《Master of Learning (Color coded)》Chapter 59 First steps into the raid

So the main question is, who am I going to take with me? All my generals would be fine. Making the group myself, Gobber, Gargarz, Nargzar and Zergnar. They're my main generals. They have been with me the longest. Everyone from Lances group are also reliable. So Lance, Leaf, Trice and Leon… Making nine.

Gobber would probably get mad if I didn't bring Hilda… And my pets so Sock, Pokodo, Blue, the changling I named Morpheus, and my griffinling named Darkclaw. I wanted to name him something similar to his mother. Gobber's and Zergnar's pets which don't count towards the max number. We have ten members so far. Who else should we bring…

We could bring Epieoth and Brick… I'm not sure how well they'll get along with each other though… It seems like in every raid group there is always two people fighting constantly though. I'd rather it be two different people than me with myself. Kline has gotten better, we also need more healers to be safe. That bumps it up to thirteen… Who else should we bring.

We could just go with us… I'd rather have the exact number of people though… Well I guess I can count Gear as person. That makes fourteen, which is suitable to go with. It will take two weeks of travel to get to the closest tier two raid dungeon.

I bring the fresh gnoll and demon tribe troops we've gotten. I haven't been teaching any of the children classes are jobs when they were old enough to. We've gotten about twenty five new troops I'll teach while we head to the raid. Totaling fifty gnoll troops, one hundred demon tribe troops and two hundred automaton troops. Once again only about thirty automatons are constantly active.

The rest need to be started by channeling mana into them. It would take around an hour to get them all up and running with everyone helping. That's a pretty decent response time for artificially inflating our combat numbers by over double. While I could have taught them all a mana class, it would have weakened their combat potential too much. Maybe I'll make a few black mage automatons with illusionist. They'll be able to get their brothers up while he hold the enemies off.

What should I teach the troops while we're traveling… I also brought the teleport pad to get back to base quickly. We'll take it once we finished and leave the new gnoll troops to carry it back. We have a very high lack of healers and tanks for our army. We have anti mage, cavalry and a few archers. Not many healers are sprinkled in to that group. While the automatons are tanks, if we're attacked while they aren't up and running we'll be in trouble until they are.

I've decided to teach guardian, knight and white mage to the gnolls. They should all be able to learn the classes since Hilda has taught them enough common. Some of the demon tribe already have the spell thief class. I'll teach them white mage and warden. A single demon tribe was a low rebirth one. Meaning he didn't have a single class. While normally this would make it impossible for him to ever fight. With my help he might even be the best out of them all.

I'll leave the last two classes up to the gnolls. So adding a tank/healer regimen to the army has increased our armies continuous fighting power. Before we were a hit and run army using superior movement to attack and retreat. We can't do that on the ocean, so any fighting has to be drawn out. It will be a battle of ships before anything else. We could be boarded and will have to live through fights. Survival of almost two hundred troops will depend on these twenty five healers.

I'll bring a single healer from this group… He'll end up being the leader of the healers so I need to pick him carefully. I watch them all… Maybe I should have them pick their leader. We'll see how it plays out. We're still making our way to the raid. They'll sit on the outside training until we get back. It could possibly take an entire week to clear a raid. It covers a very big area.

One of the healers stands out more than the rest. The low rebirth demon race. He puts in more effort than the rest. He's probably already level ten with both white mage and warden. He even practices healing during the sparring matches we have once it's too late to continue traveling. Most of the strong demon tribe members have been killed in skirmishes on the boarder.

Epieoth is the only one with actual war experience left in his men. While some are strong he's by far the strongest. This other demon race would add to my single demon race general. He'll be the last member of our group. His name is Methodis. His classes are white mage, warden and druid.

Demon tribe members are similar to humans. They can learn three classes and four jobs with my help. I taught Epieoth warrior when I taught all the demon tribe members. From what he told me, both level one hundred skills he gets from his two other classes help him with melee fighting. Red mage gives him a boost to his strength by a portion of his intelligence. And spellthief gives a boost to his dexterity by a portion of his intelligence. The demon tribe members who can't fight have supplemented my job workforce though. Three to four new people working towards each job. Blacksmiths, tailors, alchemists, woodwokers, construction and gathering.

We make it to the entrance of the raid zone. We split off from the rest of the group, entering it with the group I assembled. This is a tier two raid, we shouldn't struggle at all with the number of powerful members we have.

This is more like a leveling mission for my new pets, while I also see how much stronger everyone has become. With monsters, they can age two ways. Either naturally or forced evolution to age. A good example is all my generals. Gobber and Zergnar being the most different. Essentially evolving into stronger versions of themselves that would be equivalent to a human aging ten years. If Darkclaw can evolve at least once, he might be able to fly. Greed butts in.

“If he can't fly, I bet we could sell him for a kingdoms worth of money.”

...I've started ignoring little comments he makes. Only when they're relevant to whats happening. He talks again.

“You know I can hear your thought process right… Kind of means you are talking to me in a way.”

I'll continue to ignore him… The thing with raids is they don't have a theme. Unlike dungeons the bosses here are more region based. Meaning we might end up fighting a basilisk at some point in the raid area. Which I would be fine with, I could solo one a year ago. This group could probably kill three basilisks at once… I hope I didn't just jinx myself… I would rather absorb different raid bosses since I can still gain stats from them.

Zergnar has taken to the air with Trice riding with him. She has scout so she can see things that Zergnar couldn't or would have to be closer to see. We wait where we are fighting the groups of enemies that approach. Each group contains about five to ten enemies but they are easily killed. They finally return with the location of the raid boss… A basilisk, we'll kill it and collect its meat for our troops. Also the scales can be made into a very strong armor. I did struggle with it though… I'm not sure what we will do since it can potentially one hit kill anyone if we're not careful.

The group wants to continue. I wasn't that worried though. Everyone in this group is a seasoned veteran when it comes to fighting. We set up around the basilisk while it still hasn't seen us. Me along with the other mages grouped together. Protected by three warrior familiars Leaf had made. We need her to have most of her mana. The only thing her familiars are there for is to take one hit from the basilisk before they die if he attacks us. I only buffed a few people with haste. With so many time mages it wasn't necessary though. I gave Gobber gift of the wild. Finally the silence is broken.

Gobber had taken the initiative and started to rush towards the basilisk. Followed by every other short range person. I began to observe the fight. Normally I would help but I'm here to see how strong everyone has gotten. If need be I'll step in and help. Gobber is moving so fast he could outpace an arrow almost. A person shouldn't be able to run that fast! Everyone else rushing behind him is also moving faster than I thought possible. Not as fast as Gobber though. Gobber makes it to the basilisk first and swings his sword… Cutting through its leg as deep as the sword could go.

Lance jumped into the air at the same time Zergnar had jumped off his griffin. Lance landed on Zergnar's griffin and jumped higher as well. At this time Leon and Nargzar had made it to the other front leg, cutting it on both sides. Brick shot a rock at the basilisks eye, destroying any chance of us becoming paralyzed from eye contact. Epieoth and Sock were at either side of the basilisk at this point, both cutting through its flanks. Finally Lance and Zergnar came crashing down from the sky on top of it. Spears piercing through, making the basilisk's head lurch up in pain. Gobber had jumped up to meet its head and smashed down so hard that his sword had broken inside the basilisks skull… The raid boss was dead.

Level increased to 30

Wow! Just wow… I can't believe how strong everyone has gotten. What I just saw was a boss I struggled to kill, even with all my trump cards be beaten in thirty seconds… I'm beyond shocked at how much everyone has grown… The biggest problem though is I didn't get to see any of the mages or other members get to do anything. The fight was over too quickly for them to make much of a difference. I hope we fight some stronger raid bosses so we can see them at work.

We loot the items that dropped plus take a good portion of the meat and scales of the basilisk. This high quality meat will be our food while we're here. Some people have gotten rares, none I didn't have the tree for and couldn't make. I already ate basilisk meat for the permanent stat boost but I can still eat it before a fight for the food buff. Which gives me one hundred of each stat for five minutes.

Finally the boss dropped around fifteen gold. Not too shabby for our first boss. Higher tier raids give an increasing amount of gold. To the point where most people who hit tier three or four raids retire shortly afterwards. Fifteen gold is enough to live comfortably for your entire life. One hundred gold and you could have servants working for you for the rest of your life.

Leaf has improved the most when it comes to mages. Seriously breaking through the class limit is something beyond ever hearing about. I'm still not sure what to teach her. I would also like to see how much Pokodo has improved. Our group is too balanced as it is. Normally you would have to balance around most people only having two classes… By having three or more classes, everyone is above average already… Gobber has eight classes… My gnoll generals have five. Those extra classes adding stats and skills makes this raid area so much easier than it would be normally.

We'll have to find another boss. I send Zergnar and Trice back into the sky. With Gobber's weapon being broken. To break a sword, especially a well made one like his… I'll let him borrow one of my totem swords. They're stronger than steel so it will be very hard for him to break it. It would also be nice to have more fighters with blunt weapons. Maybe I'll design everyone a unique set of gear. I should do that before we fight the pirates. We'll take a month long break so I can. As I think that Zergnar is heading back… WITH A ROC CHASING HIM!
