《Overlord Spirit Martial Emperor》Shaming A Divine Beast!

The surrounding cultivators were confused at the words of the Scarlet Phoenix. His wife? Someone killed her? What was going on? Feng Yun was similarly confused and did not know exactly why the Scarlet Phoenix was talking about this. He still got a bad feeling from being around this bird however.
"Scarlet Phoenix, what do you mean by 'killed your wife'? Could it be that a tragedy had befallen your family?" The Great Devil Ape narrowed his eyes. The Scarlet Phoenix seethed with rage and said,
"Not too long ago, about a few days back, a cultivator or beast entered the forest I had designated for my wife. Apparently, they did not know whose protection it was under and attacked my wife for her blood!" The Great Devil Ape was shocked and pleased at the same time. It hated these divine beasts who got to live loftily in the Immortal Fiendlands. Feng Yun had a bad feeling about the situation. He recalled that he had gone to the forest and killed a Green Fanged Eagle but he had hidden it well and there was a low probability that the husband could have found it.
"My wife was completely slaughtered and buried in the ground. I came only moments later but was too late. I have been tracking down the killer and pursued him to this mountain range. She was a Green Fanged Eagle!" That did it. Shock entered Feng Yun's brain and he found it extremely hard to suppress the incredulous expression that was about to come onto his face. Xia Qing glanced at Feng Yun and quickly turned away. Feng Yun kept a straight face but inside, his heart was pounding. He hadn't expected the Scarlet Phoenix to be able to find the corpse that easily. He calmed himself down. It wouldn't be easy for the Scarlet Phoenix to be able to identify the killer. Feng Yun had a sufficient alibi and his cultivation was low. It wasn't very likely that the bird would be able to find him out.
"Whoever killed her, I suggest you show yourself right now. If you don't I will find you either way." The whole crowd was silent as everyone looked at each other. The Scarlet Phoenix narrowed its eyes at this and killing intent rose from its body. It seemed to oppress the entire army.
"If you won't expose yourself to me, then I will start killing everyone in the army. One by one until they are all slaughtered! One every minute! I assure you, I am not in a good mood but I certainly have enough time to slowly torture your comrades. The time starts now!" With that, the man looked at the vast army with a glance that sent shivers of fear down their spines. They all felt a hidden pressure that seemed to dominate them like an oppressive mountain. All of them instantly realized that if they did not comply, then the things the man spoke of would inevitably happen. They all looked about frantically around the army. It seems the saying was true.
"It's hard to tell who has your back, from who has it long enough just to stab you in it." Feng Yun thought to himself. People who were originally noble and loyal would cower and resort to betrayal in order to survive. Feng Yun sighed. It seems there was no such thing as absolute loyalty in this world. Xia Qing threw a glance at him. She didn't want to admit it but she didn't like the fact that innocent people would die because of their actions. At the same time, she knew that if Feng Yun stood up, then he would inevitably die. She absolutely did not want for that to happen. Feng Yun was her eternal benefactor and best friend. How could she just let him die? Feng Yun saw all of this on her face as conflicting expressions went back and forth on them. Her originally youthful and beautiful complexion now turned a bit pale from fright. He shook his head slightly. Feng Yun suddenly coughed out a mouthful of blood.

"Ha, it seems that karma really does exist. God damn it. I see, the heavens truly are pretty big sons of bitches. Or daughters...whatever. Well, I reap what I sow. I should take responsibility for my actions." Feng Yun began to laugh maniacally. The man in red robes turned his head towards the handsome young boy who had laughed. His eyes narrowed as he studied Feng Yun. He hadn't paid attention to him before due to his fury, but he now surveyed the boy's body. Suddenly, he withdrew his divine sense that was looking into his dantian in shock.
"Xiantian Fourth Layer! Impossible! This child is not even a teenager yet! With his talent, he might have a powerful sect backing him up. With a sect backing him up, he will surely have a various assortment of treasures to combat my wife. Yes, that means...this boy is a suspect!" The Scarlet Phoenix thought about this and his gaze grew sharper and sharper with every look. Feng Yun saw this naturally but did not care. He was already about to die anyway, whether it be by the Great Devil Ape or the Scarlet Phoenix. He put on a sneer as he stood up with difficulty. The Scarlet Phoenix was shocked, this brat dared to mock him? The Scarlet Phoenix moved to interrogate him but Feng Yun raised his hand up in defiance. He still held a great smile.
"No need for you to interrogate me. I'm sure you already know the answer. Yes, I am the one who killed your wife!" He yelled defiantly and without fear. The man's face turned grim and fury seeped into his expression. Instead of yelling in anger however, the man began to cackle with insane laughter.
"AHAHAHAHAHAHA! Yes, I have found you! I thought it would be harder than this but it appears as if I was wrong! Use hostages and it always works." The Scarlet Phoenix looked at him evilly as if it was imagining killing Feng Yun at the moment.
"Hmph, what a shameless bastard! Your wife died with honor. She asked me to leave your eggs alive and I did so out of respect. Now you come here and hold a whole army hostage to lure me out. What shameless means. Despicable, dishonorable! Would your wife be satisfied with these means?" Feng Yun unleashed an onslaught of curses at the man to which the man's face only darkened. It was as if a storm had replaced the man's originally handsome face. His facial expression was full of ugliness and fury.
"Shut up! You will die anyway! It does not matter how I kill you as long as I eventually do it. Anyways, you must have used heavenly treasures to kill her. How can you call me despicable when you yourself use such means."
"Despicable? ME? I don't think you understand half the crap you're saying, you burnt ass piece of shit turkey! I used my own strength and abilities to beat her. The heavens did not decree that she was to live and thus it was so! You think you can argue with such a decision with your shit strength?" Feng Yun's curses came as a great onslaught to the stunned Scarlet Phoenix. The audience was shocked beyond belief. The boy had actually dared to call the famed Scarlet Phoenix...a burnt ass piece of turkey! This was something never before heard of! Most of them felt admiration for Feng Yun and silently agreed with his claims. Dong Fuzhen and the rest, who had just emerged from the cave, wore worried expressions in contrast. They knew that with Feng Yun's continuous insults, he had no chance whatsoever of being spared by the Scarlet Phoenix. The man was red faced, almost the color of his robes. He had never experienced such indignation and insult before. All his life he had been treated as a beast of high value and esteem. Even the Omni Beast King would spare a glance at the Scarlet Phoenix. But here there was a Xiantian realm twelve year old boy calling him a simple turkey! Utterly outrageous!

"You little son of a bitch! This elder is going to make it such that your mouth cannot spew any more crap first, then I will slowly torture you until you are begging for death!"
"Haaa? Damn, your age truly has surpassed your looks by at least a couple thousand years. Old man you really have gone senile! Your idiocy has far surpassed the boundaries of that which can exist on this world. It is as if a chicken just decided to gawk at the heavens forever wishing it could fly!" Gasps could be heard among the crowd. Audacious! Brave and completely utterly audacious! Never before had there been a person of such audacity! Admiration was present in the hearts of all the people among the crowd. They had all decided that even if Feng Yun dies, they would forever remember him in their hearts. Xia Qing had forgotten her sad behavior earlier and was snickering. Dong Fuzhen even put up a wry smile. The Great Devil Ape had stared blankly when it heard what Feng Yun had said. Then, it began to laugh uncontrollably. It had shrunk to a smaller size and dropped to the floor clutching its stomach with laughter. It hated divine beasts for some reason and seeing one humiliated before his eyes with such insult brought tears of joy raining from his eyes.
"This kid...this kid....hehe...is really amazing. What an admirable fellow!" The monkey managed to get out without laughing.
What was especially funny was that Feng Yun had put the image of a chicken, the lowest of birds with the tyrannical greatness of the Scarlet Phoenix. The cultivators were all imagining a chicken version of the man just staring at the skies in awe. They could not hold themselves back and bellowed with laughter.
The Scarlet Phoenix was no longer any more shocked than he already was. He had never expected this boy to humiliate him so much. And it was right before his death too! Redness flashing through his eyes he shouted in a commanding tone accompanied with a terrifying aura.
"SILENCE!!!"
The audience quieted down a bit but still held smiles. Their backs were slightly hunched under the looming pressure and seemed very stiff. Satisfied by the silence, the Scarlet Phoenix spoke once more.
"Hmph, at least you have a mouth to substitute for your incompetent strength. It won't matter what you say. You will still die! Pay for killing my wife!" The Scarlet Phoenix yelled and charged towards Feng Yun. Feng Yun smiled wryly and prepared him for his inevitable fate.
"Sorry, I'm afraid that killing him isn't an option Scarlet Phoenix. This kid...has won my respect and thus, I shall keep him alive!" The Great Devil Ape once more transformed into its large awe inspiring figure and jumped towards the red robed man. In its hand appeared a black spear that caused waves of unrest to appear among the crowd. They all subconsciously retreated from the area and to a much safer area where they could view the battle. Feng Yun jumped back with all his strength. He did not expect this development to occur. He had thought that he would die in this moment but instead, the opposite had happened and he was saved by the beast he had least thought would help him.
The monkey brought its spear out and jumped in front of the Scarlet Phoenix. The spear and the man clashed in which the result was a large explosion. Two figures jumped back from their respective positions. The Scarlet Phoenix had an angry look on its face.
"Great Devil Ape! Why have you decided to hinder me? I believe you were initially trying to kill that kid before! Don't tell me that you wish to make enemies with me of all people."
"Your arrogance soars to the skies Scarlet Phoenix! I have hated divine beasts all of my life. Do you think that I will not hesitate to attack you? If it means making your calm and handsome face turn ugly, then protecting a human truly is worth it!" The Great Devil Ape was resolute as he said this and had no hesitation.

Dungeon Core Chat Room.
This is a slower-paced "experiment and dungeon building" web novel that tries to use the idea of peer-to-peer communication with Dungeon Cores instead of Dungeon to slave monster communication to break up the detailed dungeon building. Rank 1 description: (minimum met for system initialization...detailed description as follows) Each race was given a system by the gods to make up for their shortcomings and balance their place in this world. Humans: Abysmally bad at understanding and using magic unable to use more than the lowest of magic were given the "Skill System" magic in the form of premade skills with use, study, and mastery tied to experience. Elves: Intuitively understand magic and have long lives leading to vast knowledge and skill in their chosen fields. However, as a species, they have nearly zero sex drive and less than low fertility, so they were gifted the "World Tree System" with experience gained through the care of natural areas – gifting the chance of children to increase their numbers without dirty copulation. All “natural” or “wild” monsters are given an "Evolution system" designed around killing and consuming as many creatures as possible, slowly increasing strength and, at thresholds, allowing mutations to alter them multiple times. Dungeon cores are different. Unlike humans, they can see, manipulate and live off mana. Unlike Elves, they naturally crystallize after extended periods of time in high mana level areas. However, they cannot easily move or communicate and typically go insane without companionship. As a species other than the odd eccentric they are unimaginative. Brute forcing solutions without the drive to truly innovate. Thus they have been gifted with the "Dungeon Connection System" a magical version of the internet accessible by their peers that allows them to barter and sell: bait, traps, monsters, and knowledge, as well as entertain each other with “adventure streams” using exciting recorded battles and humorous reels of arrogant chumps biting off more than they can chew to often fatal effects. This is the casual story of a dungeon unluckily spawned far from potential adventurers forced to innovate beyond its peers to find its place in this world. Rank 2 Description: Justification. I've been on a dungeon core kick for months and while I love the genre – it's sparse with entries. Often the forced conflict gets repetitive and frantic solving of threats "power levels" the protagonist to god levels to progress the plot – taking away the nice steady progression fantasy I'm looking for. (Progression in this story is linked to how strong of monsters/traps/whatever he can create not his "level"...this is demonstrated by some of his newer monsters beating his older monsters not with discrete "this monster has 10 attack this one has 40") Additionally, the focus on 3rd parties with their drama takes away from the reason I’m reading dungeon core novels in the first place – I'm looking for magical crafting, experimentation and kingdom building – not defence from higher and higher levelled enemies looking to steal/destroy/control the MC. This novel is kind of just me writing the story I wish I could read. I like thinking about the experimentation that can be done in fantasy settings using 'mana' as an excuse to make up rules and try to keep them internally consistent. IE once I define how a rule works, I'm going to commit to keeping it – no breaking hard truths I've given when it's convenient, even if it backs me into a corner. Hopefully, that should make the story interesting to read even if it's SOL and less action-oriented. There will be problems to solve and a clear progression in strength (of created monsters and knowledge) however due to not wanting to force conflict for the sake of conflict the general theme will be closer to slice of life with few action sequences and no overarching goal so please keep that in mind when picking this up as the genre is not for everyone. Finally, I have a clear goal of what I want from this story (not an endless romp but a series of arcs and then a conclusion that's a couple of dozen medium-sized chapters long) I want to commit to finishing it or at least bringing it to a point of rest. I hate all the engaging stories that stop with a “hiatus” indefinitely so in the event I lose motivation I'll work to end this even if the ending becomes rushed/unsatisfying just to give a sense of closure. I’m planning on including several polls in terms of direction and taking feedback heavily into account if I get enough readers (but may choose to ignore it if it deviates too far from the direction I want to take this as in feedback like: “The MC needs a cartoonishly evil arch-enemy that wants to enslave him and force the mc to pump out magic items” or “the MC needs to make a body and learn teleportation then live with humans” will get shot down without consideration.)
8 258You Are The Gods.
You read the title right, YOU are a God within this story. In fact, every single reader of the story is a God. Many stories like to take the path that there are Gods that watch over the characters of the story, helping them or hurting them as the characters progress. What if, the readers of this story are the Gods that are watching the Main Characters? What if the readers could accrue points by reading that they could spend to help the main character, hurt the main character, or to even create new characters, dungeons, and scenarios? That is what I aim to create! I am trying to get the community involved in creating a reality that the readers themselves can directly influence! If you have any interest in this at all, I implore you to read the intro chapter called 'The Tutorial' and join everyone else on many interesting stories on Planet Earth and what it is to become! Volume 1 is where you can find how the system works, and the various things within the system! Volume 2 is the actual story and invasions itself. Volume 3 is where you can find previous polls and the such. Volume 3 is so we can all look back at the decisions made. Quick note. I am not the best writer, and will try my best to create the best quality story. There might be some grammar errors, or I might write in a simpler way compared to other authors because I do not have much time, nor can I write ahead either! If you wish to give me advice on the system as the story goes on, then I will gladly accept it. Lastly, just have fun with the story as I try to do something completely new!
