-Vol 4: To The North Pole!-
-Improvements-
“You! What did you do?” Core stood with his mouth agape as he saw Kenshin entering the barrier as if it was his home. He couldn’t understand what Kenshin had done to make the barrier useless against him. just for the sake of checking he tried to enter, but the barrier stops his advance. He narrowed his eyes as he looked at Kenshin. His head was filled with incomprehensible thoughts.
“Nothing just used one of my skill to bypass the barrier. Forget that, now tell me what should I do?” Kenshin obviously didn’t tell him everything. He wasn’t a fool to trust Core with everything, even though they were bound by the contract.
From the beginning he knew Core had some other motive behind proposing the contract, although he wasn’t sure what it was, it doesn’t hurt to be cautious.
“You see that pentagram diagram? Just destroy it, it’s very easy.” Core advised while pointing towards the diagram. Actually, the real challenge was how to break through the barrier, but Kenshin for some reason bypassed it without any effort. So destroying a pentagram diagram would be easy for him.
With a swing from his sword, the pentagram diagram was split into half. At that time red coloured energy ejected from within the broken pentagram diagram and circled around Kenshin before fading into nothingness. The red barrier also flickered out of existence soon after.
[Ding* Destroyed one of 7 summoning Pentagrams. six more to go to complete Compulsory quest 3]
A notification box popped showing his compulsory mission completing status. But he ignored it for the time being.
With the disappearance of the barrier, Core came inside, carrying Vera with him. Then he moved towards the pentagram diagram to inspect it while sneakily glancing towards Kenshin every now and then.
Laying her prone form into the ground, Kenshin started checking her vitals. Seeing that everything was okay, he took a breath of relief. After that, he sat down near her and took a breather, reminiscing about what happened to him just now. Then he remembered gaining some interesting things from killing that snake, so he called the system menu and browsed through the notifications.
The thing that caught his sight first and foremost was the money he gained from killing that snake. It was nearly 1.8 million gold coins. 1.8 million! For a second he couldn’t believe the numbers. Although he knew to kill high-level monsters would gain him more benefits, but he never knew the benefits were this good.

That snake was beyond his capabilities by a huge margin. After all beyond level 50, the stat gain increases by not just four. And that number nearly quadruples after level 100. So it can be imagined just how out of league was that snake from Kenshin. But even so, Kenshin surpassed that level gap and slew the snake, how was that possible?
His success was attributed to two factors. First was his skill that transmutes the molecular structure of anything into opposing elements, which would later cause an explosion. By using this skill, Kenshin had transmuted the poison fog of the snake into matter and antimatter equally, which was later exploded when coming into contact with each other. The second was his lucky strike, he didn’t know that his reckless use of dome, had actually covered the snake’s head in its AoE.
So when he exploded the domain, the poison inside its body also exploded, blowing it into smithereens.

After confirming that his eyes weren’t playing tricks on him, he moved on to the next notification. It was his level up notification, he had levelled up 8 times, but he didn’t gain any AP or SP from it. Although he was confused, he moved on, believing that he would find the reason soon.
The next notification was about him gaining a title. He already had two titles, and they both are OP in their own way. He had high expectations for this new title.
[Surpasser]
+10% on all stats when facing an enemy stronger than the title holder by 1 level +20% on all stats when facing an enemy stronger than the title holder by 5 levels +50% on all stats when facing an enemy stronger than the title holder by 10 level s +100% on all stats when facing an enemy stronger than the title holder by 20 levels
[Title effect remains as long as the enemy was present in the map. After the enemy’s death or disappearance the effect will remain for five minutes.]
The system didn’t disappoint him in the slightest. In fact, this title bonus could be the strongest among all his titles.
Kenshin’s overall stats weren’t small. Although he was only level 50 now, his overall stats could be comparable to level 100 ordinary hunter. If he faced a level 100 monster or hunter, his stats would increase by 100%, it means they would double. If that happens, then he could easily slaughter them.

After taking a deep breath, he calmed his beating heart and moved on.
It was an Evolution Token. It's his first time seeing one. He didn’t even know its uses. Getting curious, he clicked on the notification box.
[Evolution Token]
Only someone who had surpassed a natural law with their own abilities can have the qualification to get this token. A one-time consumable item. By using it, the user can fundamentally evolve any one attribute of his to the next level. For example, MP can be evolved into EP or Ether points. 1 EP = 1000 MP
‘so that’s how it was! But what do the other things evolve into?’ Now he was confused again. The example had shown what MP was evolved into but what about his other stats, what they evolve into?
Again he left it to the back of his mind, intending to find more in future. Now’s not the time for that. The next notification was about receiving the snake’s skin and core. All monsters excluding the undead ones beyond level 30 would usually have a core. This core had many uses and would sell at a high sky high price in the black market as well as the legal market. A level 30 core would sell at least for 5,000 gold. Although 5,000 golds was an astronomical sum, I was actually nothing for a high levelled hunter. Their each dungeon raid will earn them at least 100,000 golds. That amount of sum wasn’t even half of their each raid’s earning. Hence they could be extravagant in their spendings.
It was scientifically proved that, after some medical processing, if the core had to be consumed by a hunter, it will fundamentally increase their power. Higher the core’s level was from the hunter’s level, better was the effect.
He stored it, intending to use it for his sister and her friends. Although this core was of a level 147 monster, the effect it would have on his sister and her friends should be many times better than him.
After confirming everything, he finally opened his stats. Last time he checked, his level was only 39. He was expecting some changes to it as there were many notifications about that.
As his detailed stats appeared, Kenshin couldn’t help but double take after seeing it. Forget about some changes, it had fundamentally increased on all aspects. Even his skills seem to have undergone some changes. Some skills were nowhere to be seen while new skills were added to the list.
“What happened here?” was all he could say after seeing it.

Scholar of the Fog
Leaving a trail of blood as he climbed up a hill, his limbs felt like lead. He was gasping too, his lungs burning with every step he took. And it would not be long till he dropped dead as he bled away. If not, the people chasing him would surely finished what they had came for. He swept his gaze, and across him was a spanning forest of old. With a glint in his eyes, and jaws clenched, he decided to gamble with all he had. He was dying, and by now, it did not matter where his grave was. He ran down the hill, and stopped where the plains and the forest met. His eyes swept about the trees, and he could feel an instinctual urge to drag himself away. He knew what this forest was, and here, he would find his salvation. Or his doom. The voices behind him grew closer, and among the noise was the faint clanging of steel. Gritting his teeth, he ousted all the will he had from the depths of his soul and stepped forth into the forest. Damned he be by the Gods if they wanted him dead. -new synopsis 10/6/2016 ---------- A new chapter would be released every friday. And the quality of writing should improve each time, hopefully.
