《The New Form》Rock vs Swordsmen

Three minutes later a human figure appeared in the distance quickly becoming bigger and bigger. As the figure got closer, Blake suddenly noticed something was wrong. The figure was still some distance away from him but he could already clearly see who, or what to be precise, was running towards him.
It was a humanoid being made of rocks about three meters tall with a bulky build and two shiny red gems for its eyes. About a hundred meters behind this being were two people dressed fully in black, each of them holding a sword as they were quickly catching up to this being.
'A golem! I can't believe I would meet such a magical creature this soon. But what is going on there, are those two trying to kill the poor rock?' Blake was really surprised when he saw the golem. He already fought a giant yellow rat but that could in no way compare to seeing a golem with his own two eyes.
As the golem got even closer, Blake noticed that the golem was trying to protect something it was holding in its left hand and that it had sword cuts all over its body. Soon the two swordsmen caught up to the golem and swung their swords at the back of the golem. The golem felt the cold light and surprisingly quickly turned around and sent a fist covered in brown light at the man closer to it.
When the swords cut into the abdomen, the fist of the golem simultaneously hit one of the men and he exploded like a balloon pierced by a needle. The golem wasn't much better off as its left leg was cut off cleanly and it fell on the ground. The man that survived was staring at the place where his companion died, stunned. Soon the surprise transformed into anger as he turned to look at the golem on the ground that was trying to stand up with its only leg left.

"You actually dared to killed my brother. I was going to grant you a swift death after taking the manual but now I am going to make you wish you were dead." The man was spitting everywhere as he roared, his face red and his eyes bloodshot because his fury.
"GROWL!" The golem was staring straight into the man's eyes without any fear but Blake could clearly feel the sorrow it was trying to hide. It slowly got up by supporting itself with a tree and after that it carefully put the scroll it was hiding in its left hand on the ground.
The man was clearly furious but when he saw the scroll, greed flashed in his eyes and he said grimly, "If your small village pledged loyalty to our Moren Clan and obediently handed over that scroll, it wouldn't have been annihilated. Hopefully you won't make such a mistake in your next life."
Having said that, he swung the sword in his hand at the golem's head. The golem quickly blocked with its left hand and punched the man with its right hand, the brown light once again enclosing the fist. The man suddenly disappeared just when the sword was about to land and he appeared behind the golem. He once again swung his sword and cut off the golem's head.
Seeing the head fall down he finally relaxed and let out a sigh yet what he couldn't see was the smile on the golem's face as if it wasn't the least surprised by what happened. Out of nowhere a strong light was released from the body of the golem and it exploded into hundreds of small sharp pieces that flew everywhere. The man clearly wasn't prepared for that and he was turned into a beehive.

All that was left of this destructive fight was a corpse, a scroll and several hundred small rocks in the middle of a forest. Nobody knew what happened here. Nobody but a small hummingbird that was looking from afar, his eyes wide open.

Author's Thoughts: What is litRPG (From wikipedia) - LitRPG, short for Literary Role Playing Game, is a literary genre combining the conventions of MMORPGs with science-fiction fantasy novels.[1] LitRPG is a literary genre where games or game-like challenges form an essential part of the story. A LitRPG work simultaneously narrates the story of characters inside and outside of the game-world. At least some of the characters in a LitRPG novel therefore understand that they are playing a game: they are 'meta-aware'. So, while Tolkien's Lord of the Rings is a fantasy novel, a book about people creating avatars and interacting in a Lord of the Rings MMORPG would be a LitRPG novel. Why do I read them? You know, I am not too sure. I love MMOs. I played them, quit them, joined up and repeated the cycle. They are fun! They are a massive waste of time but so are most games. Do I want to read about someone else playing them? Sort of?The advent of VR and the possibility of VR someday becoming so immersive that you can't tell them from reality sets the imagination on fire. What if this could be life? But most stories fall short. At the end of the day the protagonist hangs up his VR helmet and goes to have dinner with his mom and dad or other family and it becomes meaningless. It's like the story that ends because the main character woke up and nothing you read matters. There have been some books that explore the concept of the intersection of reality and total immersion VR. Enders Game is a classic. There were a few others that escape me but they exist, however, the cross between the game and reality is weak.So what if the game was real? The technology needed for total immersion VR is so advanced that by the time we reach that goal technology should have naturally evolved to include several items. You must have direct neural input. You simply can't have a total immersion (all senses and perfect presence) experience without this basic prerequisite. If you have direct neural access, you can probably do neat things like feed knowledge and skills directly to that person. You can undoubtedly do many horrible things as well. Muscles are controlled by the brain. If you control the brain why would you let the body just sit there and rot? A person that sits unmoving for 24 hours a day will have their body whither away just like a coma patient. However, if you control the brain you could control the muscles. On a basic level, this would be isometric impulses, working muscle group against muscle group to avoid atrophy. Taken to its logical conclusion you would be able to gain muscle mass and program muscle memory. The flip side is that you could remote control their body... but let's not go there. So what would people do if it were real? Well, they would probably limit and regulate it since the drawbacks are very obvious. Even if you look at the basic aspects of this you can see some negative possibilities. Look at the Sword Art Online anime. Personally, I think they missed the boat by putting a bomb in the VR helmet. Do you really need a bomb when you have direct access to the brain? So what kind of events would you need to have a situation where the obvious drawbacks haven't been explored? Maybe a society where the advancement of technology has so far outstripped the explorations of its applications that ignorance was truly bliss? Okay, so I had to put in an alien invasion to kickstart the premise, but that was just one of the possibilities.

The Flame in the Forge (A Slice of Life Isekai LitRPG)
Thrown into a world he doesn’t recognise, Niall Vendra has to adapt, learn and fight to survive. Physically, emotionally, personally. If Niall wants to save his family, then the man he was needs to transform. Surrounded by Minotaurs, Fae and Magic, Niall will have to reinvent himself as both a warrior and an artisan. Growth won’t be fast and it won’t be easy, but with patience and hard work, Niall can earn the Skills, Abilities and Classes to battle his way to the top. The Flame In The Forge is a LitRPG Isekai/Portal fantasy. You should expect slice of life with conflict and an overarching mystery to be solved. Niall will be both a crafter (primarily, but not exclusively, as a blacksmith) and a fighter. There won’t be a harem. But don't worry, there will be both flames and forges! I should be clear that while this is very much LitRPG, it's story led and I have tried to make it feel believable. So, for example, the first blue box doesn't appear until chapter 6. I hope that the payoff is worth it. Compared to some LitRPGs you may find the pace rather gentle at times. There will be some periods where it feels like Niall is eking out every level and others when, for good reasons, he makes a significant leap. My goal though is to give you a satisfying story, so that dictates when and how Niall's stats and skills change. I can reassure you that I fully intend for Niall to become immensely powerful, but I want you to feel like he has earned every level in a realistic way.
