-Fist fighting with Monkeys(2)-
Leo, a fairly high-level hunter, had come to Japan to tour around and enjoy the scenery. While at it, he decided to hit the dungeon and experience the uniqueness of it. Leo was from South America region. There his status wasn’t that high, and the competition was intense. The district he was from only had one dungeon and that too a Level 5 one. Him being an only level 38 hunter, clearing that alone was not something he could even dream about.
For that reason, he would often form a party with others of same strength to clear it. But they could never hope to go beyond the 3rd floor. But even within this third floor, making 10,000 to 20,000$ per month was still no problem for him. But compared some of the top hunters who could make the same amount of money just from their single raid, he was still a bottom feeder. Even so, he had a hobby of travelling around and take in different sites. He would go to other countries every month to tour around and also challenge some of the dungeons there.
This month, he had decided to come to Japan and travel around. Today would be his last day in Japan, after that he would have to return to his country again. As such, he decided to raid this level 3 dungeon that he found in this tiny town. Until now, he was fairing good, the monsters were weak compared to him, and the drops were also excellent. Most importantly, here nobody was competing with him just for a single fur. He felt a rare sense of happiness that he would never feel back in his town. The number of materials he had collected until now, if he had to take an educated guess, it would be around 2,000$, one-fifth of his monthly income back in his home.

Unfortunately, in this current era, getting a residence of another country was close to impossible if you are a hunter. Forget about the other country, your own country wouldn't allow you to go out of the country for more than a month. Even if it was a level 10 hunter, he still couldn’t leave the country. This is the reason why Leo would often go to different countries every month. He would not only sightsee, at the same time he would challenge the dungeons there. Though the country would take away 40% of his total income, the remaining was still enough for him to enjoy a luxurious life for the rest of the month.
“Quadrupulet Stab!” Leo screamed at the top of his lung and stabbed the two daggers in his hand onto the four monkeys surrounding him. The dagger hummed as a red light engulfed the blades before going through the strong fleshes of these monkeys like a hot knife through butter. The knives penetrated the chest cavity of the monsters, puncturing their hearts and killing them instantly.
“Wow!”
“So strong!”
“This foreigner is just too strong! I wonder what his current level is?”
“I wonder if he is still single!”
His gorgeous kill instantly roused the attention of nearby hunters who were hunting for monsters and different materials. Some girls even fantasized about marrying the foreigner. Hearing such praises, Leo couldn’t help but feel good about himself. Such praises were rare even in other countries. The people there were too territorial and reserved, unlike the people here who would lay bare their admiration and disgust in front of everyone.
‘Hmph! These people. Just what do they know about being strong?’ Leo disdained them in his heart. In this level 3 dungeon, where the maximum level a monster could be level 30, he was a like a reincarnated person in another world with an OP cheat. His every strike would slay a monster despite their toughness and intelligence. Since he had a few viewers, he would also pose for them every now and then, eliciting a round of shouts.

The gloomy and dangerous forest became a stage show by these people. Disregarding any dangers, they indulged themselves in Leo’s show.
Just as the crowd was at the height of excitement after Leo did a quadruple kill, suddenly everyone heard a rustling sound. It was very slow and couldn’t be clearly heard unless everyone pays attention to it. As everyone anticipated silent while clutching each other's weapons, even Leo became a little serious, the sound became louder. Soon, the trees around them started to shake uncontrollably as if someone shaking them with everything they had, accompanied it was a shrill noise which sounded like hundreds of these monkeys shouting at the same time. It was very ear-piercing and chilling.
Leo gripped his daggers even more tightly as a formless aura emanated from his body. In nervousness, he no longer wished to hold back his full strength. The tree shaking didn’t stop. Also, the ground started to shake as if a stampede was happening.
“What is this?” a hunter couldn’t handle the nervousness and shouted loudly.
“A monster stampede!” another hunter shakingly said while looking around himself, expecting the monsters to pop out from anywhere.
“How can that be? A month ago, some set to fire all these monsters, how can there be a monster stampede so soon?” a knowledgeable hunter screamed.
“Dunno! It might not be a monster stampede!” a hopeful female hunter said in a troubling voice.
‘I understand you guys worry, but why are you all standing behind me?’ Leo couldn’t help but scream as he saw all the hunters were now standing behind him while looking at a different direction. He was just thinking about fleeing when the monsters appear, but due to now people standing behind him, he could no longer choose that option.
The shaking of trees, as well as the ground’s rumbling, slowly became even more intense. The screech of the monkeys became painful to hear, with sweats pouring out of their brows, the monkeys anticipated the arrival of the so-called monster stampede. Finally, just when the wait became unbearable, a lean shadow landed in front of them, accompanied by booming noise and crouched down at the same time. The weight as well as a force at which the figure landed, caused the ground to give in and form a huge trench in the process.
Some of the powerful hunters including Leo who clearly saw what was going on. It was surprisingly a man, no older than 25 maybe. He was wearing a short pant, having his upper body lay bare for everyone to see. His black hair, which was not that long, was swishing in the air, giving off a heroic appearance. Now that he was crouched down, the people standing in his back could perfectly see the defined muscles visible on the man’s back.
The girls who were swooned over Leo earlier, now couldn’t take their eyes off the man’s back. Some even unconsciously licked their lips as they fantasized about licking these muscles to their heart’s content. But their fantasies were to be put on hold as suddenly the sky darkened. Looking up, they found many, many humanoid shadows coming their way.
Before these human shadows landed on the ground, the man moved. He jumped up, creating another dent on the ground and kicked the nearest humanoid figure, sending it to fly. At the same time, he kicked another few and punched a few more.
The scene oddly reminded these standing hunters of some of the old-school kung-fu movies where the hero fought against many enemies at the same time. At the same time, one question circling around everyone’s head- what the hell is happening here?

Runicka: Tournament of Monsters (A GameLit Card Game Fantasy)
The runes are changing, and with it, the game itself changes. Taygion Ardwella finds himself stranded, alone, and on the run from some very determined guards who claim Tay's stolen from them. They're right, but that shouldn't mean Tay has to give back what he took. He's only been in Stormwall for a week and already, he's earning the ire of the most powerful and notorious House that controls the city's underground. And when their scion challenges Tay to a duel of cards, Tay will find himself thrust into a game of sorcery and strategy as he attempts to both find a way out of this mess and find his own way in the world. To do both, he'll need to learn to accept guidance and coaching where it's sorely needed, craft a deck of unimaginable power, and not die whenever his opponents try and cheat him out of a hard-earn victory. But not all is as it seems in the shadows of Stormwall, and if Tay can figure out the importance of what it is he's stolen, he may just have a chance at saving the game of Runicka. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Runicka: Tournament of Monsters is a high fantasy, card game-based adventure novel with enough magic, worldbuilding, and characters to fill a Sanderson series. I would consider it a part of the GameLit subgenre. This series in particular is not an isekai, and will start and end in a high fantasy setting complete with its own lore and backstory. It is a progression fantasy, and I am writing it inspired by all the Yu-Gi-Oh mangas/animes, and all the hours I've invested/wasted (depending on who you ask) playing TCGs like Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic: The Gathering. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is a work in progress. In your journey through Stormwall alongside Tay, you'll probably find typos, grammatical errors, and maybe a confusing sentence every once in a while (although I hope to keep these to a minimum). That said, comments and suggestions on where I can improve are not only encouraged but greatly appreciated. And finally, expect new chapters every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~**Currently on a small hiatus. I have a bit of a workplace crisis going on. I'm still writing, but I don't have time to polish and publish. Chapters will return on a regular basis soon though!!**
