《The Aether Universe》Chapter 43

As the small monster approached him the monsters to the side growled in approval, clearly confident that this one could kill Tai.
Although the monsters at the side were confident that their kin would win, the monster in front of Tai wasn't.
It looked at Tai carefully, looking at his every moves and waiting for the perfect time to strike. Not once did Tai think that the monster was underestimating him.
As Tai looked at the monster in front of him, it disappeared and he detected it behind him, its long, sharp claws inches away from slashing him.
"Shit."
Tai enhanced himself with his ki and tried to dodge the attack but as he moved, he felt that his movements were slow, and sluggish and that his body was heavy. It felt like there was a mysterious weight on top of him.
This mysterious weight on top of him was dangerous. It decreased his speed and somehow made his movements sluggish and even made him for a moment have the thought of just not doing anything.
It was too late to dodge so he could just accept the attack, or he could bring out his shadow armor, but he couldn't rely on that too much.
What if his opponent had a skill to nullify darkness. In which case, he would be dead if all he relied on the armor.
Taking the attack, the monster left a deep slash into his flesh and blood started leaking out from the wound as the monster disappeared and appeared in front of Tai, ready to attack him again.
"No rest, huh?"
Multitasking, he applied ki healing on the wound on his back, healing it instantly along with his healing factor. As the wound healed, he used his naginata to block the monster's attack, but there was still that mysterious force that was pushing down on him.

As soon as he blocked the monster's attack, it disappeared again appearing at his side and once again attacking him.
"Stop disappearing are you a magician or something?"
Tai was annoyed and this mysterious force that slowed him down annoyed him even more.
As Tai blocked the attack, making the monster disappear again, he figured out what the monster's plan was.
It was planning to make this a battle of endurance attacking Tai as much as possible waiting for the chance that he would slip up, but he wasn't having none of that.
With the mysterious force affecting his movements, he had a thought in his mind. What if he just had something else chase his opponent?
Holding his naginata, he made its main body into a liquid state, but its blade sharp and solid. The naginata with its new state chased the monster, blocking it's attacks and countering as cuts started to appear on the monster's skin.
"This is more like it."
The naginata chased the monster unaffected by the mysterious force but after a few attacks even the naginata slowed down and the mysterious force that was affecting Tai was now even stronger.
"Hehe... weird monkey no chance... Rhykker is sloth..."
Tai didn't hear what the monster's were talking about but it was clearly about him or the fight.
"That's it! I know one thing you can't slow down!" Using his ki, he encompassed the area around him and set it on fire, burning the things around him instantly.
Being his fire, he was completely immune, but the monsters on the other hand...
They moved back, and the monster that he was fighting had to think twice in attacking again, but ultimately stayed far away.
"Can't attack me so you stay back? There's no use waiting it out. This fire will continue to burn until I run out of ki and I have tons more to burn."

At least that was what Tai thought. For once, he saw the monster use the mysterious force.
The monster looked at the fire and its eyes turned a dark green.
The menacing fire that was burning slowly dwindled under the energy and his own ki even ignored his control as he felt its emotion.
"Sleepy..."
"What the fuck? Isn't this too overpowered?"
Seeing as his tools were failing him, he decided to discard his katana and just fight with his bare hands.
Even though the monster had an advantage right now, Tai wasn't worried. He still had his darkness if it ever came to it and that was for HIM to control.
He charged at the monster and they clashed trading hits back and forth.
The monster was definitely fast hitting him even more than he could hit it, but it had invested most of its points in dexterity making its punches and slashes weak.
Martial Arts has leveled up
+1 status point
Over time, the monster was slowly getting fatigued and more and more wounds appeared on the monster's body, but Tai's body was uninjured, his healing factor dealing with any wounds.
"Is that it?"
Tai laughed as his fist connected to the monster's face sending it flying back. "Speed is useless without strength."
It wasn't exactly a wrong statement but it wasn't a right one either. Theoretically if one was fast enough they could generate enough energy to destroy a city meaning a pure dexterity status wasn't all bad but the weakness comes in if you are slowed down or your speed is weakened.
The monster tried to get up but it stumbled, the force of the punch concussing it.
"Your brain rattled?"
With a quick punch to the head, he broke its skull, killing the monster as a weird energy came out of the monster and entered his body.
One of the sins had taken a liking to you.
Reach level 300 to take the sin's trial
"Sin?"

Editor's Note: Someone disable his permission to edit the draft on UnityDocs, please! Hello, I'm McKing and I aim to write an original story with elements I've never seen put together before. Feel free to point out any mistakes you see — I'm not a native speaker, so I'm sure a few will pass me by. Sci-fi; Humor; (Brazilian) Urban Fantasy; faint shades of LitRPG. **Be warned it has a bit of an (absurd) slice-of-life beginning though the story is being subtly (I hope) worked on and eventually shifts gears (a bit). I planned to say that from the beginning, but I forgot to add it.** I hope that you enjoy it and that I can grow as a writer with your contributions. No Fixed Update Schedule. My inspiration comes in bursts and so will the Chapters. Sorry if that displeases you (I love regular updates too), but I'm afraid that's the best I can do for now. Keep in mind that it is a work in progress and things can eventually change a bit - I'll try to always note the changes. Sorry for the bad cover, it was the best my sorry skills could do! I hope you enjoy it,Mcking
