《The Strongest Skill: Getting rich while becoming stronger》18. Zombie Lord!

-Zombie Lord-
The Skeleton Knight set had increased his base stats by a huge amount. The increment of ATK and DEF was equivalent to fifteen level worth stats. He had also gained a substantial increase in PHY, at least three levels worth of stat points. Wearing this set gave him a unique type of confidence; as if none of these zombies could hurt him. And then the title he had equipped.
Overall, he was fully prepared to complete his third quest.
Kenshin took a step forward and instantly a group of zombies made their way towards him. Unlike before, this time he didn’t conceal his sound as well as presence. He was confident this time around.
When the nearest zombie entered his strike zone, his sword flashed like a snake. The sword ran unobstructed through four zombies before it ran out of zombies to slay.
[-100]
[-100]
[You gained 60 EXP]
[Base ATK increased by 4% for 10 minutes]
Instantly four red texts flowed above zombies announcing the amount of damage they had received. Following that was the exp gained by him and after that was the text that showed his base ATK’s increment status.
The last text box was the effect of the title he had equipped. Seeing that everything was working properly, he opened his quest window and accepted the third quest.
[Quest 3]
[Kill 1000 Zombies within five minutes]
[Reward: 1 life]
[Accept/Decline]
When he pressed accept, a timer started to run in the top left corner. Below it was the zombie count.
[4 minutes 58 seconds]
[0/1000]
Kenshin took a horse stance and zoomed towards the group of zombies nearing him. With his ATK at 95, added with 4% increase he received as the tittle bonus; his killing efficiency increased to a new height. More and more ‘-100’ texts started floating around as zombies dropped like flies. With each zombie that was killed his EXP increased by 15, his title bonus increased his base ATK by 1%.
Within ten seconds, he had already killed more than 50 zombies. Due to this godly equipment, his stamina consumption had also decreased by a huge margin. Combined with ‘Tireless Body’ and ‘Passive Regeneration’ he can continue this rhythm as long as he wants.

Although this was good, he didn’t have that much time. Since the zombies started to swarm him like flies, he decided to use a skill to speed up the process. His newly acquired Death Slash deals 70 magic damage to all the opponents within 50 meters radius. He decided to use it.
[Ding* you have used Death Slash]
[-20 MP]
A purple light enveloped his sword which started to vibrate a little. Kenshin swiped his sword horizontally, fully on instinct. The sword made a beautiful ring around Kenshin which then expanded until it reached 50 meters. Within this fifty meters, all the zombies surrounding him started to fall like flies as ‘-100’ texts filled his vision.
Opening his quest status, he discovered that more than 450 zombies killed by this single swipe. Including this, 570 zombies were already killed by him.
“Another 430 to go!!” encouraging himself, he moved to a different location. Execution of this skill had formed an empty patch of 50 meters around him, since, all the zombies killed within it. There was still 4 minutes left.
Due to this new equipment, his stamina consumption had decreased by a lot. As the sword is strong enough to kill a zombie in a single strike, the only real stamina usage was when he moves around or swings the sword.
“Oii fuckers!! Come to get some!!” Kenshin shouted from the top of his lungs. The best way to get the attention of a zombie was to make as much sound as possible. As they can’t see, their sense of hearing had strengthened to the extreme. If his skill, Replication, allowed him to replicate racial features, he would surely have copied this special ability.
“Kauaaa!!!”
Hearing his loud shout, a hoard of zombies moaned and groaned as they made their way towards him. Holding his sword in an ox-ward stance, he faced them with bravery. As the zombies entered his strike range, he started with a ‘The snake’ twirl.
With the death of 570 zombies, his ATK had already amplified by 570. That was 5.7 times of his total base ATK power. Together with the Skeleton Sword, his base ATK was 95; 5.7 times of it would be 637. With that much ATK, just a scratch was enough to kill a zombie.

Everything was going smoothly and just hundred zombies left to kill with ample time left to finish his third quest. Just then everything went down the drain. Among the remaining zombies, a large group started to gather at a single place, then started a cannibal festival among themselves.
Though he was a little weird out by their actions, Kenshin didn’t forget his priority and continued to slay the remaining ones. As the time ticked, so was Kenshin’s killing speed. Finally, just when only 37 seconds left, Kenshin ran out of the zombies to slay.
But he didn’t get the notification of completing his quest. He opened the quest menu to check the status.
[Quest 3]
[Kill 1000 Zombies within five minutes]
[Reward: 1 life]
[37 seconds]
[999/1000]
Only a single zombie remained to kill. Just then a notification, accompanied with a blue screen appeared on his field of view.
[Ding* Quest 5]
[Kill the Zombie Lord]
[Rewards]
2 level ups 1000 G A mysterious box
[Accept/Decline]
A familiar notification came around again.
Kenshin shifted his eyes towards the newly formed zombie lord. It was a 6 meter tall humanoid monster with rotting skin and melted eyes. Bones are jutting out of some parts of his body, giving off an eerie feeling. One of its legs was bent all the way to backward.
“Grrraaaaa!!!!” it howled towards the heavens as if complaining about its grievances.
[Zombie Lord Lv 15]
[HP: 1000/1000]
[MP 0] [ATK: 50] [DEF: 10]
[Skills]
Zombie Poison Breath[Deals 70 poison damage per second for 10 seconds][10% chance of turning into a zombie] Mad Rush[Deals 50 blunt damage by rushing into the target] Summon Minions[Summons a zombie with half of its stat to aid in a fight]
“I want it!” the moment Kenshin saw it’s third skill, he wanted to have it. He used his Replication sill on the zombie lord. Now his replication is at level 3, so there was a chance that he would get lucky.
[You have used Replication on Zombie Lord]
[Replication sucessful]
[Skill Replication gained 1000 EXP]
[Skill Replication levels Up]
[Replication becomes level 4. Now you can store up to 4 skills via replication]
[You can choose any one skill from below to replicate]
Zombie Poison Breath[Deals 70 poison damage per second for 10 seconds][10% chance of turning into a zombie][MP cost: 40] Mad Rush[Deals 50 blunt damage by rushing into the target][MP Cost: 34] Summon Minions[Summons a zombie with half of its stat to aid in a fight][MP Cost: 50]
Without missing a beat, he selected the third option. A white light flowed as his UI glowed like a bulb. Then he felt like something has invaded his psyche as new knowledge began downloading on his brain.
A new addition appeared on his skill window.
[8. Summon Minions Lv 0][1000 EXP to next level up]
But Kenshin didn’t have time for that. The timer had already warned him that only ten seconds remained to finish the third quest. Disregarding everything he speeds towards Zombie Lord, that was still complaining to the high heavens.
When it appeared on his strike zone, he held his sword tightly and jumped atop the Zombie Lord’s head. The force of his jump was so high that he reached all the way up to its eye level. He then aligned his sword horizontally above the zombie lord’s head.
“Hyaa!!” with a mighty shout, he descended downwards, still holding the sword horizontally above its head.
A golden vertical line formed as he descended downwards. That golden light parted zombie lord vertically from the middle. At the critical time, he used Flame Slash and instead of throwing it like a projectile, he used his ‘will’ to make it stay put on the sword itself.
[Ding* Critical strike Succeeded]
[Zombie Lord receives double the damage]
{95 base ATK(35 ATK + 60 equipment ATK) + 999% base ATK increment bonus(+950 ATK) + Flame Slash(+90 due to compression)}x2(Critical strike due to attacking the head) = 2270 ATK
Zombie Lord dies in a single move.

Shades of the Moon
I'm rewriting this story! I have taken down Arc 2 and Arc 3 already to avoid spoiling my new novel. The only reason I'm keeping the first 10 chapters is nostalgia; the writing is awkward and the story is not plotted out properly, but it's here if anyone wants to compare it to the new one. If you'd like to read a more professionally written version of this story, I highly suggest checking out my Synergy. Synopsis version too-many-to-count: “I see,” Kiona said. “But . . . you’re changing once again, aren’t you?” The entity considered her question, lifting a clawed hand towards the night sky. They observed the back of their hand idly, watching the glowing orange veins pulse alongside their pitch-black exoskeleton. The wind picked up right then, and Kiona shivered—just as much from the cold as from the savage grin on the creature's face. “That’s right,” the entity said, clenching their hand slowly into a fist. They let out a quiet laugh, staring defiantly at the Moon as it rose from behind the clouds. “We are shades, yet not exactly. Not like the others. Here, in this world, we've become something more. We are the Shades of the Moon.” There was a heartbeat of silence, during which Kiona joined the entity in their skygazing. The light-green Moon loomed over the city, shining like the entity's eyes. It promised otherworldly knowledge and terrible secrets. It promised progress. It promised change. In that moment, Kiona couldn't have imagined anything more beautiful. “Shades of the Moon, huh?” she said, smiling a bit. It had a nice ring to it.
