《Master of Learning (Color coded)》Chapter 79 New memories, meeting another god

I decided to absorb all the monsters I've slain recently. I was holding off until I had a big amount of them… I don't want the disgusting siren to age anymore than it has… The mind eel gives me 20 too all my stats. Similar to the sharktopus. I absorb the siren next… So gross I don't want it to be a part of me… Absorbing it gives me the shivers but after checking my stats, they've went up 5. I absorb the swordfish next for 1 point in each stat. Finally absorbing a jellyfish monster we've been catching. I should be able to absorb it without any problems since I have poison immunity.

I absorb the jellyfish… That wasn't that ba-. MY WHOLE BODY GOES NUMB. I fall down, I CAN'T BREATHE! My heart is pumping so heavily it hurts. All my limbs have a throbbing pain running through them. I can't breath! I CAN'T BREATH! This feels worse than drowning! My head begins to hurt and my vision dims. Shit! I fight to avoid passing out. It takes all my will power to not pass out. I begin puking violently everything inside my stomach. We had eaten some of the sharktopus earlier that night and that is what came up.

Druid skill upgraded Poison immunity--> Venom resistance- Immune to poison and resistant to some venoms

I can breath! I take several gasps of air as my heart calms down. The feeling in my hands and legs start to return. My vision comes back… Why did I decide to eat this with no one around? I'm alone on the top part of the deck. Not knowing the full effects of the jellyfish almost killed me. I continue to puke… Inside my puke I see something… A worm is mixed in with my puke… What the death god!?

Soul leech has been expelled from your body

...WHAT THE DEATH GOD IS THAT!? Aegis chimes in.

“It is a soul leech… I didn't know they were still around, I heard they went extinct before… There is no way for something like that to have been gotten by any means besides a god sabotaging you... For your souls strength to be strong enough to beat a soul leeches... You have beyond the luck of a human.”

“...FUCKING GOD OF BALANCE! What the shit, why are gods allowed to tamper with my life!?”

“...That would explain a lot of things actually. It leeches the survival chances from people. For you to still be alive after having a soul leech in you for any period of time… It is like you are beyond blessed… The leech would also explain your lower stats… You might have been born with it or been given it at a very young age to hamper you even further than normal. It leeches power from you continually… You might see a stat boost in the next few days. I doubt it will be spectacular increase though.”

...I am beyond enraged. God's have been fighting over my life since the moment I've been born! I feel cheated! My life isn't even mine to live. I'm the pawn in a game that two gods are fighting over. I start to think of how many obstacles I've been pitted against because of the gods trying to kill me. WHY ME! I HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING TO DESERVE THIS SHIT! Purple connects telepathically with me.

“Master… Did you just almost die?”

“Yea… I'm fine now though. Thank you for worrying Purple.”

I start to calm down… I hadn't realized how tired I was until afterwords. It felt like my entire body was weak from all the events that happened today. We fought against a boss and I had the close call with death… Far more tired than normal. With my body being heavy I start to move towards to front most boat. I see something strange on the boats deck as I'm flying… THERE ARE NINJAS HEADING TOWARDS THE CAPTAINS CABIN!

I stay in dragon form. Landing on the edge of the ship. I could yell for help but I want to see what these ninjas are doing here first. From my memories of Greed, they tend to be on friendly terms with sea travelers. I call out.

“May I ask why you've boarded my ships without my permissio-.”

I'm cut off as a handful of shurikens strike me. MOTHER FUCKER! They're covered in poison. Anyone else would have been knocked unconcious. I fly up into the air. I yell one more time.

“LAST CHANCE BEFORE I BLOW YOU THE FUCK UP! WHY ARE YOU ON MY BOAT!?”

One of the ninjas, fully robed in black clothing speaks up.

“You're an invader! Of course we're going to protect our village!”

I speak up again.

“I am a friend of Tezuna. Is this how you treat guests now?”

The one who was speaking removed her face wrap, then asked.

“How do you know my father?”

“I traveled with him on the ocean some fifty years ago. He had a pet fox named Tetachi… I'm going to guess you're his daughter. I didn't see you when I was here last time but he's spoken of you many times before. Your name is Nami… You look nothing like your father though.”

She sheathed her sword. The rest of the squad of ninjas did as well. With their actions and the look Nami is giving me, I feel something has happened to her father. Her father was a brown colored murine. She is pure white. Tezuna was missing most of his features on his face from constant battle. No whiskers, blind in one eye, a few fingers missing, part of his ear was bitten off, numerous scars cutting across his face.

Nami's face was untouched by battle. Zero scars… Meaning she is either far more skilled or far less skilled than her father… Even my face has a few scars. You can't fire knives that explode close to your face without taking some permanent damage. My left arm is a completely different color than the rest of my body since it has regenerated. It can't grow hairs either. With the less than friendly treatment… Something must have happened to the village.

“What happened to Tezuna… The last time I was here your people accepted me with open arms. For you to attack our ships without any provocation… Something must have happened.”

Nami looks down. Clenching her arm with her other hand.

“We… We were attacked by the pirates ten years ago… We did our best to fend them off but they managed to kill our most seasoned veterans… They kidnapped several of us and used their safety as a method to make us keep making weapons and supplying them… Tezuna died in the attack...”

“...We're going to kill the pirates. If you help us I can guarantee safe relations with us in the future.”

“Did you not hear me!? We were overwhelmed! They killed dozens of our best fighters! What can a few ships do against an army of thousands?”

“...We can beat them.”

I hear Purple connect with me.

“Master, I sensed you were in danger. You're brainwaves shifted a few moments ago. Do you need any help?”

“No Purple. I doubt they'll act now that they know we're not pirates. I'll convince them to leave but keep a link between us just in case I can't.”

I speak to the ninjas again.

“Tezuna was my best friend. I don't care if we gain you as allies… If you murine have fallen to the point you don't avenge your people that is fine. I would like to speak with your leader in the morning. If it requires me to come by myself I will. I doubt you murine folk have fallen to the point you would attack a person on a mission of peace.”

They all look discouraged… I know for a fact that any debt owed in blood against murine they would always repay… For them to not have avenged in such a long time, they are all probably waiting for a reason to join us. I hope my words have spurred them to join me later. They shouldn't attack tonight. I'll post some sentries tonight just in case. I go to sleep warily that night… Hoping to wake up for the next day.

That night I have dreams of another life… The life of a girl. I grew up in the part of the world my first set of memories are from. The south eastern country. This was around the time that the country was improving its living conditions. Villages slowly expanded and added sewer systems. I had grown up through these changes. I was very shy the first part of my life. Until around twenty when I had a coming of age event happen. I changed after that, living the life of a merchant. Traveling between towns and eventually starting the first merchants guild.

I lived a very full life. Never settling down with any single man. I gave birth to three children, all to different fathers over the years. On my death bed, I gave leadership of the merchants guild to my oldest son. Then gave the majority of my accumulated money to my second son. Finally, giving the house I lived in. With enough money for my third son to live/grow up in without any problems. My first son was somewhat of a go getter, so he would have protected his brothers for their lifetimes… My youngest son might still be alive as an old man in the south eastern country still.

Mental map expanded

Location of potential class unlocked Gladiator

Merchant skill gained Merchant's guile- able to convince people they are making good deals, when they are actually getting ripped off

Trait acquired Shy- bashful when it comes to things dealing with the opposite sex

Trait acquired Lustful- extremely strong sexual desire for the opposite sex

Title Food connoisseur- able to enjoy food more than most other people

Title Mapping expert- able to path out the safest routes when traveling

Title Employer- able to hire people for cheaper than normal, people are more likely to work for you if offered

...Those are some weird traits. I also got two of them. HEY IS ANYONE ELSE THERE!?… I guess not. I'm not looking forward to these two traits… They're two more traits that fight against each other. Just like my kindness and greed. I'm not sure I can go through my my new memories yet. I don't have the time to go through the new memories yet anyways… This life seems far more peaceful than Greed's did though.

...Before I wake up, I call out to the gods. SOMEONE ANSWER ME! My dreams fade to white… Before me stands a small man… It is me. He speaks.

“I'm the greater god. I've been watching you.”

He had a giant smile on his/my face… It is kind of uncanny how it looks…

“I can change it to a different face if you want.”

When he says that, he switches to Leaf's face… That might be even worse.

“How about your friend Gobber.”

Changing his face again… Yea, that is better. I can deal with that face.

“So, I take it you want to talk to me about that soul leech I placed on you.”

“...YOU PLACED IT!?”

“HAHAHAHA!… Yea. I saw something in you, I knew it would turn out well if I stunted your growth. By doing so, I knew I could get some better fights out of you… It's a good thing you weren't reliant on stats. You would have been boring as everyone else to watch! HAHAHAHA!”

“YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE!”

He made a table appear between us. With a chair appearing behind him as he sat down. My legs were taken out as a chair slid under me. He reached onto the table and grabbed a cup out of thin air. A kettle of tea formed on the table with a cup on my side. He took a few sips before speaking again.

“You act like it is a big deal. You barely lost any stats from it because of your class. The only reason I put it in you was to strengthen your survival through weakening it when you were a child… You wouldn't have been put in harms way enough as a child and would have taken the first steps out to adventure by yourself... Instantly losing to anything you would have fought. I SAVED YOUR LIFE YOU MORON! Sorry about the method you got it… Rosie shouldn't have died… I was just insuring my entertainment by putting it in food she had eaten. You were only drinking milk at the time though so, sacrifices had to be made.”

He began to twirl the cup around splashing the remaining tea out all over the table. Then continued his monologue.

“So, I guess you're hear for recompense for what I've done? Here is what I'm going to do. I'm going to give you two options. One, you get nothing! But the soul leech stays out of you forever. Or two, I give you a special reward chest.”

He snapped his fingers and a tiny chest appeared on the table.

“I'll put the soul leech back in your stomach and it will continue to keep your stats low… Well, around 100 less than they would be. It seems like the choice is obvious to me. I just want to see what you do though.”

He took another sip out of his cup with no tea inside and threw it behind him. It disappeared before it hit the ground. He leaned to a side and a couch appeared behind him. He yawned and said.

“You're choice though. I just want to see if you're going to go the boring route. Or pick the wild card.”

...He thinks I'm going to pick the leech… Or maybe he thinks I'm going to pick the chest… I should pick the opposite of what he wants me to pick… But if he knows I'm going to pick the opposite of what he wants me to pick… Does that mean he already knows I'm going to try to pick the one he wants me to not pick… If I do that… But what if he knows that?… I should just pick the one I want to pick… Damn you curiosity!

“HEHEHEH. I can read your thoughts. So is that what you choose? Do you choose the wild card box?”

“I'm not sure… Can you give me a hint at what it is?”

“Sure! When you open it you'll be eaten alive with happiness.”

“...What an odd way to phrase that sentence...”

“I like the unexpected of course!... You're starting to get more boring.”

The greater god yawns again.

“Please don't bore me… HURRY UP ALREADY!”

As he yells the white nothingness of a background fades to red for one second…

“Well… The last time I gave a demigod the choice. I got an amazing piece of armor out of it… So I guess I'll let you decide… Please don't bore me with your choice.”

His face forms a smile again. He begins to laugh audibly.

“HAHAHAHA! I can't believe your guts. To ask a god to not bore you! Fine! For you're brazen act against a god! A god who could smite you in your sleep if he wished. Blow you out of existence with a single thought. I'll add a single ounce of my power to that box...”

He points a finger at the box and it starts almost bursting with energy. I can see light almost radiating out of it.

“Now get out of here! I have to make an elaborate path to get you to eat another soul leech. I'd rather not just put one back into you. Good luck figuring out what I put the soul leech into that is going to effect you.”

He says with a smile on his face… Great now I have to worry about being effected with parasites again… I doubt I'll be able to ever remove it if I get infected again. My last thoughts before I wake up is that now I'm going to be constantly worrying about getting infected again…
