《The Parasite》Chapter 3

I dropped Max off at the house at around 7 PM. I had a few hours to kill before I needed to be back by curfew.
I was trying to figure out a place to head toward, specifically a place with no animals. I finally decided to head to the library. I could do some research. Everything felt hazy after Spencer's. It was probably their cardboard-flavored pizza that did it for me. So maybe I just needed to take a quick break at the library.
I drove the car toward the library, passing by people walking their dogs or taking a run. I arrived at the library around 7:30.
I walked in, seeing the usual scene greet me. Kids reading comics or using the computers to play games. Adults either sitting or reading a book. I walk up to see my normal librarian, Rose. Rose was a older lady. She always wore a nice pink dress with some blue jeans. She had a pin with a emoji smiling.
"Hey, Rose." I said with a wave.
"Hi, Henry, dear!" Rose waved back, smiling at me with the nice grin she always has. I smile back as politely as I can. But her smile wavers. "Rough day?" She asked.
I couldn't decide whether or not to tell her about that wolf. "A little." I replied, immediately feeling like the world's biggest idiot.
"Don't worry, dear! If I were you, I would try to read some fiction books to calm your mind!" Rose suggested. I smiled, Rose was a pure person who never got angry at anyone. I wave a silent goodbye as I run toward the computers. I took a vacant computer and put in my library pin.
I got into the desktop and entered Google, entering WOLF LOCATIONS. I stared at the screen, reading the results, and immediately got confused. Wolves didn't appear in Nebraska. I realized there were only three sightings of a grey wolf ever in this town.

Had I just seen a rare sight twice in one day?
Suddenly, I was interrupted, being slammed over.
"Move out of the way, idiot! I need this!"
I looked up. Above me stood a girl with blonde hair and blue eyes. She wore a necklace that shone a emerald effect. "Hey, I-!" I started.
"I said beat it!" The girl yelled, pushing me out of the way. I wanted to protest, but I rolled my eyes. There was really no point. I decided to head home.
As I made my way out the door, I suddenly felt something slam into my side. I fell over with a hard thud.
"Oh my goodness! I'm sorry!"
I got up to find a girl with braids in her hair, and a skirt. "Are you okay?" She asked. I nodded slowly, and got up.
"Sorry, I was returning some books I borrowed, and I was in a rush." The girl explained.
"Oh, it's fine, really."
I noticed the book she was reading, Legends & Curses. "My brother would like that book." I said, awkwardly. The girl's eyes widened.
"Really?"
"Yeah."
"Well, maybe I should talk to your brother sometime. My name's Jessica." She extended her hand out.
I shook it, "Henry."
I stared at her. "What's your favorite legend in there?"
"Oh! It's about a goblin that was named Timothy."
I laughed. "Really, that's a odd name for a goblin."
Jessica laughed as well.
"Well, I gotta get going. I was using this computer to find out about this wolf problem I've been having."
Suddenly, Jessica's demeanor didn't seem so jolly. I noticed her face go pale. "Hey, you okay...?" I asked, confused, and a little startled.
"Wolf?" Jessica asked.

"Yeah?"
"Oh no no no no..." Jessica's face changed to a look of horror.
"What?!"
Jessica grabbed my hand, and ran to a vacant computer. She then looked up something. Something who's name I now consider horrifying. The Parasite.
I stare at the screen, confused at first. "Parasites, like those little virus things?"
"It's more than a virus..."
I then saw the picture. It was a grey wolf, however, its face was contorted and blood spewed from its mouth. Bits of blue goo ran down its face, stomach, and arms.
I stared at it for a while. "T-That's just a legend. It's not real." I said, startled.
Jessica went to another tab and clicked on a news article from several years ago.
Crisis. Several Kids in the Nebraska Area Go Missing.
On November 18th, 1989, over fifty young kids were reported missing. Ranging from ages seven to twelve. This marks the biggest disappearance in the span of two weeks. It is believed each kid was lured from their homes, never to be seen again.
Authorities report no signs of blood or any piece of evidence from any case. Except one. A boy named Miles Heeler had disappeared on November 2nd, 1989, with a message taped to the back of the attic, "HE'S WITH ME NOW", found by the Heelers' daughter. It is starting to make people wonder if there is a gang of abductors. Several search parties have been made, but the kids have yet to be recovered.
The only named victims listed here are: Angela Green (Age 8), Trent Green (Age 10), Phill Trevor (Age 9), Miles Heeler (Age 5), Issac Brown (Age 9), Michael "Mike" Garcia (Age 12), Cyrus (Age 16).
"It's a tragedy. All of it." A man said on the case, "The kids unnamed on there, the kids named, all of it..."
I shudder in terror as I finished the article. This had really happened? Who would do this...? I had a sickly feeling Jessica was about to tell me.
"Many people believe it was the work of The Wolf."
"No... N-No! An animal doesn't have THAT much intelligence!"
I refused to believe it. It couldn't be that I was being stalked by an animal that possibly killed over fifty people.
"Hey!"
Me and Jessica turned, seeing the same girl from earlier, she was chewing bubble gum.
"I'm talking to you, idiots!"
"Hey! Who do you think you are to just interrupt us like that?!" Jessica yelled back, seemingly irritated.
"What did you say?"
"You heard me!"
The next few minutes were a blur. Punching and screaming. The next thing I knew, Jessica and Hannah had been kicked out.
I shivered. I quickly ran outside, meeting Jessica.
"Hey!"
Jessica turned to me, she looked bruised but she still wore her smile. "Yeah?"
"Could I... possibly get your number? We can meet back here tomorrow."
"Sure! I'd... like that."
Jessica dialed her number into my phone. I nodded.
"Well, I'll see you later, Henry!" Jessica waved.
I waved back and watched her walk off.
I slowly got in my car and started to drive home. I stared at the rear view mirror quite a bit. Freaking out wasn't the safest option at the moment. But I felt as if I couldn't shake the feeling...
Was something watching me?
