-Vol 4: To The North Pole!-
-Preparations before Life and Death Struggle-
Before he left Natasha where he had met her for the first time, he inspected the wounds of the unconscious man. It was indeed what she had said, all those blood wasn’t his at all. As for the six hunters from Gilgamesh Guild, they had long since lost their consciousness. All he did was bought a few magically enhanced ropes from the store for 50G and bound them hard enough. Those rope were magically enchanted to not be torn down by someone below level 100. It cost him 10G per meter.
After that, he continued on his way towards the nearest location of the pentagram marked on the map. To say that he wasn’t afraid would be a lie, he was aware of how powerful the enemies were, with just a casual kick, they could end his life. Even with his current stats at most he could survive for a few seconds.
The brief moment of clarity he gained after being taken over by that mysterious force had taught him that. The moment that mystical force left his body, he died from poisoning. Not even bones left, let alone body. It was only due to his extra lives that he had survived or to be more precise, respawned. Although he had another in his possession, there were six other places left.
But, unlike the first time, he wasn’t restricted anymore. There was no one present to see when he used all his weird and powerful skills. Therefore he can confidently use them all to his heart’s content. He believed that with the powerhouses attracting the attention of those cloaked individuals, he could, with the help of his skills, complete his mission. But he also knew that life isn’t like a novel where the main character gets the plot armour, where he would be impervious to all bad things until the author deems it necessary. As such, essential precautions needed to be taken.

First and foremost, he must hide his identity. By any chance, if he gets exposed to the public or his enemies, it won’t be funny. That snake woman, Lyda, had already seen his face and few of his skills, like his fire abilities, his explosion skill. He couldn’t use them anymore. Excluding those skills, he got Destructive Energy Manipulation, Shapeshifting, Mirror Reflection, Summon Minions and many more. All of them weren’t seen by anyone else.
Besides he got upgraded Blood Armor set which had a hidden ability to morph into anything he wants. Currently, he had it in the shape of his pants and the full sleeve muscle shirt. With just thought it could morph into anything he wished. And that was what he did.
Closing his eyes, he began picturing an outfit while applying a little MP to his clothes. Suddenly, as if gaining life, the shirt and pant he was wearing started to twist, turn and stretch incessantly. His black pants turned white and resembled those camouflage pants worn by the military. His shirt also morphed and resembled a military coat that covered his hands too. As for his face and head, he changed the headpiece of the Blood Armour set, which he had morphed into the topmost button into a full-face military grade helmet. All in all, not a single skin of his body could be seen after he completed his getup. He looked like just another soldier.
Then he decided to look for the skills he will be using throughout this process, Burrow was at the top of his list. Next, he added Destructive Energy Manipulation and of course the three vibration related skills he had just copied. He had decided to limit himself with these skills, of course, he couldn’t use these skills as Kenshin Muto in front of others from today onwards.

But before anything, he decided to make a qualitative change into all the above skills, especially his Destructive Energy Manipulation and Shake. Currently, he had 52 SP, and he had decided to invest some into his Mirror Reflection Skill. It was the only ‘defensive-offensive packed in one’ passive skill he had.
First, he dumped 10 SP into Destructive Energy Manipulation skill, making it reach level 10.
[Ding* Skill Destructive Energy Manipulation has reached level 10]
[MATK: 1900 MDEF: 1900]
[10MP/sec]
No further notification means the skill hadn't reached its threshold to undergo an evolution. But he stopped there, after that he still had 42 SP left with him. He, then invested 2 points to Mirror Reflection, making it reach level 10.
[Ding* Skill Mirror Reflection has reached level 10.]
Reflects 50% of total damage received to the enemy.
An overpowered skill which he had forgotten for some time. This skill was indeed very powerful, it can make him almost invulnerable to all damages. It can at most be upgraded to level 50, making him block and reflect 250% of total damage value he received. That’s 2.5 times of the damage he receives. Although powerful, it still has its weakness. For example, it can only affect one party at a time, that too if the enemy’s level was at most 20 levels higher than his. Any more than that, and it would lose its effect slowly. As for opponents beyond level 100, it can block and reflect at most 10% of their attacks. But that was enough for the time being.
He was left with 30 points.
Now he came to his Ace in the hole, Opposites. This skill would be his deciding factor of the upcoming battle. Not only it was an op skill, but also it can make him, virtually invincible if used carefully. And he intended to make it even more op. He had a feeling that he was going to need it even more near future. He didn’t know where this feeling came from, but he wasn’t going to disregard it.
As such, he dumped 20 points straight into it.
[Ding* Skill Opposites has reached level 20]
Reverse the Effect of anything within 10 meters for 10 seconds MP: 10/use
As for the remaining 10 SP, he invested 10 into Shake, making it reach level 10. After reaching level 10, Shake also didn’t show any signs of evolution, that means its threshold hadn't reached yet.
[Ding* skill Shake reached level 10.]
With just a thought, you can create a vibrating force strong enough to mimic a Richter 5 earthquake. MP: 5/use
“Now I am ready!” nodding to himself, Kenshin did a little stretch exercise before running towards his location.
This time, he won’t care about anyone, he won’t have to hide from everyone. He will only concentrate on the mission and his safety. He will give his all so that in case he fails, he won’t have any regret.
He can’t let that fifth servant or whatever to destroy his home, the place where he and his sister lives. He will stop it from coming no matter what it takes, even if he has to become a demon today.

But the boy Aralt once knew is gone. In his place is a reckless, traumatized teen who can light the sky on fire. The more they get reacquainted, the less Aralt likes him—and the feeling is mutual. As revenge against a common enemy boils in his blood, Aralt struggles to do his oath-sworn duty and secure sanctuary for the heir-apparent to a mystical dynasty. But instead of safety, every step brings them closer to danger: sky pirates, cannibals, and a relentless soulless scourge unleashed by their enemy are all intent on killing Lian—or worse. Death, Aralt realizes, might be the greater mercy. ---------------------------------------------------------- What to Expect: Character-driven Plot Novel Pacing (which I accept isn't typical for serials) Elaborate Worldbuilding (you gotta pay attention) Soul-bonded Swords Sentient Wolves Longish Chapters What Not to Expect: Litrpg (sorry!) Harem (not sorry!) Magic System Short Chapters Dancing Bears (at least so far) Seriously, this is a second-world low fantasy/science-fantasy featuring a strong, but flawed male protagonist, a cheeky teenage boy that’s driving him crazy, a wee bit o’ Scots flavor, and a whole lot of culture clashing. I’m preparing to relaunch this story on Kindle once the second and third books are ready and I’d love some feedback as I move through those revisions. I'm serious about the feedback. All comments are welcome. I'll name a characters after you. And kill them, if you want. :) Oh, did I mention soulless assassins and cannibals? Yeah, Aralt’s day is not getting any better. cover image by brosedesignz
