shield man said, slamming the shield angrily after.
The force of slam created a gust of wind that blew away all the dust and debris covering their vision, revealing their opponent. It was a grotesque looking, prehistoric animal that walked with its hind legs shaped like that of a reptile. Its front legs were shrunken and were barely visible. It had a huge, crocodile-like jaw and seven eyes on its head. Three tentacles were sticking out its back, acting as its weapon.
Roar!!!
It roared after seeing both humans standing before it and made a leap towards the woman, who had succeeded in hurting it many times in the past few minutes.
“Ha!!!” the man with huge shield appeared, blocking its attack, at the same time, he gave it a jerk, throwing it back. The woman took this tome and mounted a few attacks on the animal, throwing it further away.
[??? ???]
[Level 10]
[HP: 1000/2000]
This surprise attack sipped away one thousand of its original 2k HP, and yet it didn’t ease the two people who were fighting. They didn’t press forward, instead used this time to create distance and fortify their defense.
Roar!!
A heart-piercing roar sounded, that sent cold chills across their spines. Followed by it, came the creature, that despite looking like a prehistoric being, had the same height as a cow. It looked grotesque and didn’t have any skin on its body. From one look and it would make anyone puke. Even then, these people were fighting it while suppressing their urges.
The creature leaned down and bite out a piece of earth, and started to chew on it. As ti swallowed, it’s HP miraculously started to regain, until it reached 2k once again. This wasn’t their first time seeing it, so, when the creature healed itself just by consuming the ground, not much of reaction could be seen on the faces of the gathered hunters. They had already gotten tired of being surprised.

After it healed it’s HP to maximum, the grotesque creature set it’s sight upon the huge shield, as if perceiving it to be a danger to its life. It had already eaten loss at the hands of this shield, so no doubt, it would be wary of it. The creature then stared at the sky with its mouth wide open, as the two of its six tentacles started to vibrate, before morphing into a red-colored, sword-like object. The edges of this morphing were extremely sharp, looking deadly and disastrous.
The monster then jumped to the sky and aligned itself horizontally to the ground before rotated around itself at such a high speed that it looked like a gearwheel turning instead of a monster's actions. The two tentacles acted as buzzsaw, looking deadly and sharp. As it rotated at a very high velocity, a faint humming noise came from them. Its target from the beginning was the man… well not exactly him, but the shield he held.
As it descended highspeed above the man, by instinct, he used his shield to block the attack.
Crack!!
The impact caused the ground beneath the man’s foot to give in, causing spider-like cracks to form everywhere. Using the cracked ground like a springboard, he waved his shield, with a roar, throwing the creature far from him. Then using the recoil, he jumped back to create some distance.
At that instant, the ax-wielding woman came running and attacked the creature that was yet to regain its footing form the shield man’s throw. Taking what the man said earlier into her mind, she didn’t use her skills, rather only used her ax to hack at the monster.
Each time her ax touched its body, a ‘-8’ floated above it. This caused the woman to frown, complaining at the high defense of the creature.
Standing far from the actual battle, the woman who helped Adam to save his friend looked at the strange creature, and her eyes widened as a certain understanding dawned upon her. She looked at the karate-gi man beside her and said, “Hey, don’t you think something weird here?”
Hearing the very silent voice, the karate man looked at her with furrowed brows, a frown marred his face, “the whole thing is strange in itself… what can be stranger than that?” he then shook his head, muttering immature brats under his breath. Then with a serious look, he continued to observe the battle. His mood wasn’t right, and he was filled with shame and humiliation at being made to guard around when he was all high and mighty not a few hours ago, claiming himself to be chosen one and whatnot.
“I, I don’t mean that. Look, when Park Hanbie threw that creature, it took no less than 1k damage, and yet when miss Milena was attacking it with her ax, it was taking much less damage… I find it extremely strange.” The girl raised a valid point, but the man was in no mood to consider it. he snorted at her, and claimed her hypothesis as bullshit before continuing to observe the battle.
His eyes contained prejudice and bias towards the woman who was actively attacking the creature, the one named Malena.

Vemödalen: From The Other Side

One to wander the realm in search of power, to protect themselves and what they believe in. They know their path to be the only one. Writers note: The first chapter will set the standard in terms of mood for the remainder of the story. It also comes to no surprise to me that half the people who read the first part stop reading any further. It has quite a bit of the good ‘ol ‘ultra-violence’ mixed with a great deal of realism. As much as I could fit into it from my own knowledge and experience in the elite forces. The first few chapters will be slow, after, but starting from ‘Restless Destroyer’ the remainder of the world will start to open up, and when we hit ‘Adronitis’ the prologue is largely finished. The novel is well thought out and filled with hidden lore, culture, history. So even if my word choice appears random – it’s not. There is a reason why these chapters take as long as they do. Vermodalen is fantasy adventure, with magic and heroics in an as realistic setting as I could fit. Things are rarely what they seem, and the ugly nature of people bleed through the letters at the turn of every page. I hope you can give this story a fair chance, even if it isn’t immediately to your taste. Lastly, english isn't my first language. It isn't my second one either. So, if you find errors in grammer and spelling, wordplay and sentance building, do let me know, and you will be rewarded by a surge of dopamine that will be released inside your brain for helping someone whom you haven't even seen or heard.
