《The Sorceress of San Antonio》Chapter 37

Victoria felt humiliated as the police officers led her away from the entrance to the guildhall her hands bound before her in handcuffs. Another new experience she would have preferred to forgo. The entrance they took her through was the more public and official entrances to the guildhall. Osgood had kept her busy until the police had arrived and by that time it was far too late. “I’m innocent.” She pleaded to Osgood.
The old man sighed and shook his head. “We can’t take that chance. Not now.” His voice was flat and his face stony. “Officers.” He said with deference to the two uniformed patrolmen, as he closed the door. To the teenager, it almost felt like a part of her new life had closed. Victoria eyed the two policemen. One was young probably late twenties with short-cropped dark hair. His face was expressionless. The other was a tall black man with a shaved head. She had a hard time determining his age.
“Thought you could hide away with those guys.” The Young officer said. Victoria couldn’t hear any emotion in his voice.
“No, that's not it.” She said as she tried to jerk around to speak to the officer. “I was with my trainer. I was coming in for a debriefing.”
The older cop coughed. “Yeah, you were on a mission from God.” He scoffed at her in a basso rumble. She glared at the officer the only way a teenage girl can. “Give me another of those looks I might start to think you need an attitude adjustment.”
“I’m innocent. Your forensics will show you that.” She stated confidently.
“I don’t think there is any forensics.” The younger officer said as he reached out to grab her cuffs. “Get moving.” He sighed. “Look, kid, we all know you had a beef from Thursday.”
“That's right.” The other officer said. “But you still shouldn’t have done it.”
“What do you think I did?” She pleaded with them. “I don’t even know what happened.” She pled with the officers.
“You went to get the knife back that was evidence in a crime.” The younger officer said. “The way we got it figured that's your totem?” He said questioningly as he looked at his partner.

“Nah man, it’s her souvenir from her kills.”
“Wait what?” Victoria said looking at the older cop as she walked with them toward the car. “I didn’t even have that knife till two days ago when ….” And then she saw the trap. If she told them where she got the knife from she would have to tell them she had killed the gnome that attacked her. But the moment she told them it was a gnome they would think she was crazy. “Never mind that Star agent knows where I got it. And I didn’t come tot he station this morning to get it. Ask my Mentor, Sunny, Er Saundra.”
“We will if she exists.” The young officer replied victoria could see his shadow cast on the side of the car and the twirling motion he made with one hand next to his head.
“I’m not crazy” She cried.
“That's right.” The older man said as they drew up to the car. “Now get in.” He said needlessly as he opened the back door. The drive was uneventful as they sped to the precinct house. Throughout the entire ride, the teen had expected something to happen. This time however instead of taking her through the front with a press pool they took her to the rear where the officers parked their squad cars. The car came to rest near the rear door in a chainlink fenced enclosure.
She had learned in the ride that the Young officer was Michaels and had served on the force for a few years. Samuels was older and ready to retire in the next year. He was the first to step out and opened her door. He patiently waited for her to exit the car. Samuels was attentive and wary. “Samuels—” s Michaels started to speak as he came around the back end of the vehicle.
“We’ll get you booke—” Samuels started to say as he was cut of suddenly by a blade that appeared out of his chest and sprayed the girl with blood.
“What…” The young officer started to say then he too was knocked to the ground. Startled Victoria drew back from the form that had materialized in front of her. A tall goblin stood there a jagged blade that dripped blood clutched in his had.

“She promised you’d be outs hummie.” The tall form said. Victoria saw another shorter form hovering over the young officer, she was able to make out the forms of one or two other stealthed goblins.
“Why are you doing this to me.” She screamed.
“We’re getting paid.” The second goblin said with a snicker. “We gets power, lots of power whens yous and the other hummies die.” Victoria saw the monsters head rock forward as she heard a vicious slap to the back of its head.
“Don’t speak fool.” The first goblin said. Victoria focused on the goblin and used her perception.

“What do you want?” Victoria asked fearfully as she tried to back away from the Goblin thugs. She glanced at the second Goblin.

Graunt looked at the first one and snorted. “The scared little hummie wants to knows what we want.”
“I wants to crack her skull open and eats her brains theys always taste so good and salty.” The second one sneered.
“Why me.” She pleaded. “Why are you after me.”
“Don’t care. The boss says springs you and so we does. Now are yous gonna come wif us or not.”
Graunt looked at Probert and snorted. “Na a chance.”
Victoria let out a long drawn out sigh then seemed to hunch in on herself. The goblins stepped closer smiling to one another. She then spoke up as they drew near. “I choose not.” She said then she jerked her hands apart the muscles on her arms and back strained against the fabric. A metallic ping could be heard as the chain to the cuffs parted. The girl's hands drew back and in her right hand a phantasmal blade appeared even as a series of stars began to glow out of her left hand and shot toward Probert. The unexpected attack caught the two goblins flat-footed. Probert had just seconds to react. The missiles struck him in the head chest and arm. Victoria ignored the notifications even as she lashed out with her right hand. The weapon tore through the goblin. The blade she had patterned after something she had seen one of the other hunters wielding. The belt blade was swept forward with a wide belly to the blade. The added heft to it helped it cut a deep furrow through the first goblin enforcers' stomach.
“Gah.”He cried as he fell forward. Victoria kept striking the creature. The goblins blade licked out but only nicked the human girl. Between strikes, Victoria would cast at the second enforcer. She had a set to her jaw as she struck Graunt lay bleeding on the ground Victoria checked him before she left on the struggling form of Probert.

The second goblin she found crawling away. Leaning down she removed its head off its shoulders with a hard strike with her blade. The cut however was far from clean. Turning she surveyed the mess. Then she took out a stone and broke it as she had been instructed. Once she had sent the signal she rushed to officer Samuels. She found him down on the ground gasping for air as his lifeblood spilled out. “It's okay I’ve got you.” She said as her hands began to glow and she touched the mortally stricken man. She watched as the blood stopped flowing from his wound.
“How—” He gasped before his eyes rolled up in his head.
“Oh no.” Victoria cried as she lay her fingers against his pulse point. There she found his pulse was strong. She believed she had just scared him into unconsciousness.
“Victoria! What did you do?” Turning to the voice Victoria saw Caroline.
“Wow, Hi.” She looked at the ground the stunned goblin and the downed police officers.” Uh believe it or not this has been the easy part of my day.” She smiled impishly at her friend.
“Shit, the police are out to get you.” Caroline cried. “Come with me quickly.” The blue-eyed girl cried as she reached out for Victoria's hand and with greater strength than Victoria remembered her friend having Dragged her away from the bloody scene.

rabbits sin of silence (Seven Deadly Sins X reader)
There were eight deadly sins but, seven sounds better. It's more catchy. It lets people be bystanders, it lets them watch without interference.Because the eighth sin was the sin of silence.and no one likes to see the faults in themselves.------------- discontinued -none of the characters of plot lines from the seven deadly sins belong to me.
