《Master of Learning (Color coded)》Chapter 95 Fighting the troll

The troll grabs one of the guards with both hands and picks him up. He is going to slam him into the ground and kill him. If he does, I doubt anyone would want him to remain alive. I have to jump in to stop his assault on the people. If he dies, I want to be the one to kill him for the chance at blue mage skills. I don't know the giant language. I have no way to communicate with him. I do know what they believe in. Trolls care for nothing, only for food… I wish I had some on me. I drop my void pack holding the books. I huge weight is lifted from my shoulders as it drops to the ground. I shield charge at him and kick his arm, forcing him to drop the guard. Using a gust of wind to cushion the guard's fall. He lands and immediately runs away in fear. I form a wind wall between myself and everyone else. I'm the only one in close contact with this troll now. I shouldn't go all out against him. I'm getting too strong, I might accidentally kill him. If I can avoid killing him, I should. I especially need to avoid using fire based attacks. I can't talk to it… How do I get through to it? I need something besides food that it likes. Trolls are technically not a monster, they are a humanoid but they still worship the god of death. How do I use that to-. He swings his hand down at me before I can finish the thought. I go to avoid it but almost instinctively, I don't dodge. Instead remaining where I am and barely moving to avoid his attack. While he swings I use two fingers to poke into his arm. I can feel his skin wrap around my hand, barely touching the nerves I temporarily shut his hand down. Trolls are known for their regenerative abilities, that doesn't mean I can't start shutting his body down. I start covering the area in my numbing poison breath. The poison will be dispersed by my wind wall so only the troll will be effected. It appears to be wor-. I'm grabbed by the hand that swung down at me. It isn't strong enough to crush now but he can still pick me up with it. Shit! He can already use it again. He picks me up easily to his eye level. I continue to punch him to no effect continuously casting my numbing breath with little effect. He looks at me with disgust before holding me above his head. He's going to try and slam me into the ground! WHAT CAN I DO!? THINK! I form shadow wings from my back. I have claws! I remember just when he is ready to throw me, I cut his eyes out. The wound will heal but it is enough to have him let me go. I use my new wings to catch myself as he dropped me upside towards my head. The only thing that is effective against trolls is poison and fire. I could burn him but it would ruin the value of him… The only conclusion I have then is too immobilize him. Continuing to blow numbing breath in his face, I am now also covering him in spider silk. Enough to be an annoyance and slow his attacks even further. He swings violently with no eyesight at where I would be if I wasn't flying. He begins to scream very loudly, he is talking in a language I don't understand. Most likely the giant language trolls speak. What is h-. Osmosis activated Learning the Giant language I can understand him somewhat now. “You GOROCHA! I kill GOROGCA here before I serve any of you GORCHALLA.” I speak up now. “I AM NO WEAKLING. THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO STAND DOWN BEFORE I STOP GOING EASY ON YOU.” “Who is that!?” “The one who has been fighting you rather easily until now.” His eyes have almost completely healed now. He looks towards my voice and sees me flying, black wings shoot from my back. Most likely a sight he has never seen before. “You are no human. What are you?” “I am a dragon, join my army and I'll make sure you remain well fed and you can fight in intense battles to sate your blood lust. If you refuse I will kill you without mercy.” “… If what your telling is the truth… Why are these humans not fleeing in fear at the sight of you?” “HAH! These fools think I am a human because of the form I am in right now. Just placing a mask on my face is enough to trick them! Last chance before I unleash fire down upon you.” This is sort of a long bluff. While trolls worship the god of death. They aren't cowards, meaning if he doesn't believe me even a little... My bluff will fail. He has to believe 100% that I am a dragon for this to work... At least the wings and my weird fighting style have helped make my lie more believable. It would suck to kill him, he would make another amazing guard for the fortress. And just like Rock will be very valuable in large scale battles in the future. “… Please don't use fire. I believe you and will serve you.” “Alright, I will purchase you from these humans and we will head back to my fortress before the day is over.” I land in front of him and turn around. The crowd is standing there speechless at what just occurred. It seems like they just watched a play of some sort happen. Where a small child stops the raging beast with some type of incredible magic. I think a few have recognized me as the dragon that blew someone apart but haven't said anything. I head back towards my seat and increase the bid… The auctioneer proceeds back to the auction. As if what just happened never did. I win the auction for the troll with 5 gold. The man who was there for it seems angry but doesn't make a big deal out of it… Which is good for him. I head towards the troll and climb up it. Sort of riding on its shoulders. The weight of the books isn't a problem for the troll and it also helps to serve the fact that I might be hiding my true form. I am easily 300 pounds with the weight of the books which the troll easily carries on his shoulders. My ragtag group of dwarves an elf and a troll return to my house… How do I get him back to the fortress now… There is no way he is fitting inside this house to use the portal home… I could bring the portal outside for him to use, everyone of the onlookers would notice if a giant troll had suddenly vanished though. He is getting looks still, many eyes are upon the troll who is not causing a ruckus inside the town. Many people look with eyes that show fear at him… Some people can never change, they'll always look at anything non human with those eyes of disdain and fear. “Stay here for one second. I need to go get something from inside, it should only take ten minutes.” I head inside and back to my fortress to get a teleport scroll. Going back through the portal, I get the elementalist from the house. Telling her to escort the other slaves I had bought through the portal in the basement. The dwarves are just the like others. Afraid beyond any means of explaination, I try to explain anyways. In dwarven. Thankfully the mother of this family speaks common. The elf is far different. She hasn't let her eyes leave me even for a moment. I finally speak to her in elvish, it almost feels weird speaking in elvish since I've never used it besides while I was learning it as a child. I explain the same thing I just did to her that I explained to the dwarves. She looks surprised but quickly speaks. “So, a human child of no more than 14, speaks common, dwarven, giant and elven. Fights on the same level of a troll and owns what seems to be a house that has a portal in the basement… A portal that is extinct magic… Either you are lying or you are not a human.” “Well… You are partially right, I know far more languages then those four. I had to hold back my strongest attacks to not kill the troll… And I have far more than a single portal seeing as I can make them. I would rather not lie to you but for now you can think of me as a dragon.” “… Fair enough. You did purchase me fairly, it seems you have no plans to try and have sex with me. So I'll follow you for now. If you're not taking the portal back yourself, then I wont either.” “Fine, you can travel out of town with me that troll and a gnoll to collect the portal scroll once we travel back.” We exit and start making our way out of the town. I dropped my book filled void bag off at the fortress so I am not riding the troll. In the slums we're almost robbed but I seen his approach far before he made it to us. He bumps into me trying to steal but before he can make his way away I pin him to the ground. He had attempted to steal my false pouch, filled with no more than ten silver. The fact that he would attempt to steal from me with a giant freaking troll behind me says something about how desperate he is. “Walk with me and explain why you would risk stealing from someone being accompanied by a troll. If I like your reason, I might give you some money.” He warily stands up. Not really knowing why I would be so generous. It seems that whatever he is stealing for is beyond his fear of the situation. We continue to walk towards the exit when he begins to speak. “I-I'm from a poor family. My father left to fight the north when I was young. Leaving behind my mother with four children. We received payments for a few months but they stopped coming. A few months later we received a letter stating his death from a surprise night attack. I'm just trying to provide for my brothers and sister since I am the oldest.” “It doesn't seem that you are lying… While I believe you… You are old enough to get an apprenticeship at a place of work that would help provide for your family. Why haven't you done that?” “Well… I am a lowborn… It would take too long for me to learn anything so no one would ever higher me.” “If you could learn any job. Which would you like to learn.” “Well… Anything to help me provide for my family would be nice. I do like the idea of blacksmithing more than anything else though. I know a blacksmith near my house and he seems nice enough. He even tried to make me his apprentice for a few months. Without me learning though I was wasting too much of his materials for him to keep me as an apprentice.” “Alright. Follow me. Elf, sorry I don't know your name... Can you speak common?” She doesn't answer me… Good, that means she wont realize I am teaching this commoner a job… Unless she is playing dumb… I guess it doesn't matter. I teach this commoner boy blacksmithing as we walk towards the exit of the city. It takes around forty minutes to teach him. We're almost at the line of the forest when he finally learns it. His eyes shoot open in surprise when he does. He can't thank me enough and he tries to run off before I stop him. I hand him my false pouch with the little money in it and pull out my real pouch. Fishing out 3 gold and 50 silver and adding it to the pouch before he starts to cry at the sight. Clutching the bag in his hands, he runs back towards the town… Now with that out of the wa-. The elf speaks in common. “Did he really just learn blacksmithing that quickly?… Not many humans would do that for a person, even if they could. A dragon would never be nice towards another race, especially when it comes to giving away money. So you aren't a human or a dragon like you said… What are you then?” “I expected as much, you could be any age so it doesn't make sense you would not know common. Even forest elves learn common as they would need to trade and communicate with local races.” “That didn't answer my question. What are you?” “I guess you'll just have to stay near me to find out… Speaking of which, what is your name? I would rather not call you elf forever.” “You haven't earned my name or story yet, as you haven't told me your name or story.” “My name is Kite.” “My name is Fayeth.”
