-Vol 5: A New Life-

-Nuking her worries!-

“Good night sir!” the man guarding the outer gate saluted Kenshin when he saw him coming out. Then his face showed a colourful expression when he saw him walking hand in hand with the lady who just entered the building before him. The reason why his face changed colours because the status of that lady wasn’t that simple. She was someone to whom even their commander has to be polite while talking, let alone him. To see someone with that kind of reputation showing a love-struck expression, a surreal sight indeed.

‘What an interesting couple.’ The soldier mused while looking at the back of the retreating duo.

Although Kenshin and Yuki were holding hands, their relationship didn’t proceed a single step forwards. Its still there where they had left three years ago, holding hands was just a spur of the moment decision.

“Where should we go for dinner?” Kenshin asked as they both walked down the streets. The night was still young, and there were still many people seen loitering around, although not many as it was near a government building.

“Anywhere is fine. I am too hungry to think about it, let's just go quick. We also have to return to Mito today.” Yuki said as she snuggled into his side, even more, showing an expression of the content cat.

“Okay! Then let's go to Mayan’s Restaurant. I heard they sell international cuisine there.” Kenshin said.

“What? Mayan’s! Kenshin that restaurant is a very expensive place. Even a glass of water will cost more than 20 USD there. there is no need for us to go there, let's just go some local food stalls.” Yuki denied. She was very much aware of his financial condition, although he was a powerful and magic skill user now, its only two months. He shouldn’t have earned that much money in just two days! Due to her kidnapping, she couldn’t bring her credit cards and purse. She was reluctant to go there.

“Don’t worry about money, its all on me. Today is my treat so you must enjoy it without complaining.” Kenshin said with a smile. It was indeed a matter of pride while taking the girl you like to somewhere for dinner. Every male has that kind of pride, they never want to be on the weak side while in front of their girl. Kenshin was also not different, he also wanted to take his girl to an expensive place and have a luxurious dinner. He also wanted to gift his girlfriend a precious gift. All these things would not have possible for him if he didn’t get this system, it was why he was very thankful for its appearance.

“Huh! Well…okay.” Yuki also understood Kenshin’s intentions, as a smart girl she didn’t make him awkward by declining his offer. After that, they both strolled towards the nearest Mayan’s Resturant chain. Right now they both unaware of a shadow following them, even the people walking around didn’t seem to notice that shadow tailing the couple.

“Welcome, sir and madam. How can I help you?” as they entered the nearest restaurant, a pretty waitress came forth to welcome them.

“Yes. Please take us to the deluxe suite and a table for two.” Kenshin spoke like a pro, like how he had seen on the internet. He had never gone to a high-class restaurant ever, so to not be embarrassed himself, he did some research on the internet. He had researched how to act inside of such restaurants so that he could act naturally when he has to go.

His act was so natural that even Yuki was fooled and looked at him in surprise.

“Certainly sir. Please come this way.” The waitress didn’t think it was strange and lead them inside with a smile. Both Kenshin and Yuki quite followed her inside. The waitress brought them to the fourth floor before leading them to a room with only one table and two chairs. It’s the deluxe suite that Kenshin had asked for.

“Here” the waitress pulled out the chair for the lady first before proceeding to do the same for Kenshin. After making them sit, she went out of the room and disappeared somewhere. Now finding themselves alone couldn’t control herself and asked to clear her curiosity.

“Have you come to this kind of restaurants before?”

“No! Today is my first time.” Kenshin answered honestly.

“But you acted so naturally there. I thought you have come here with others before.” She smiled and said probingly.

“Umu. I did a lot of research on the internet. I have to watch a few videos and rehearsal a few times to get things right.” Kenshin sighed and explained. He really worked hard to have a perfect date with Yuki. It’s a shame that it was ruined by those people.

“pft…ha ha ha…” Yuki couldn’t control herself and laugh out loud. It was amusing, his words coupled with the face he just made when he told the reason, she couldn’t help but find it funny.

On the other hand, Kenshin was transfixed at the sound and face of Yuki when she laughed while displaying her pearl-like teeth.

Noticing Kenshin’s weird face, she stopped her laughing and asked: “What are you looking at?”

“you are very beautiful when you laugh. You should laugh more while you are with me, it makes you look beautiful.”

“You! Aren’t you feel embarrassed to spout such cheesy lines? Did you also learned this from the internet?” Yuki instantly flushed red and ‘angrily scolded’ Kenshin. But she was pleased in her heart for his complement despite how cheesy it sounded.

“No. I just speaking my heart. You indeed look beautiful when you laugh. I swear!”

“Shut up! Even if you aren’t ashamed, I am.” Yuki couldn’t no longer stomach it. Even if its sweet to hear, it's very embarrassing if someone else hears it.

Before Kenshin could retort, the waitress returned with another waiter. They both holding decorated ceramic plates in their hands. The waitress was carrying a black leather book-like object, probably the menu. The waiter was carrying two glasses of water.

The waitress circled around the table and went to the other side and handed the books one to Kenshin and other to Yuki. At the same time, the waiter placed the two glasses of water on the table and reiterated.

“Order what you like. I will just order the same thing as you.” Kenshin smiled and said to Yuki.

“Eh! Really? Okay then.” After that she dipped her head into the menu, looking for the cheapest items available. As if knowing what she was thinking, Kenshin looked towards the standing waitress and said; “Can you please give us a few minutes of privacy?”

“Certainly.” The waitress excused herself and closed the door behind her back.

“Yuki, please stop that.”

“What? What happened?” she was very surprised at Kenshin’s unusual seriousness.

“I know what you are doing. You are looking for the cheapest dish right?”

“…” Yuki avoided his eyes and looked down, feeling embarrassed at being found out.

“sigh! Look at this.” Kenshin handed her the phone and waited for a few seconds.

“What is it?” curiously she received the phone and looked at the screen. Slowly her eyes widen at the thing in there.

“Is this for real?” she didn’t dare believe it, there were too many zeros in there.

“I am not laying, its the truth. So please stop this and order what you like. I can pay for anything.”

Of course, to quell her worries, Kenshin decided to send the proverbial nuke her way. His bank balance!
