《The Aether Universe》Chapter 33

Waking up the next morning, Tai went to the restaurant to ask if Anna had been there, but as it turned out, he didn't have to ask, as Anna was just sitting down, her head on the table and looking hungover, which was probably a side-effect of the dart that the man had used on her.
Pulling the chair out across from her, he sat down and tapped her head, making her look up, and rub her eyes.
"Oh, hey, Tai. What's up?"
"Nothing much, just here to check on you. Do you remember anything from last night?"
"Kinda? I remember you walking me home, but then it kind of got fuzzy and I don't really remember what happened after that."
Tai nodded. "Ok, well just know that you shouldn't trust every UEE soldier, ok?"
"Wait, why?"
Tai considered whether he should tell his sister what happened last night but ultimately decided that she would be better off knowing instead of keeping her in the dark.
"Last night, a UEE soldier attacked you because they were after me, but don't worry. If they know what's good for them, they won't do anything else."
Hearing Tai, Anna started remembering parts of last night, especially the dart that had struck her on the neck.
"Don't worry about that stuff though. Let me eat breakfast, and then we can get you Ranked up to A, how about it?"
Anna smiled and nodded. "Yeah, let's."
Tai called the waiter covering, ordering a bunch of food like usual, which made some customers stare at him, but he just ignored them.
After finishing his food, Tai and his sister went to the Adventurer's Guild. Upon entering the guild building, Tai noticed that there were a lot more people staring at him, and they were also talking about him too, whispering with their friends.

There was even an alien with weird tentacles talking to his other alien buddy, and since the system translated languages for him, he could understand what they were saying.
The reason why everyone was talking about him was that during the fight with Berthold, Tai had taken 1st place on the leaderboard, and to add to that, Berthold had mysteriously disappeared from the leaderboard too, adding to a lot of rumors.
Walking over to the counter where a woman was sitting, Tai asked her a question, "Hey, why's everyone so interested in me all of a sudden?"
The woman didn't answer and just pointed behind him to the leaderboard.
Turning around, Tai looked at the leaderboard.
Guild Leaderboard - Sorted by level 1. Tai Zenith - Lvl. 196 - Rank B 2. Jori - Lvl. 193 - Rank A 3. Avra - Lvl. 158 - Rank B
Tai was a bit surprised when he saw that he was now 1st place on the leaderboard, but he didn't mind. If anything, it made him feel safer as that meant that he was one of, if not the strongest in the city. No doubt though, that the UEE was definitely watching him.
"Hey! Look, Tai, you're 1st," Anna told him, cheering for his brother.
"Guess, I am." Tai was used to being at the top. He wasn't arrogant or anything, he was just used to it. When he was still doing track-and-field, he was the fastest in the school, and in the top 10 of the country. His friend Jake came in a close second which meant that he was also top athlete material.
Tai had tried to get Jake to join the team, but no matter what he did, Jake just wouldn't join and just say things like 'I'd rather explore the world and enjoy my time' which thinking back on it, made sense since he had limited time on Earth. He chuckled at the thought that his childhood friend was an alien that came from another universe.

Calling Anna over to the mission board, Tai told her to pick a mission, as this would be the first day of their mindless grinding of missions. While Anna chose a mission that was not too easy, but not too hard, Tai chose the easiest Rank B mission to get as many missions done in a single day.
For the entire day, Tai and Anna were doing missions, over and over again.
Anna took a deep breath as she drank some water. "Tai, can we take a break?"
"Yeah, let's just clear out these monsters first."
Anna nodded and used her shadow tendrils to kill the monsters. Tai was also killing the monsters, but considering that they were posing no challenge, none of Tai's skills were leveling up.
"I think that's the last one," Tai said, pointing to a monster. "Why don't you take care of that one."
Anna approached the monster, but instead of using her darkness, she used fire magic, burning it to a crisp.
"Fina-"
Before Anna could finish what she was about to say, she suddenly disappeared, with a notification in front of her.

8 211A guy reincarnated as a sloth and is too lazy to be a protagonist
Hey, so do you also love a Story about people getting isekai’d into another world into a body of a monster that can evolve? Yea, sucks that most of them are either Harems (honestly, at first I was like "weird flex but okay", but now every fucking story that looks like it could go somewhere just throws the MC a new love interest every 3 chapters or so), or idiots that trust the first human they see to not kill them. Also, is it just me, or do most of them evolve into a human-ish Form way too fast? I mean what is the point of a monster MC if the guy is practically just an overpowered human? Well, after like about 3 years I am kinda running out of good stories, so I'm gonna try to make one myself. It's probably gonna be pretty bad to be honest, but it has no harem so it is already better than 3/4 of novels out there. And I haven't even started yet! But to be serious now: The story is about a pretty lazy guy who reincarnates as a sloth....I haven't really planned more for now... well, good luck to me I guess. Also I am not sure if I want this to have blue screens yet... I mean they look pretty neat but personally I'm kind of sick of them. PS: If you wondered, no I am not the person that took the photo of a sloth with sunglasses...god, that dude must be living the Life...

********* For English readers: (Might as well add this information in English to save the lovely souls looking through our works some time) I probably won't translate this work, but I'm working on another translation within YA, if that's something you'd be interested in. This one's horror/thriller, so.. yeah. Maybe sometime in the future. Otilia works at a daycare when a child disappears. Seconds later, the child reappears, like nothing had happened. She thinks she's worked too much, but when disappearences start to happen all around the globe, she and her boyfriend realize that something has gone really, really wrong. When they get an idea about what could be the cause, no matter how unbelievable, they will do everything in their power to get the information to the right people. This was my first-ever-novel and my first gamelit story (though I had no idea that was a thing/genre at the time). This novel contains a lot of violence and blood and can be uncomfortable to read for some people. There is also some violence from, and off-screen violence to, children.
