《Helena's Plane》A Poll and Editing
Advertisement
Heya,
first, thanks for following the story so far. I might repeat myself, but I'm doing this only for fun, and just seeing that people actually seem to read the stuff I come up with adds to this.
The poll I will be adding to this post is mostly to get a better feeling for what others might like and I won't promise to stick to the results. Please vote anyway.
At the end of the post you find more details on what I thought when deciding on the poll's options.
The second part is on the topic of editing the chapters I have released so far.
I have written it down as I thought it up and released nearly all of the chapters without spending much checking for errors. That means there are a lot of typos, missing words, repeated phrases and the like. Basically a cringe-fest.
Over the next few days I will go through the chapters and try to get rid of most of those avoidable things. I might change a few paragraphs, but names, people, events and such things will stay the same. There won't be a need to go back and re-read it once I'm done. Just don't expect a lot of new content over the next few days.
Option A: You want more details! Long monologues, more information regarding the skills, a detailed character sheet every second chapter, even if nothing much has changed. The combat log should be even longer and you want a detailed description of every fight against every snake.
Option B: The boring option. You are fine with the progression speed so far. You can expect a bit more details regarding the locations though.
Option C: You are OK with slow progression, but a bit more stuff happening would be good. More dialogues could be summed up in short paragraphs just giving the important content. Locations can be briefly described and it would be better to wrap up fights without telling how the MC defeated each enemy.

Option D: You just want a montage. (random examples coming up, not spoilers: ) A year of studying at the magic academy in two chapters? More than enough! Building an impregnable settlement from scratch in a few sentences? Yes! Meeting new companions every other chapter and moving on without any tedious backstory? Just naming them "Cleric A" and "Fallen Knight B" would be OK with you!
Option E: more of a joke option, but feel free to choose it.
Well, thats about it. As always, feel free to just reply to the threat with your thoughts or send me a message.

Dear Spellbook (Rewrite)
Live. Study. Repeat. Tal never saw himself as an adventurer, but the call to adventure never much cared for his opinion. Despite his best efforts, his search for answers on the murder of his parents ever draws him into danger. Accompanied by a group of seasoned warriors, thus far Tal has gotten by on his own meager magical talents, but when one day he wakes up to find himself back in his bed of the night before, he is faced with a challenge he must conquer alone. What to expect: This story was born of an attempt to create in world lore reasons for many of the mechanics and tropes of D&D, but you do not need to know of them to enjoy the story. It's a single POV time loop story with slow paced progression fantasy elements. The story is not one of fast-paced power ups and non-stop action, but as it progresses, the action picks up. There is a lot of magic system exploration on a system built to unify the diverse magic of D&D into one cohesive magic system. The setting is an original world with familiar races and monsters but with new unique origins and motivations. The average chapter will be 2-5k words long, most being around 3k but there are a few less than 1k, due to the nature of the story telling device I used. Book 1 is complete. Posting is on hold until I finish book 2. Book 2 progress: The rough draft is done at 141656 words as of 7/9/2022. I need to reread and edit it but Im aiming for resuming chapters in September.
