-A Date gone wrong(1)-

Having the whole day for himself, he wondered what he should do and finally settled upon calling Yuki. She was moved here by her higher-ups to inspect the workings of various government matters in the entirety of Kanto. But for some reasons which were not so secret to Kenshin, she was staying in Mito. As it happens, Kenshin wanted to reignite his affair with her. She was his first love. He met her at a time when he was at his emotional down so it could be said that if it wasn’t for her mother’s intervention, he might still be in a relationship with her.

That day after seeing her in that backless party dress, he realized that he still harboured those feelings for her. From the talks they had that day, he also became clear that she was also not in any active relationship since she left him. This gave birth to hope in his heart, hope that she would forgive him for his blunder and they could be a couple once more. This time he also vowed in his heart that he wouldn’t make that kind of mistake again in his life.

Those days, after she left him, Kenshin realized that how much she meant for him. If it were not for his sister, he would have had an emotional breakdown in those days. As for Maria, they only met once, that too inside a dungeon, their first meeting couldn’t be said the best one as he was nearly forced to fight her, despite her being stronger than him. Although later they had reconciled their enmity after a life and death ordeal, they still remained as friends. That day what he felt for her was only lust, and he realized this after his INT and WIS rose to an astonishing degree.

Till now he only considers her as a friend that’s a little too much on violent side. Now that he thinks about it, he hadn’t heard anything from her after that day. She had also called him once, but due to his sister’s attitude, he couldn’t receive that call, and her phone comes off from that day.

Thinking about girls, he also recalled Vera who was ready to sacrifice her life so that he could escape with his life. That heroic woman with a sad past, Kenshin felt that there was something between them. Maybe it was because they both shared somewhat same past. He was quite downtrodden as he wasn’t able to see her one last time before they all departed, he was pretty regretful that he didn’t ask for her contact number that day. But Kenshin wasn’t sure if the feelings he had for her were love or not, unlike how he was with Yuki.

“Whatever, let's call Yuki and see what she was doing!”

Right now, inside a very busy office which just happens to be the main office of DCB, a beautiful lady wearing office dress was working with various matters regarding hunters and dungeons. Her long luscious hair was tied in a bun behind her back, while her pretty eyes were covered in a black rimmed glass. Her beautiful face right now adorned in a huge frown as she looked through various contents.

That day after leaving Kenshin in that park, she had thought of how she would take a little revenge on him by making him jealous of her. But her well-thought plan was ruined because of that unexpected incident in the north. The situation was grim there, and many hunters from all over Asia were called over for help. Later that day she came to know that Kenshin was also called over to there.

She, who had thought of making him jealous, instead felt worried for him herself. As a high cadre official, she was aware of the situation partaken in the north. She was aware of a series of dungeon breaks that happened in there leading to the formation of a barricade that somehow formed overnight.

The later reports made her even more worried. News of various hunter’s death, as well as their disappearance, was like a stab to her heart. Although she was concerned about all those Japanese men working in that joint mission, she was even more worried about Kenshin who was also there. In this situation, she couldn’t also make use of her authority to pull him out of that mission, for it would reflect negatively not only on her but also on him. Add to the fact that all types of electronics device stopped working there due to those jamming mist, one could only think how much she was worried about him in her heart. This worry had increased so much that she was behaving snappily to everyone, making them afraid to even approach her.

Right now she was dealing with some office related material, and looking very irritated at the incompetence of the workers working here. More than 70% of all workers who were working here had come in through a backdoor due to their relationship with some influential hunter. Due to this, some of these people didn’t have the qualification to even sit inside this office. When work was handed to these people, problems arise. This problem was ruining her day, to a perfectionist like her, it was like sitting on a pincushion.

Just when she was about to lose her cool and shout in frustration, her phone vibrated. Letting out a tired sigh, she grabbed it from her purse that she discarded to her side. Bringing out her phone, her face immediately brightened up at the caller. Then suddenly remembering her initial idea to punish, she forced herself to calm down. After clearing her throat with an ‘ahem’ she pretended to be not interested and answered the call.

“Hello!” with a voice that’s neither too happy or too cold, she answered.

[Hello! Yuki? I am Kenshin. What are you doing now?] Kenshin’s flustrated voice came from another side. Even after so many years, he still behaved like calling to his first love for the first time. Granted he didn’t manage to have that much close relation with her before that separation happened, but still, they were quite intimate before. While not kissed once, they had held each other's hands in public and even went as far as cuddling while sitting in a park once.

“I am in office right now. What's the matter?” although she was acting cold, the look relief that appeared out of nowhere couldn’t leave her face. She was very relieved that Kenshin was okay and even in the mood to talk to her in this bashed manner. She also took a deep breath to maintain her cold façade.

“Say, Yuki, can we meet? I want to meet you face to face, there are many things that I want to share with you. There is also a very important matter I want to discuss with you. Can you come? Time…you decide.” He had stumbled a few times to complete this sentence. It was so unlike the man who just annihilated a very dangerous monster this morning in just one shot.

“Hmm! I am busy. I might not come today.” came the cold reply of Yuki who was although very happy also had an apologetic face on. She was indeed very busy right now, the events that transpired in the north had increased her workload.

[Oh…I see. Okay fine. I thought we could go for a coffee and spend some time talking. I am very interested in your life so far. You seem to have achieved your goal, I want to know how you achieved. I also wanted to sincerely apologize for that day…since it couldn’t be done…]

“We will go. Meet me in the office of DCB in the 3rd street in half an hour.” Before he could finish what he was saying, Yuki’s reply came in like a raging storm. Her cold demeanour was long forgotten. She seemed to have underestimated her love and earning towards Kenshin. Her plans for revenge was failed even before it started, and this happened with just a single sentence from him.

After cutting off the call she threw the phone into her table, her face was red in embarrassment and anticipation. After a few seconds, he took a deep breath and stared at the ceiling in a daze.

“I completely miscalculated my worry and yearning for him. What a blunder! Damn that bastard! How did he become this courageous to even speak out his heart so clearly without feeling embarrassed?” she mumbled while clenching her teeth in frustration. Although she had planned for many things meticulously, she still underestimated her own love for Kenshin.

“Calling for a coffee? Why not tell it a date directly?” getting up from her seat, she abandoned all the papers in the table and called her secretary into the office. A few seconds later a pretty lady dressed in a typical office suite, a black blazer with a moderately sized office skirt. Her grab was completed with skin coloured leggings and high heels. Unlike Yuki, she wasn’t wearing a glass, her light brown hair was tucked away behind her ear, she looks exactly like an intellectual beauty.

“You called for me madam?” maintaining a polite manner she spoke.

“Yeah. Sera, I am going to attend a personal matter of myself. These papers, arrange them according to their dates in my table. As for those files in the right box, I had already reviewed them. The corrections were marked in the file themselves. Ask someone to return them to their respective cubicles. And tell those guys in other branches, I want all the relevant files before 8 AM tomorrow. That’s all.” After that, she grabbed her vanity and rushed out of office.

“It will be done” the secretary spoke politely, but Yuki was in no position to listen to her. She was hurrying to her apartment. She asked Kenshin to come to the office’s front in half an hour, so must return her home and change into something fitting for the occasion and return here.

She knew Kenshin didn’t have a car or a bike, so they were going in her car. It was precisely due to this, she asked him to come to her office. Although she said to reach in half an hour, she knew by public transport it would take no less than an hour to reach there.

On the other side, after cutting off the call, Kenshin looked much more excited than when he got those five hundred million gold coins. Throwing his phone to the bed, he dashed to his bathroom to take a nice bath. Yuki asked to meet her in half an hour, so he must hurry along.

That office was a little far from his home.
