Magic Tiers
Magic is classified in tiers. Tiers are not related to the actual potency of a spell, but only to how fundamental the physical phenomenon the spell interfere with. Higher tier magic will either require more aether, or greater control. Often both at the same time.
Basal Magic
This magic is used by animals instinctively. It might be the magic used by a bears to become more lethal, or a mole's ability to digest metals. It's innate, not learned. It can be exceedingly effective despite not being used on a conscious level.
Magic: Sharpening Magic, Strengthening Magic, Digestive Magic.
Known Users: Higher animal life.
Elemental magic
Basic magic that make use of commonly seen physical phenomenon. Most sentient races can only use magic up to this level and can only do so by learning it over time.
Magic: Light magic, Fire Magic, Lightning Magic, Force Magic, Barriers.
Known Users: Humans, Moles, Rat-Kins.
Advanced Magic
This magic make use of more subtle phenomenons to achieve subtle results. Magic of this class usually lacks the destructive potential of Elemental Magic. Usually only higher sentient species or especially gifted and learned individuals can achieve this tier of magic.
Magic: Communication Magic, Enchanting, Analysis Magic, Detection Magic, Life Magic, Healing Magic.
Examples: High Priestess Meridia, Queen Orta, Rat-Kin Seer, Mole Queen. High Elves.
Space Magic
Magic in this tier interfere with the structure of space itself. It requires an enormous amount of aether to achieve. Only higher sentient lifeforms like the Dragons are capable of collimating a large enough amount of aether to achieve this tier. Aether storage methods might allow exceedingly gifted individuals belonging to lower sentient species to achieve this magic tier.
Examples: Relocation Magic, Teleportation Magic, Space Barriers.
Known users: The strongest amongst the Dragons.
Dimensional Magic
There are two kind of dimensions:

One is a property of space, like spatial and temporal dimensions. Our own universe has at least three observable spatial dimension and one observable temporal dimension. There might be more.
The second kind refers to other universes overlapping but not interfering with each others. Also called alternate realities.
Spells in this tier interfere with the second kind of dimensions. It's an higher class of Space Magic, more fundamental in nature. It's impossible to weave this level of magic only with environmental aether. A way to store aether over millennia is required, like a Dragon Heart.
Magic: Dimensional Barriers, Dimensional Portals.
Known Users: Serenia, the strongest Dragon and head of .
Temporal Magic
Theoretical Tier of magic that allows the user to interfere with dimensions of the first kind.
While slowing down or accelerate the flow of time is possible with either Space Magic or Dimensional Magic, reversal of the flow of time might only be possible with Temporal Magic. Hence the name. Altering dimensions of the first kind also warps the laws of physics to some extent.
Magic: Time Travel Magic. Limited local alteration of the laws of physics and physical constants.
Known Users: None.
Creation Magic
Theoretical Tier of magic that allows the user to freely exchange matter and energy with 100% efficiency. Magic of this Tier might also allow for the creation or dissolution of dimensions of both kind, thus allowing the user to possibly create or destroy universes, or reshape reality itself. It might also be possible for magic of this tier to change the values of physical constants and rewrite the law of physics on a large, possibly universal scale.
Magic: Virtual Omnipotence.

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
