-Outbreak(7)-
“So, are we getting through or not?” Kenshin asked impatiently as he stared at the man who was in charge of the device.
“I am trying sir, the signal tower isn’t working properly due to the black fog of this island.” The man timidly replied as he looked at the machine with a frown. He wasn’t a hunter and just a normal civilian with extensive engineering knowledge. His job was only to monitor the signal device and send emergency signals in case of something going wrong. Usually, his manager would be the one giving him orders, but today a bunch of scary-looking hunters barged into the office, then proceeded to throw the manager out of the window when he shouted and now ordering him around.
No wonder his heart was beating like a fucking drum in a concert.
While Kenshin was haggling with the man, the other hunters who surrounded the office stared at this back, remembering what just happened a few minutes ago before coming here.
…
“Hey, I am talking to you, how dare you ignore me?” Taka shouted in a fury. Kenshin’s ignorance made him furious. He felt like his pride was hurt.
But Kenshin paid him no mind. On the contrary, he started leading hack and Satoru towards the east coast region with the help of his map. With the three people’s back turned at him, Taka couldn’t contain his anger anymore.
“You bastard!!” screaming loudly, he pulled out his ax and was about to hack at Kenshin while aiming at his sides to scare him, a flash of light blinded him for a second, stopping him on his tracks. When he regained his vision, he nearly peed his pants at sight before him. A long scar formed on the ground, starting from Kenshin’s right side, towards his back, going through his right side and missing him by a hair’s breadth. Not only the scar was extremely long, possibly extending at least 10 meters or longer, it was also deep enough to bury a person.

“Next time, this hard-line will go through you.” After that, Kenshin left the place, followed by Hack and Satoru. The left-behind 8 hunters were mimicking the expression of a fish out of the water as they stared between retreating back of Kenshin and the huge scar created by him on the ground using what seemed to be the sword in his waist.
“C, cool!” the girl who was behaving like a fangirl form the beginning of Kenshin’s appearance said timidly, before slowly following behind Kenshin and co.
…
After that, everyone also followed, even Taka and his two cronies followed the group. They understood that staying in a group was many times safer than operating alone. Besides, the strength of Kenshin was so unexpected that he was left tonguetied.
Kenshin noticed that man following him, but didn’t haggle with him for that. He had taken that earlier situation like a random dog barking at him; you won't bark at a dog if it does so, would you? You can only ignore it. He had more pressing matters to attend, like warning everyone of this shady drops emerging from level 10+ dungeons.
“Finally!! Sir, it's done. I have established contact with the main office of Hitachinaka.” The man shouted after seeing that the contact had finally established.
“Good!, now step aside.” Kenshin snatched the communicator from him and started, “Hello? Anyone there?”
{Its Hitachinaka Main office Communication Center. May I know with whom I am talking?} A female's voice came from the speakers. Kenshin nodded his head in appreciation.
“I am Kenshin Muto, a hunter. My license id is xxxxxx, you can check it later, we have an emergency here. Can you please send a rescue boat to our location, there is something wrong here, and people are killing each other. No wait, do one thing, patch me up to Miss Yuki, you will find the clearance if you check my ID number.”
{Got it sir, please wait a second.}
“…”
{Sir, I have confirmed your identity and this call is forwarding to the main office of Mito.}

{Hello! Kenshin? Where are you?} it was definitely Yuki’s voice, but she sounds frantic. Kenshin’s heart sank to the bottom.
“Yuki, there is an emergency here…”
{Forget about that, I am sending a dinghy to your location. Quickly come to Mito as soon as possible, you have to defend the city with other hunters ASAP.} hearing the urgency in her tone, Kenshin frowned.
“Defend from what?” he asked, although the had a pretty good guess of what it could be.
{Don’t know the origin, but it’s a black thing which had taken the shape of a huge prehistoric dinosaur with wings. It’s totally immune to all forms of attacks. And its main for the attack was some kind of tentacle from its body… kinda gross if you ask me.}
“I see, I was just about to tell you about them… wait, how come Mito is in danger?”
{Huh! What do you mean? Do you have some info about them?} Yuki was quick to catch on to Kenshin’s half-finished sentence.
“That I do…” Kenshin proceeded to give her the info of everything he had gathered after fighting with them for quite a while. After finishing his list, he asked once again, “Tell me, Yuki, why is Mito is in danger?”
{One of those flying types is heading for Mito and is halfway to there from Tokyo. Tokyo was already in a chaotic mess. Ah! Don’t worry, Akari is alright. All the students of the academy were transported to a secure place the moment the attack began.}
“Alright, I got it. Thank you. I will head for Mito as soon as possible now. Please send a dinghy. Either way, there are people, hunters waiting for someone to rescue them… we are kind of trapped here with no way out.”
{Alrigth. Come quick. Arguably, you are the strongest hunter of Mito; as such you must join the front lines. Also, your valuable experience will come in handy while handling such monsters. You might be asked to move around a lot after Mito’s situation was settled, so be prepared.}
“I hope I will get extra pay from this.” Kenshin joked with a frown.
{Don’t worry about it.}
With the connection was cut off and the line going blank, Kenshin put down the receiver and looked at everyone gathered around him. He had been talking with the receiver this whole time as such everyone heard the content of their speech. There was no need to explain it once again.
Facing them Kenshin gave a wry smile before shouting, “There you have it. A dinghy will arrive after a few hours. Board it and immediately hurry out of this place. Spread everything that happened here as many people as possible. Make everyone aware of this danger.”
“YES!!” everyone shouted, rocking the office violently with their collective intents going haywire.
“Good!” then Kenshin looked at Hack and Satoru, “guys, it seems I must leave for my city. You should also do so and defend your respective cities. I have already memorized your numbers. As soon as I arrive at a network reach zone, I will send a text message. See you!!”
“Wai-” before they both could say anything, Kenshin had already left the place like a ghost, leaving behind only a fading after image. He had used [Five-point movement] to get out of the office via the same window, which they used to throw out the manager earlier and run towards the direction where Mito supposed to be.
With his agility, he can easily run on the surface of the water with a mild usage of [Water step] passive every so often. Also, he had seen a hunter walking on water before, by using her magic and WIL in conjugation, she somehow managed to treat the water surface as flat ground. After doing a few research on it, Kenshin figured out the trick behind it. Now he can also run on water like a certain yellow-haired human sacrifice.
