-Vol 5: A New Life-
-Chapter 292-
At the end of the day, the doctor had discharged him on account of a full recovery and even better health than all his past health reports. Although the doctors and the nurses were surprised, they quickly adapted to it. It was a DCB hospital, and they deal with all kind of people with weird skills, so it was nothing great to encounter a person with a heightened healing factor.
After that, they took Yuki’s car and traveled back to Mito. For now, Kenshin and Joy had set course to the place where the third member of their yet-to-form party belongs to. Since his phone was destroyed due to shock waves when he killed the dragon, he had lost all the contact numbers until he gets a new phone and logs in to his back-up account.
“Lily and I have sued all of them. Currently, more than twenty people are court-martialed. Of course, the police didn’t get any clues about the involvement of that family from them.” Yuki informed him as she drove the car. Kenshin was sitting on the front seat, wearing a black colored short pant and dark blue t-shirt and a pair of sneakers. It was brought by Yuki as his clothes were destroyed by the shockwave. Even his blood armor set was no-where to be seen. Kenshin had mourned for a quite a while for the loss of his prized possession.
It not only gave him a heightened DEF, but it also held sentimental value for him. After all, it was a memento of his first battle where he fought with his life on the line, after getting the system. If nothing else, he would have kept it as a battle prize. He had decided to buy a new piece of armor tonight. At the same time, he wanted to make use of a treasure that he had received since the mission of the north pole.
“It has to be expected. There would be no way they would implicate that family when their family’s life is on the line. These people are just expandables, and they know themselves know it too. Sigh! I hope those hidden people get the message I want to relay…” Kenshin sighed and looked out of the window, with his head filled with many things. Behind, Joy was snoring away without a care in the world.

“Don’t worry, they will get it. Besides, I don’t think that Kawakuchi family would go all the way in their standing in this fight just for a minor misunderstanding. The head of the family isn't that foolish.” Yuki explained. Well, she just repeated what Lily had told her. This also serves that family as a warning to not go beyond their limits.
No matter how much power that family accumulated throughout all these years, Kenshin’s backing was actually higher than them if he takes Yuki’s status as a consideration factor. Of course, he won't say no to that. Yuki was nonetheless his girlfriend now, although he had yet to verbally propose her. He was determined to do that within these few days. Since Yuki would be his family in the future, what’s the problem in using her help? At this time, Kenshin won't refuse even if the prime minister himself wants to ally with him to eradicate that family.
“I hope so. And, did you find anything from that guy I have caught?” Kenshin asked, changing the topic. He didn’t want to think of this matter anymore right now.
“Nothing. By now, we have already endured quite a few retaliation. At first, we didn’t know the reason, but it all became clear yesterday. This man’s friends are trying to rescue him. You have indeed caught a big fish. There is also a security breach, someone schemed through all the hunters that undertook secret missions recently. Without a doubt, their target is…”
“Me!” Kenshin finished.
“Right! They might want to take revenge, so they are searching for you, or there might be some other reason. We have yet to record it officially so, you will not be getting caught anytime soon. In the time being, I will exhaust all my powers to track out their background and the place they are staying at.” Nodding her head, Yuki described her current course of action.
After that, there was silence with Joy’s snores being only sound that could be heard inside the car. At that time, as if coming to a decision, Kenshin looked at Yuki and opened his mouth.

“That day before I returned to the home, I have been confronted by Lily. She wanted to recruit me to some secret organization. We…ehhh…kind fought with each other. And I barely…”
“You got your ass handed by her!” Yuki quipped.
“Eh…not the exact word. I lost elegantly. Okay! ‘Elegantly’ please note the difference.”
“Of course!” Yuki smiled that looked more like a smirk.
“Hey! We fought to a draw okay!?” Kenshin protested. Even so, Yuki’s teasing smile didn’t falter.
“With her holding back!”
“Hey, I was also holding back a lot you know!?”
“yeah! Yeah!”
“You don’t believe me?” Kenshin huffed as he stared out of the window.
“Of course I do! I know you pulled a draw with her.”
“That face didn’t belong to someone who believes me! That’s it. We are not talking about this anymore…wait a minute? Do you know what happened that day? About Lily’s true status!” Suddenly Kenshin realized that Yuki was behaving unusually mild as if the secret he just revealed wasn’t that much a secret to her.
“I had doubts since the beginning. I had a hunch that she was more than what she lets on. That day, before the official start of the sea monster mission, she told me everything. I don’t know why she had a change of heart…maybe she was up to something!?”
“Well maybe…but I don’t think she would be one for using underhand tactics to deal with such situations.” After listening to Yuki, Kenshin felt like a pauper. He felt a little embarrassed as he acted all mysterious just now.
“heh! You seem awfully knowledgeable about her attitude!” Kenshin smelled something in Yuki’s voice. For the sake of peace of the world as well as his mind, he intelligently kept quite.
“I have crossed sword with her. Sometimes warriors learn about each other when they fight you know?”
“Where did you hear that cheap dialogue? It's so corny that it made me shiver just now!” Yuki snapped at Kenshin’s corny answer.
“Hey now! Don’t belittle the warrior code.”
Amidst their bickering, they tread the way for Mito.
A few hours later~
“Okay, you boys should go by bus. I am going to sleep in my own bed for the whole day.” With that Yuki left Kenshin and Joy in front of DCB’s front gate and drove away to her apartment.
“That girl! She should have dropped me in my home instead of here. She got a car anyway!” Shaking his head, Kenshin turned around and walked to the direction of his home. “hey, Joy, follow me.”
“Coming!”
>>>
“Heh! So this is your house? It looks similar to my old apartment…” Joy spoke his mind when they reached the front gate of the Kenshin’s apartment and Mrs. Yui’s bakery. They both had a common gate, except for the shop shutter in the front.
“Of course. I have way too many memories attached to this place. I can’t make up my heart to lave this place. Come in. lets me change into something good before we go out.” Opening the gate, Kenshin beckoned Joy to follow him.
Just before Joy entered, he saw a car covered in black covers. Its entire body was sealed and covered, not allowing anyone to see what’s underneath.
“Oh! Looks like my rides here already!” shouting in surprise, Kenshin went at it in long strides. Holding onto the covers of the car, he slowly pulled it out.
“It's your car? Let me se---DAMN!!” when the car was revealed at all its glory, Joy couldn’t keep down his voice at all.

The Ruins of Magincia
They say all things end in time, but the exalted City of Magi would’ve begged to differ. Yet when an attempted coup goes wrong, the city finds itself brought to the very brink of destruction. In the wake of the calamity that left no survivors, the autonomous infrastructure still operating the ruined city seeks to restore what was lost. Luckily for it, the Mana-devoid Universe it awoke in holds an unexpected surprise: a planet full of sentient life forms. All capable—with a little help—to become the next generation of Magi. Back on Earth, Millie McArthur is a pregnant out-of-work mechanic struggling with the prospect of moving back in with her parents after leaving her unfaithful fiancé. That is until she finds herself just one of the hundreds that have been shanghaied by the callous artificial constructs still manning the ruins of Magincia. Now, she must struggle to learn magic, compete for resources, get good 'grades,' and fulfill the seemingly arbitrary requirements for her future job in this broken city. All while keeping herself, and her son, alive. Is the miracle of magic really enough to make up for all the pain? The Ruins of Magincia is a dark fantasy that's heavy on the drama (LitRPG aspects are very light). Chapter lengths can be anywhere from 7k-12k and there's no current release schedule as I'm focusing on wrapping up volume one.

Trial of Champions
It all began with a family trip to an amusement park. How were any of us to expect being transported from Earth to participate in some "Trial of Champions," whatever that was supposed to be? Given only an hour to choose the Classes that would come to define our strengths, we were almost immediately torn away from one another and thrust into a deadly game of survival. It wasn't all bad, though, as terrifying as it could be from time to time. The supernatural and magical powers of the Classes were like something out of an RPG, complete with leveling up by killing monsters and completing so-called "Sub-Trials." And despite the juicy Experience to be gained from killing other Champion Contestants, not all of the participants were bloodthirsty murderers; some could be allied with, or even befriended. Even if it seemed like everyone who had been chosen for this Trial, no matter what universe they came from, was at least a little bit crazy. I would survive this till the end, and I'd make sure that my siblings and parents did as well, no matter how many times we were separated from one another. No matter how long it took. No matter what I had to do. --- A first-person litRPG incorporating classes inspired by D&D and other sources. If you like blue boxes but don't need to have huge lists of numbers to scratch your itch, you should be satisfied on that front. Each chapter is, in my word processing document, seven pages long (approximately 3300-3900 words). The Traumatizing Content warning is there because of discussions of certain topics. Nothing that I think deserves the warning actually happens in the story.

Midnight Origins: Arrival
On a lush planet known as Bhar, Verun is now the leading nation in the development of the rivaled schools of Magic and Science. Having brought forth an era of peace and prosperity for themselves through the development of Magitech, The High council was eager to spread their knowledge and beliefs to the furthest reaches of the continent, with the goal of ending senseless conflicts and prioritizing advancements in Magitech and improving the quality of life. This ambition, however, is not without opposition. Most followers side with one school or another, believing it is superior in nature. This conflict dates back to the very beginning of civilization itself, where it is believed by both sides that their gods descended from the heavens, bestowing upon them the knowledge that would bring the world into a new age. And though some took great interest in their differences, others would seek to convert each other through any means necessary. That being the case, The High council, leaders of Verun, had made the necessary preparations to handle threats and attempt diplomacy between the remaining opposers. Talented volunteers were hand chosen to be among the military, tasked with protecting the nation from both internal and external threats. And although non-biological creations have improved quality of life, they are not yet capable of replacing the military. The necessary research and development for such a thing was thought to be decades away, until Councilman Eranor encountered an anomaly in his facility…
