《The Parasite》Chapter 5

Walking to the library to meet Jessica felt awkward, but I felt as if I could handle it. I had woken up several hours beforehand to get ready. Max teased me when he found out, which is fair enough, I guess. On a bright sunny day, with a cool breeze on a Monday. I took even paces to the library, passing people. Some looked happy, some looked glum.
I recall passing one kid, however, who caught my eye. He was crying, because his mom wouldn't get him some cotton candy from the marketplace. The mom looked embarrassed, and was scolding him.
The young boy spoke, however, though what he said wasn't audible. What disturbed me the most however, was the position he was in. He was crumpled on the ground, sobbing. His left arm was up and his legs seemed to be almost twisted, as if they had snapped. I was uncomfortable, but ended up going past the kid as I continued my walk to the library.
Once I arrived, however, things became grim.
I was met with police tape, the doors to the library had been welded shut and police cars were everywhere. "Officer? What's going on?" I asked.
"Son, you need to get off the premises." The officer said.
"What's going on?" I asked, staring at the doors.
"Henry!"
As if on cue, Jessica ran up to me, she was sobbing. "Rose is dead!"
I felt myself numb. I had so many questions in those few seconds. "W-Wha.." I try to say, but I'm so shocked that I can't muster any words. Jessica shakes in my arms as I do my best to comfort her.
The officer stares at me, "Son, you need to go." He repeats.
I stare at the guard, "You need to let me in."

"No! This is a prohibited crime scene!" The guard yells.
Staring at the door, I see why. Blood sprawled the window. A struggle must have occurred in there. I'm so shocked I don't know how to react. At this point, I'm so unsure what to do I just end up running home. "Henry, wait!!" Jessica calls out as I run.
I end up running home and running in the door, I throw my bag on the couch and take deep breaths. But that was when I heard the sobs.
I followed them into the kitchen to see my Mom sobbing. "Mom...? What's wrong?" I ask, startled.
"It's Max, honey..." Mom says, "He's gone missing..."

The Casual
Notice: On hiatus. *profanity tag added just in case a bit of swearing is required, but I'll try to keep it as profanity-lite as possible* RealWorldIII came with the motto "Bringing the imagination back into the gaming" with an innovative skill combination system that promises to create unique (see: not-actually-unique) characters tailored to each player's preferences (see: we-swear-it's-not-random) Alex is a random guy with the motto "Well... whatever" with a history of being at the top of the gaming scene (see: he was a kid back then) that after twenty years of working for daily necessities finds himself facing a tough dilemma: do I go back to being a corporate slave, or do I gain money by playing a game no questions asked? (see: not really a dilemma) The only question is, can an actual "casual", even if ex-pro, survive constantly playing a game? or will he end banging his head on the wall? The story will unfold mainly in-game, with little if any real life events happening.

My Good Friend Murphy
***Disclaimer*** I wrote and am writing this purely for my own amusement. That means that this could have major revisions done to it sporadically, it has more grammar errors than even the most mentally stable grammar nazi could withstand, and will not update at all regularly. This is an ad-hoc fun experimental work with forced motives, plotholes, and static characters. Don't expect too much. That said, this mutated mistake of a short novella follows a ditzy MC who has been transported to a new world with the dubiously useful skills origin and enigma and the obnoxiously imbalanced skill, traveler. If you'd like more incentive to give it a shot, you will never get spoilers about the plot because there isn't one (Actual synopsis coming soon, relative to eternity)
