《I Will Be Recognized》70. Isn't This Too Easy?

“The first trial is simple. As long as your mana capacity surpasses a certain number you pass.” As he said that, a pedestal appeared in front of me and there was a scroll on top of it.
“Simple isn’t it? The passing requirement is 300, which should be on par with magicians of the Sage realm. Although there are items that can increase your overall mana capacity, this scroll in front of you is an absolute status scroll. It will show your complete stats, excluding stats from accessories. Just open it with both hands and it will do the work.”
“Okay.” I said.
I was also well aware that without my wings, my current mana capacity would only be at 260, so it all came down to the extra 100 mana capacity from my wings. I didn’t know if my wings were items but if they were, then I would have to brute force my way by leveling up Mana Body.
As I reached for the scroll, I could only pray that it counted my wings as a part of me so I could clear the trial faster.
[Ding!]
[Analyzing...]
The system made an alert as I started opening the scroll.
[True Dragon Eyes(Legendary) is reacting to an object]
[A sealed function has been unlocked]

True Dragon Eyes(Legendary)
Peer into the essence of the world.
Able to appraise Mythical rarity and below(can appraise anything system related) Appraise other people and objects. See directly through the soul.
~~~~~~~~~~
I didn’t understand, but I guess I will have to check it out later.
Once I opened the scroll, it created a golden gleam in front of me which then formed words.
~~~~~~~~~~
Life Force: 110
Strength: 86
Agility: 108
Willpower: 461
Spiritual Power: 1
Mana: 360
~~~~~~~~~~
‘Spiritual Power? What was that?’
I had long known about the Willpower stat from books since it had something to do with mana control. Despite it being a stat, I could not appraise it. I had expected Willpower to appear, but what about this Spiritual Power? Did it have something to do with religiousness? I wasn’t a religious person either, so it had nothing to do with religion.
On a side note, it seems the scroll was unable to distinguish my wings from an item or it couldn’t detect its presence.
“A Willpower of 461!? That Willpower at your tender age...” He gave a light cough and returned to his prideful speech. “It seems you have the talent for a Formation Master. Either way, you passed the first trial so let's go on to the next one.” He said.
Even though he most likely knew what Spiritual Power was, I didn’t want to learn about it from him as it would only boost his ego. The most I could do for now was speculate. I was sure that I would find out some time in the future.
I should just pretend that I knew everything so this guy wouldn’t start acting all high and mighty.
“The second trial will be how well you can handle fighting multiple opponents without magic.”
The surroundings morphed upon his mention of the second trial. After a while, the dungeon changed back to how it was before, except there were three giant rock statues surrounding me. To the side of a wall, I saw the number two plastered in some blue substance.
“Your opponents will be level 3 golems. You can use anything that does not involve spell casting to defeat or disarm them.”
“So I can use weapons?” I asked.
“Anything as long as you do not cast spells.” He said.
—Merlin’s PoV—
Weapons? Although I did not mind if he used tools, I do not believe it to be possible. This was an entirely separate dimension that I created and I have made it so items other than clothing could not have been brought here.
Even if he were to make weapons on the spot, there were no materials to build anything useful.
No matter what he wanted to pull off, I knew it would not work here.
As I thought that, he pulled a spear out of nowhere... ‘Were my old eyes playing tricks on me again?’
‘No, that wasn’t it.’ I thought as I watched him get into a fighting stance.
Was it a soul contracted weapon? I don’t recall sensing any soul contracts on him. So just how did he pull a spear out from thin air? Could it have been a newly developed spacial spell that I was unaware of? Did I not mention that spells were prohibited?
No. It wasn’t possible for him to interfere with my dimension unless his comprehension of space was better than mine, which I doubt. I could also see that the mana circulation in his body was normal, meaning he did not cast a spell of any sort. So how did he do it? What loophole did he discover?
As the one and only Merlin, I couldn’t bring myself to ask him about it, so I just shut my mouth.
‘Maybe this kid could actually clear my dungeon without my teachings.’ After a couple seconds, I disposed of that thought. If he could clear my dungeon single handedly, didn’t that mean my dungeon was a joke?
But I was still curious. Few things could surprise a 9th Circle Wizard such as I.
I had intended this trial to be about disabling grand formations. On the back of each golem was a formation and as long as the participant could comprehend the formation, they would have been able to tamper with it, ultimately disabling the golem.
This kid, whatever his name was, believed he could defeat a golem with strength?
So what if he could create a spear out of thin air? Who in their right minds would go head on with a golem? Golems were literal fortresses that had a high physical defense but were susceptible to high level magic. This was also why I prohibited the usage of magic. It was nigh impossible to fight a level 3 golem unless your physique exceeded the True Iron Body realm.
Even though I was a wizard, that did not mean I lacked strength, quite the opposite in fact. I could tell that the kid’s physique was far from reaching the True Iron Body realm.
‘He will fail.’ He tried. But that was not enough. No matter your talent, they will all fall, prodigies or not. This was a hurdle that physical strength could not overcome.
Recalling his rude behavior from earlier, I decided that I should focus on disciplining him well as my successor.
—Daniel’s PoV—
This felt like cheating, but the man himself said it was fine. It didn’t look like he knew about the functions of this spear. If it were any other being that I faced, I would be screwed. But a golem? That was by far the easiest to defeat.
Golems were weak to elemental magic, and although I was restricted from using magic, the Molten Spear of Mutilation could emulate the effects of fire magic. I had tested it before and it could cause literal fires.
‘Sweep.’ It came as fast as the nonexistent wind.
A long grey arc formed from the tip of my spear as I finished the sweeping motion. As it moved towards the golems, I noticed the grey crescent starting to catch fire, like a fire blade of some sort.
Before the golems could even move, they were all cut in two as the rocks crumbled and burned to ashes.
‘Isn’t this too easy?’
My Life is Not a Manga, or maybe...
Xavier had a happy, humdrum life: normal friendships, a normal girlfriend, a somewhat oddball family. Until, that is, he literally stumbled through the fourth wall and discovered he was the protagonist of a manga. Now he's scrambling to maintain any semblance of control over his own life in the face of something he never imagined he would need to contend with: the power of the Genre. Hello, E.O. Tenkey here; thank you for your interest in "Not A Manga"! This was my first serial novel, and I hope you enjoy Xavier's predicament! Familiarity with manga not required (though it can't hurt)! I look forward to exploring the bounds of the Genre with you. (First volume is rated PG-13 for comic mayhem and light profanity—these are high school students, after all. Second volume is rated PG-13 to R for some violence and similar levels of profanity. Tags may or may not contain spoilers.)
YAOS 1 - Limitless Adventures - Yet Another OP Story Book 1
December 23rd 2018: Book 1 is now up at Smashwords and at Amazon. December 30th 2018: V1.1.2 of YAOS Book 1 is out, some content additions, fixed typos. Amazon's enhanced typesetting now displays tables properly. YAOS is shown through the eyes of some genius athlete getting OP inside a VR, ah wait, Full Immersion game, ?F.I.O?. Not a Hero, not a Nerd, just a driven individual paying for mistakes made, biding time until he can return to the Real World. He isn't defined like you'd normally do it, you can pick his looks and name all on your own, just like you do in video games. Believe it or not, keeping his looks undefined is harder than you think. His backstory isn't expounded in detail, but it drives his choices. Book 1 isn't about depressing sob stories but about fun and rushing forward, pursuing new horizons. Oh, and you'll end on a cliffhanger! Well, most serials do, so you will probably expect that without being told explicitly. But it isn't that bad, there's a lot of reveals and more to come once this book, that is the first in a planned three-part series, is finally ready for release on amazon et al. The published version will have: 1.) Godawful speaker tags, I hate them, they make you stop thinking and speed up editing so much. In hindsight they should have been in to begin with. But I stand by my goals proclaimed earlier. You guys should think while reading, that is the whole point of the exercise. Apply the knowledge and ideas, improve yourself, get creative! 2.) Pretty colored tables, the damned blue boxes, a lot of work, 69 in one book. Finally fixed amazon's centering issue. Can't say I liked the hours needed to debug that. 3.) The promised Mitara chapters. 4.) A cover! 5.) And lastly, updated polished versions of several chapters. MC shares more of his past, some terrible chapters (esp. 32) finally work. Some new scenes, minor rewrites in parts. Text flow and other issues. The current challenge is to maintain essential ambiguity while satisfying people wanting to know more without thinking three steps ahead. Balancing one with the other is tough. The smut which was in remains, but the story told is not to be superseded by it. A 15+ rating for the first book is also important, not to mention, YAOS wasn't meant to contain any smut to begin with. If the Author can turn to writing full time his output should increase, so please support YAOS #1 once it does finally release. ~Thank You~ No maps so far, that should be in, but is really hard to get done right. Again, tips are appreciated. Update September 2017: Stubbed chapters, sorry guys, currently don't have time to upload them elsewhere, polishing book 1 and 2, writing 3, takes precedence. Book 1 is in heavy editing, too much to keep synced and continuing editing. I'd need a site which offers JS-free rapid managing of chapters and comments. Coding one myself or setting a premade up is out of scope until I'm done with the books. RRL-old offered that, nuff said. This is only here because the author believes in fairies, nobody reads this, most likely. October to December 2017: Life threw some curveballs. February 2018: Book 2 draft 1 completed, at ~150K words. Book 2 is fairly epic in scope, requires 1 rewritten chapter, some editing. Tables and miscellanea are in, but needs at least a grammar pass. March 2018: Book 3 at 28k words, first arc, rest needs serious planning for spin-off and satisfying conclusion. July 2018: Yet another proofing/editing session of books 1-3, 101+ chapters, ~300k words. B3 at 48k, starts out great, but no ETA, no wordcount limit, in flux. But prioritizing my writing cannot be done, I hate the delays as much as you, but you will prefer the whole released in a timely fashion rather than wait. Knowing myself how excruciating waiting can be, at least you'll get significantly polished versions and an ETA on book 2 by release of book 1. December 23rd 2018: Book 1 is now up at Smashwords and in the process at Amazon et. al.. . To all who wait patiently, offered feedback, thanks again!
