Chapter 0040
Their line was broken. The people fought only for themselves. There was no teamwork. There was no order. All because an idiot went crazy and attacked their own side.
The situation was ripe for a leader to step up and take charge.
Ellen could have been that leader.
Except.
Except she allowed her emotions to get the better of her. She became fixated on Emery and her outstanding performance.
‘Why does she get all the attention? Her skills aren’t better than mine. Her movement technique lacks the finesse of mine. Her attacks do damage but mine does more. Why? Why? Why? Why does the Alpha Iron Clawed Wolf perceive her as the greatest threat among all the mercenaries attacking it? Why does Emery have to take charge? Why does Emery not yield to her?’
Petty thoughts and jealous emotions clogged the once clear mind. Anger and rage crept slowly in.
The once precise attack filled with power began to go wild, unnoticeable.
‘One idiot can kill her rival, why can’t she? The overseers aren’t doing anything. They might not be here. No one will know.’
Insidious ideas emerged from the depths of Ellen’s dark ugly heart. With nothing to hold her back, Ellen decided to take the risk.
A cruel smile gave the once aloof Ellen a sinister look as she shifted her target.

“When are you going to save them? It isn’t a test anymore. It’s a massacre!” Verack De Nunick can not idly stand by as the mercenaries were getting killed in the brawl below.
Base Avon-Ying also wanted to drop down and join the fight in a heroic fashion with an awe inspiring pose. He held himself back because he knew Emery would not appreciate the help.
Aria Se Jivock look at the anxious dunce and the rich playboy with a smug expression.
These two men are idiots. There is a reason why the damsel in distress routine is a classic.

Despite what women say, they like to be treasured by their loved ones, especially their soon to be life companion/soul mate. Regardless of how hurt their feelings are going to be afterwards, they will be glad they were alive.
“This is a test conducted by the Brilliant Yin Sect. We are only here as a guide. Their fate is in their hands.” Xing Zhi Hui callous answer agitated Verack De Nunick's already strained nerves.
“You mean you’re leading them to their slaughter in the name of testing them. You know they are not ready to fight a level 3 magical beast much less a pack Iron Clawed Wolves and their level 3 alpha.”
Xing Zhi Hui's cold unemotional stares angered the lovelorn Soul Practitioner.
“Fate must be grasped with their own hands.”
“Fate, luck, destiny, karma and coincidence are ties bound into one creating the thing you call Dao. She is here. Verack is here. Is it not fate?” Cerecity De Auvent interjected before her cousin can say anything. She immediately signaled for her cousin’s silence and allows for her to handle the situation.
Verack De Nunick smiled at her in appreciation. He knew she was trying to smooth his way and he appreciates her help.
Cercicity De Auvent was stunned by Verack De Nunick’s beautiful smile. They have been training together since childhood. Towards this awkward cousin of hers, she feels nothing but admiration for his determination and tenacity.
He would stand stoically as the others jeered him for his misfortune, all the while training harder than anyone in the clan. He needed to increase his strength. He wanted to be strongest. He wanted the power to protect the person he was destined to be with. This time. This time, if he was lucky enough to find her again, he will stand tall and proud in front of her, shielding her from the wind and storm that may tear them apart.

From the sideline she watched at Verack De Nunick grew from a solemn boy to a powerful man he is today.
Through it all, this was the first time she saw him truly smile.
For the first time, she found herself envious of the woman who was destined to stand by this man.
“Fate may have brought us here, but the choice must be in their hands.” Xing Zhi Hui replied, jolting Cercicity De Auvent back from her momentary paralysis.
“They don’t even know they have a choice.” Cercicity De Auvent countered. Cercicity De Auvent always had a glib tongue. After she was stunned by Verack De Nunick’s radiance, she was able to respond in an appropriate manner.
“How so?”
“They do not know the option for assistance exist.”
“They know we are here to oversee the test.”
“They know you won’t help them.”
“They have not asked for assistance.”
“If they ask for assistance, then the test is over.”
“It is better than dying.”
The back and forth between the stubborn Xing Zhi Hui and Cercicity De Auvent continued while an impatient Verack De Nunick scanned the battle below, hoping his soul mate is among the survivors.
“This is getting nowhere.” Base Avon-Ying interrupted the squabbling pair. Even though he is aware of Emery’s abilities, he is getting concerned about the situation below. He wants to help is life mate, however he knows Emery's temperament well. She will not welcome his interference. She might even blame him if he were to involve himself and she gets disqualified.
An angry life mate is not conducive to trying to start a blissful married life.
“Indeed it isn’t. If Cercicity De Auvent doesn’t get to the point sooner, the trouble below might reach a point where the majority of the mercenaries might die.” Aria Se Jivock said, indirectly telling the men the so called ‘concerned' cousin isn’t really that concerned about helping them.
Base Avon-Ying understood the subtle hints immediately.
Verack De Nunick… Verack De Nunick messed up six life times for a reason.
“What do you propose? I’m sure your partner will not see it as interference since it stems from you.” Base Avon-Ying smiled his gorgeous smile he used to charm women into closing the contract with his company. It might have worked on other people, but it was previously mentioned and will continued to be mentioned until Xing Zhi Hui actually learns how to interact with other people on a decent basis, that woman is an emotional dunce. Aria Se Jivock need not be mentioned. Those eyes of hers see more than the superficial.
“You three may release your powers and alert the people below. You may interfere if they request it.” Aria Se Jivock announces her proposal.
“Fine.”
“Accepted.”
“Of course.”
The three outsiders immediately accepted.
Base Avon-Ying releases his mental powers while Cercicity De Auvent release her soul power.
Verack De Nunick also release his soul power, but his soul power was tinged with power of the sun.
Verack De Nunick did not have all the memories of his previous life but since he touches the line of reincarnation, he retains some knowledge and a powerful soul cultivation method was among them.
In his previous life, he cultivated Sun Soul Mantra, which was back then a legendary tier mantra for the soul.
He was making a gamble. Although Soul Practitioners have various methods to divine the location of their soul mate, it is very limited. So even though he knew the general location of his soul mate, he doesn’t know who she reincarnated into among the group below. He was betting that his soul mate will recognize either the cultivation method he practised in their previous life or the unique aura of his soul.

Take Two!
College student majoring in botany has a fateful encounter with truck-kun while trying to get back in shape after realizing that his freshman 15 turned into the sophomore 20, and then the junior 30. After going through a very amusing(to some) hell, he gets the chance to transmigrate into a body of his own design on a magical world. Playing to his strengths, he chose the Plantkin race, and the new name of Sorrel to match. This is a slow-paced, magical, slice-of-life story with a focus on relationships. There will be sex(I'll try to keep the explicit stuff to a minimum, but it will be there), swearing, really bad jokes, and enough food to spoil your diet. There will not be a lot of action, epic quests to save the world, or anything even remotely resembling a big-bad-evil-guy(a few smaller bad guys, sure. But, no BBEG). Note: This is a re-write of my first story "Congratulations, You're Dead!". And, is much more what I wish I had written in the first place. The characters and the world are very similar, with a few key differences. The story may borrow some elements from Congrats, but should be considered as its own work. Reading Congrats first is not needed, or even reccommended, not unless you want to see some really cringey romance in the early chapters.

Empress' Evolution
The bright red light of the flames swallowed her vision but soon that red light transformed into a blue hue and she was dragged into that light. ‘What’s happening?’ It was too bright and she was forced to close her eyes, she was blinded — even though she was already dead. After being pulled into the light she began to feel annoyed as her skin was irritated by some kind of rough sand. By the time she opened her eyes. She could see the full view of the sky. It was blue and there were clouds scattered about. ‘Ugh, is this Hell?’ She stated as she rubbed her head with her fluffy and furry ‘hand’. ‘Furry?’ She looked at her ‘hands’ and her mouth opened wide. Her hands had become soft and fluffy paws of a white-furred beast with purple spots. ‘What the hell?’ She touched her face with her paws and confirmed that it too did not belong to a human. Below, she felt something was moving, she can tell as if it was another limb connected to her. ‘Don’t tell me!’ Turning her head around, she found a seven-inch tail sticking out behind. ‘Phew!’ She felt relieved that it wasn’t what she thought it was. “These soft and paws, this cuddly fluffy hair, this cute tail — ah shit, did I become a beast after my death or have I been dreaming of being human as a beast all this time? If it is the latter that is one long and realistic dream.” === [It’s the former, stupid *] === Said a woman’s voice from in her head. === As always thank you for reading, also the image in the cover is not mine, I found it on Pinterest and thought it was cool and suitable. All credits got to the illustrator. Also, this is a new type of story that I have not read about yet. Basically I am writing an evolution novel without prior knowledge so I don't really know what is considered cliche in this genre.
