“What are you doing here.” The shocked teenager asked her friend.

“I was waiting for them to bring you in. Now! Come on! We have to go.” Caroline said. Ass he grabbed her friend's hand and started pulling her to the exit.

“I’m not going to run from the police I’m innocent.” The teenager said pulling back against her friend's firm grip.

“If you don’t come now you’re going to die,” Caroline said her voice filled with menace.

“What—” Victoria said in shock as she shook her head in a negative. “I can’t go anywhere I’ve done nothing wrong.”

“I didn’t want to have to do this,” Caroline said then turned. Away from the dark-haired beauty. When she turned back Victoria sensed a ripple of magic and found herself looking into her own face. A face that was graced with Caroline’s blue eyes.

“Caroline?” She said as she stumbled when she took a step back. “You’re… what are you?” She said as her mind seemingly short-circuited. “You used—”

“Magic?” The not Victoria laid with a laugh. “Oh, I’ve been wanting to tell you for such a long time Victoria.” A sly grin came on its face a grin Victoria couldn’t ever remember using. The teenager's eyes grew wide with a sudden realization.

“Wait you’re her!” She cried in sudden comprehension.

“Oh, she gets it.”The creature laughed then rippled again the dark tones fading from the creature's hair.

“You’re the Mazikeen. But why.” Victoria gave Caroline a quizzical look. “Why now?” she asked.

Caroline stepped up and leaned in close. And started to whisper. Before she could however Victoria felt a lancing pain in her left side and collapsed. Her hand went down reflexively. Clutching at the blade that had been shoved into her side. She saw a flashing notification.

Caroline the Mazikeen attacks you;

Sneak attack 125 HP Damage.

You are stunned.

“Why—” she begged.

“That's for me to know and you to worry about.” The Mazakeen threw her head back and let out a deep laugh of triumph. Then reared forward and slashed at Victoria’s prone form. The blade caught her arm and tore the flesh as the girl fought to stay conscious. “You know Lucas was telling me about Peter’s Evil Overlord list. Surprisingly good advice.” The blond teenager said with a smirk. “I’ll tell you when you’re dead.” She struck out once more and Victoria suddenly found herself floating seemingly outside of her body.

She felt herself floating away and she saw Caroline standing above her prone form. The girl threw the knife down with a clater and roared with laughter. Once more Victoria saw the body ripple and grow taller, the form seeming to age, the form looked like a meter maid. “I’ve waited eleven years for that…” she said as she bound up hair that was a chestnut brown this time. And started to walk out of the garage. She turned. “I promised to tell you when you were dead. That was for my mom and dad.” So saying she turned around and walked toward the entrance of the building. As she did so Victoria felt something begin to pull her away. NO!, not like this. She raged. She reached out with all she had and tried to hold onto her body. She felt the tug become an incessant pull. I just have to hold on. She thought

She wasn’t aware of a burst of activity from the entrance to the precinct. Her entire being was trying to hold on to her body. “God help us. What happened.” An older officer said as he dropped down to the forms he saw on the parking deck as he rushed to Samuels who lay covered in blood.

“We need a medic” cried another voice back into the building.

“What did she do?” Another voice cried.

“What the hell is that.” Someone said as they caught sight of the goblin enforcer that lay stunned on the ground. The officer put cuffs around the monster. The watched in horror as the beast began to fade from sight as its energy was absorbed into the metal. “Did you just…”

The entire time the teen fought a constant drag against her essence she supposed. Erasmus hurry. She begged as she fought. She used her anger at her friend… enemy. To fight she knew that the hunters had to know. She needed to find out who her parents were that would inspire a nearly twenty-year vendetta.

“Quiet, “ Bellowed Erasmus Osgood as he strode through the doors of the precinct tot he scene that lay before him. His nose twitched at the coppery scent of blood. He rushed to Victoria and leaned down and offered a bottle that suddenly materialized in his hand. He poured a small measure into the teen's mouth, as he did so Victoria felt the pressure lessen then her spirit flowed back into her body. “The officers are they well?”

“Samuels is fine just unconscious. Lots of blood.” One officer said that he was trying to wake the downed man.

A woman spoke up next. “Michaels will live just a concussion. What about the perp.” She asked.

Osgood gave the officer a contemptuous look. “She has been cut to death but she will be feeling much better soon. “ Victoria’s brown eyes fluttered open. She reached weakly for the head of the guild. “Rest, I dare say no one shall contest your innocence.”

The teen fought for consciousness and breath. “Mah...Mah…” She said as she struggled. The older man clutched her hand encouragingly. “Mazakeen…” she finally said and then fell blissfully into the darkness of sleep.
