Rocky's P.O.V:-

Then my queen faced the trickster, the liar and illusionist our one and only Mr. Assassin and the fire girl with her long fine and spear shaped legs. Yes, her legs. If her movement speed was really outrageous, then her attacking speed was so great that I could only see some black line moving whenever she attacked them and her legs would just vanish from my sight.

She attacked at a really fast speed, her legs were almost blurring out of existence, though the assassin easily coped with the attack, jumping and moving at a speed even faster than my queens.

I don’t remember when but the assassin had again used his illusions and changed from being the swordsman to his original self.

Though the assassin was not having any kind of problem facing the attacks, but the fire mage was not so lucky and was getting beat down by the spear attacks.

But unlike a fighter type who would use his sword or weapon to parry the attacks, she used something that made my non-existent eyes shine in the dark room.

“What is that?!” I was almost yelling in Minie’s mind, after I saw the fire girl’s way of protecting herself.

“Huh, That! That is a barrier. Oh! She I quite skilled, huh.”

When her eyes focused on the fire mage using a barrier to protect her from the queens rampaging legs, they almost popped out of their sockets. Maybe, she was also feeling envious of someone, for the first time in her life.

“A barrier, what is a barrier? How can I get one?”

But how could my gree…ahem, I mean, my eagerness to learn new skills be lesser than hers.

“Get one. If you want to get a barrier, then the easy way is to kill her and if you are lucky enough its skill book might drop and you just might be able to use it too, if the restrictions are not too hard, that is.”

There was no way, I was going to kill her for a skill that might not even drop and endanger our already thin necks.

“No can do. What is the difficult method?”

If I was going to get it, then the way had to be safe enough to keep our lives intact and not put us into hell again.

“Practice, Just practice and increase your understanding of fire laws to such a degree that you became naturally able to use a fire barrier and not just a barrier, but a Domain.”

“IS it possible?”

“Sure, why not.”

I was going to continue our small talk about my big ambitions, when something happened that left both of us asphyxiated.

A slab of earth rose from the ground and stopped the queens attacking leg. The assassin used the moment to save the girl and travelled to the rest of his team.

When our queen tried to attack them all, the fire mage got scared and fired a huge amount of fireballs at her and the explosion destroyed my room. I mean, I couldn’t understand how some hesky pesky fireballs could create destruction at such a large scale.

The explosion never got to us, but on the other side, the knight used one of his shield skills to create a mana barrier and protect all of them inside it from the shock and heat wave generated by the explosion.

The explosion was much more intriguing and dangerous than it sounds. Though the different colors of light flying everywhere looked extremely pleasant to the eyes, but their effects was even more extravagant than an exploding nova.

But all of this was just an appetizer. The main course started when the queen came out of the pit created by the explosion, unharmed and started charging mana to fire one of her skills.

“Stop her! Stop her before she ends up killing everyone.”

The situation demanded me to react faster than I did, and to stop her from firing the skill at them, but my awkwardness and slow mindedness almost took their life.

I said almost because the knight and earth mage did something amazing that saved their lives. Actually, they weren’t just amazing, but they opened a new door to get strong for my useless self.

The skill that our queen was charging mana for is called ‘Obliteration Beam’. I didn’t know she had an attack like that, but she did and I was informed by the notification box just before she fired it.

Obliteration Beam: A beam of super compressed mana that when discharged creates a laser that although can only fire in a single direction, but can create destruction encompassing skill levels and breaking defenses.

And before I could shift my presence to the queen, she fired the skill and it was also one of those skills which couldn’t be stopped, once fired.

It was going to be a one-sided landslide if the attack had landed and a bringer of doom too, but we were actually saved by a skill from the knight that made me gasp.

Their Earth mage created a wall of earth in front of their group to somehow stop the beam, trying to make ends meet, but then the knight walked to the front and did something truly atrocious.

He slammed his shield into the wall and poured his mana into it. He was faced with the yelling and opposition of the earth mage for trying to damage the only thing between them and the upcoming attack, but after he started pouring his mana into the shield of his, the wall changed shape, size and composition and slowly transformed into a humongous Kite shield, which glowed with a bluish light and had a metallic luster.

My mouth gaped open because this skill was too exotic to be true. Minie’s was also gasping, but for some other reasons.

“How is this possible? How the heck can he use such a high tier fusion skill?”

And how was it possible that my greedy soul could hear the word skill and not react.

“Skill, what is a fusion skill? Why are you behaving like you saw a ghost?”

“Fusion skill… Ah! Fusion skills are at the apex of difficulty, they are the representation of talent, the myths of this world. How could I not be excited after watching someone using a fusion skill?”

“How, how do they work, Can I learn them?”

Yes, all of my expectations which were broken by the rapid fire skill, once again got green and I started flying high in the sky. I just hoped that I wouldn’t be shot down again.

“Learn them? Are you an id… Ahem, they can’t be learnt. There is no skill book that would teach you a fusion skill. They can only be used by those who have extreme control on their skills and have encompassed knowledge about nature and its forces. It is not something that anyone could learn just because they wanted to. It needs practice, perfection, control and ambitions to learn to use fusion skills.”

“But he is clearly using one right. SO how do ‘I’ learn to use them? At least tell me how they actually work!”

“I, Ahem, like its name says, Fusion skills are literally about the fusion of different skills. Now how many skills one fuses depend on the skill itself and the person’s talent. Not every skill is fusible; like earth and lighting skills can’t fuse they are the bane of each other. There are two types of these skills external and internal. External are those in when a caster fuses his skill with some other person’s skill or when multiple of casters try to cast one single high powered skill. Internal fusion skills are those in which a caster fuses one or more of his skills to create something different and more powerful or situation dependant.”

“So how powerful are these fusion skills? Can they create destruction on the world level?”

“Why? Do you want to destroy this world and its civilization? Even if you wanted to achieve something outrageous like that, it is not possible. But about how powerful a fusion skill can be; let me give you an example, what do you think would happen if someone fuses one two 'F' rank fusible skills.”

“I don’t know, maybe it would get more powerful.”

I couldn’t help but utter the words which were trying to give me a headache, but her attitude while answering clearly showed her disdain towards my nature and untimely pestering.

“Yes, the skills would fuse and turn into an E rank one.”

“What? Really?” And just as I heard her saying ‘turning powerful’ I stopped caring about all of the ideas that were forming in her head about me.

“Not only that, but its power increases as the number of skills fused increases, but also increases the danger of it going out of control.”

Who cares about the danger it involves when the door towards getting stronger opens right in front of you. Why would I not travel the distance when I know that these few steps taken would make my future great.

“So are there no Normal people who can use these fusion skills.”

“Who said that? I said it is very difficult to use the fusion skills, but never said that they have gone extinct or something. Where do you think skills like Geyser and Marsh came from? They are low level fusion skills that almost every expert with relative affinities could use. Though there is no skill book to learn a fusion skill, there are still hands written notes that help today’s mages to learn, create and use fusion skills.”

I really wanted to hear what she was talking about, but one shouldn’t let inspiration to leave them and should work on it just as it comes to them.

Just like that an inspiration came to my mind and I worked on it. These fusion skills were very cool and I also wanted to have one of such a skill. So in order to create, at least start my journey towards getting stronger, I decided to make do with what I had and thought of creating a fusion skill using the Archers Rapid fire and queens fireball skill.

I didn’t really believe that I would succeed in creating a skill of my own with this fusion trick, but the reality or maybe luck proved me wrong.

I thought about the formula and laws of rapid fire skill and thought of applying it to the fireball skill.

Firstly, I tried to make the fireballs turn into arrows and attack. It resulted in failure as I didn’t have enough control over my fire magic; neither did I have enough knowledge about the rapid fire skill.

Then I tried to make the arrows, like I create fireballs, but again, my experiments ended in failure.

Then after trying for two more times, when my heart was almost going to break, I used the only idea which I was left with.

I tried to do so that the fireballs that one could only fire once or twice in a minute would be rapidly fired without any break.

Just as I thought of creating the skill using both the ideas, the sound of god’s information boxes startled me.

Minie who looked at me from the side, when felt my soul shaking and she hurriedly asked me what happened, but instead of answering and decreasing her worries I reacted with a creepy laugh, because I had finally succeeded.

I still had not gotten over the wall of notifications which flooded my vision, when the best of them appeared in front of me.

I got so excited with the skill that I completely forgot about the beam of fire which was hovering over the adventurer’s necks like a scythe.

When I came out of my ‘Zone’ and focused on the battlefield I noticed that the attack had stopped and the knight was laying on the ground beaten and exhausted half to death.

I noticed one more thing, the assassin who was sitting behind them was nothing but an illusion and the real one was standing at the side. While another illusion of their captain was running towards the core crystal.

I snorted once and hurriedly fired my newly acquired skill the Rapid ball and the result was truly magnificent.

Tens of fireballs fell from the mouth of our Queen and travelled towards the assassin like a downpour. It created devastation on a scale that far surpassed normal fireball attack.

But to my bad luck, he dodged all of them with his speed, and when I watched such a scene, an imaginary drop of sweat ran down my forehead and the assassin ran towards his team members.

Maybe he was expecting our queen to rampage and get her sight of him and onto his party members, but what did he knew.

He escaped using his shadow movement skill, and entered quickly changed places with his illusionary self.

Just as he did that, I noticed the drawback from using this fusion skill. It drained too much mana from the queen and now she was running on fumes. As all of the queens mana was drained, so I had to stop her movements and wait for her to regenerate her mana.

“What are you doing? Why are you stopping? Now is the time to do it, kill him!”
