《The Strongest Skill: Getting rich while becoming stronger》29. The Unbeatable Zombie Guardian

-The Unbeatable Zombie Guardian-
Although Kenshin got a supporter, the situation didn’t change. Neither did the zombie Guardian become weaker. It only became less stressful for Kenshin.
Looking at a pumped-up Maria, Kenshin couldn't help but sweat a little. Though he wanted to look cool in front of her, he actually didn’t want to drag her with him. In fact, he would have preferred it, if she had gone out and called for help. The mission required him to kill the monster; it didn’t mention anything about how he should do it.
The process was left entirely to him. But he had no right to complain; Maria was here to help him. He was grateful to her for that. But he was also feeling guilty for dragging her into this.
‘I will not let anything happen to her’ Kenshin promised to himself. He must protect her to the best of his ability. He couldn’t face himself if anything happens to her. Thinking like this, he suddenly remembered about his unassigned APs and SPs.
He immediately summoned his UI and looked through the stats. There were 8 unassigned APs and 14 unassigned SPs. Living aside SPs for now, he concentrated on APs. For the current enemy; what he needed the most were AGI and magic. So, without any second thought, he dumped half of it into AGI and the remaining to INT.
Suddenly he felt weird as his world started to slow down. He began seeing everything in finer details as if the whole world was moving at a slow motion for him. He could even see the floating dust particles in the air. With added points in AGI; he had entered a new time dimension than before. As a result, his reaction time became faster by many folds.
Right now, he had become 4.4 times faster than normal people. His metabolism, speed, reaction time, blood flow, healing rate and even thought process…everything had become 4.4 times faster than a normal person. At the same time, he started to feel the rush of a very fine energy flowing unobstructed through his body. The epicenter of this energy seems to be in the heart. It was the effect of his increased INT.

With the widening of his magic channels, the magic energy started to flow even more smoothly in his body. INT not only increased his intelligence and magic capacity but also increased the body’s capability to handle the magic energy.
In a way, all his stats were interlinked. Not even one can be neglected or else a status imbalance would show up.
A few seconds later, he opened his eyes he tried to adjust to his surroundings. Looking at his stats after his attribute upgrade, he took a deep breath.
[ATK: 39(+60); DEF: 30(+60); AGI: 44(+4)(-5); PHY: 39(+10); INT: 35(+2); WIS: 13; WIL: 11; LUK: 14]
[Unassigned Attribute points: 0] [Unassigned Skill points: 14]
“Maria, I am keeping it busy with myself. Spam it with your magic skills! Lastly, keep your self alert to its sneak attack, it will surely target you the most” Kenshin said and took a step towards the Zombie Guardian.
“Okay” Maria nodded and started her chanting.
“Grrrr” as if aware of the danger that Maria possessed towards it, the Zombie Guardian dashed towards her. Its speed was so fast that even Kenshin couldn’t follow it’s movements with his added AGI.
But he wasn’t powerless. With his accelerated thinking process, he accurately calculated it’s trajectory path and moved. Like a lightning flash, he vanished from his spot and appeared in front of the speeding guardian. His sword was already pointing towards its head.
Ting!!
The guardian’s reaction time was faster; it raised its shield on the nick of the time and successfully blocked Kenshin’s thrust. As the sword blocked by the shield of the enemy, it produced a dull ringing sound.
A perfect block!
Kenshin frowned, realizing that this fight would be very dangerous and draggy.
The zombie guardian didn’t remain passive either. Its right hand moved as the eroded sword flashed towards Kenshin’s heart. The speed was so fast that he barely managed to see it. Despite being a zombie, it was even faster than Kenshin.

Kenshin aligned his sword parallel to his heart and blocked the zombie’s sword slash, but the force of the strike sent him flying.
‘-0’
‘-0’
Two damage points floated above both Kenshin and guardian respectively. It was zero. Using his ATK and DEF together, Kenshin more or less neutralized the guardian’s base ATKs. The real challenge would be its skills.
The guardian growled in dissatisfaction after seeing its attack blocked by a puny human. With its limited intelligence, it couldn’t comprehend what happened and screamed in anger. Suddenly its sword started to glow a faint red color, it pointed the sword tip towards Kenshin’s heart and pushed forward like a piston.
The red glow of the sword had alerted Kenshin, who was sure that it had used a skill. The sword was fast, too first for him to dodge completely. All Kenshin could do was lean a little to his right. The sword missed his heart but tore open a gash on his left biceps.
‘0’
‘-37.5’
‘-37.5’
[WARNING* You were affected with skill ‘Bloody Stab’]
[50% bleeding damage for 15 seconds]
[Ding* Skill ‘Passive Regeneration’ gained 375 EXP]
[Ding* Skill ‘Passive Regeneration’ gained 375 EXP]
…
Due to his enhanced defense against a specter, he didn’t receive any stab damage; but the skill was dealing a 37.5 amount of damage every second despite being reduced by 50% due to the title bonus. Thanks to that his Passive Regeneration was also gaining EXP every second.
[Ding* Passive Regeneration had gained a level]
[Passive Regeneration Lv 7(Passive/Always active)][7945 EXP to next level up]
[Heals 4 HP and 1 STA every 4 seconds]
Although Passive Regeneration had leveled up, it wasn’t enough. He was receiving 37.5 damage every second; within next 8 seconds, he would die if he didn’t do anything. In desperation, he cared naught if Maria could see him and immediately opened the store to buy a health potion. He had more than enough money for it.
He bought two medium level potions and drank one, keeping the other in his inventory. Since it was a medium level potion, even a sip was enough to restore 50 points of health.
Maria didn’t know the effects of the skill. She only thought that Kenshin was lightly wounded.
“Kenshin, get back!” she shouted.
Hearing her shout, Kenshin jumped back with all his might. Just a second later, a massive explosion occurred but the guardian had already jumped away from its previous position. Both Kenshin and Maria’s face changed when they saw this.
This monster was really out of their league. With a single shot, it nearly killed Kenshin while successfully avoiding Maria’s skill.
Coldness seeped into Kenshin and Maria’s hearts as they looked at the grim reaper like zombie guardian.

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14
