《Master of Learning (Color coded)》Chapter 26 Permanent injury...

I'm going to replace the rocks I've been shooting with knives. A few reasons being, the rocks don't perfectly fit in the tubes so I lose some power. Also I could enchant and infuse anti magic runes on the knives making them more potent. The infuse anti magic runes I put on them are all flare, I enchant them with debuffs like poison spit, ignite, plague, improved counter spell, purge and hex.
There's no way someone can get hit by this attack and still be fine. I practice it and...all the knives explode into shrapnel when they're shot at a tree. One managed to cut through the right side of the tree. Another embedded itself into the center not making it all the way through. One more shot might be able to finish cutting the tree down.
The test was successful but, I need to buy more knives for it now. And I should keep some rocks on me just in case I need to fire it more than once. I should also have a few back up wind scrolls and have a single shot knife cannon for emergencies..
It will take around a week to build up my supply of wind scrolls back to having enough for all seven tubes. My sleep schedule has been reversed so we're going to fight in the forest tonight and see how it goes. I meet up with Gobber at the entrance of the city.
He's starting to get accustomed to talking to people, him and the front guard are starting to become friends while he waits for me. I think she may have a crush on him. He already got my pets from the stables and has his pet spider. I summon an archer familiar and a skeleton. I give the archer the enchanted arrows for his quiver and we head towards the forest.
The first enemies are three dire wolves. Poison bolts aren't that effective against them but its effective enough for Gobber to get some clean hits in with his new sword. He doesn't use his crossbow very often anymore. He's been practicing at being a tank recently and does a good job at it. We kill two and Gobber tames the other dire wolf.
We're a party of eight now Me, Gobber, Sock, Pokodo, Gobber's two pets unnamed and my familiar and skeleton. I should buy a set of gear for my skeleton, since he shows up without armor or a weapon I give him my metal training sword. A few more monster kills, I could try to tame the dire wolves, big spiders or vampire bats we're fighting but I don't think they'd make good pets.
As I already have a wolf and Gobber has one and a spider. Having a bat would be helpful but I haven't managed to tame one yet and it might be a monster that can't be tamed. Before long I see something in the distance with scout, we approach it.
It's a freaking owlbear! I don't have my knives cannon ready yet either, I only have a spare one...Without that I don't think we can kill it. Owlbears are a regional rare creature, they're very difficult to kill. We're ready to leave than it notices us. The skeletons creaking bones gives us a way. Shit!
The owlbear looks at us confused then stands up on its hind legs and roars. Crap its definitely going to attack us. I fire an arrow into its head, that only pisses it off. I pull out my one knife cannon but it's still to far away. I activate my harmonicas and use my stat injection potion.

The archer familiar keeps firing off arrows, they're either bouncing off missing or doing no damage to it as it rushes at us. When it gets ten feet from us I shoot the knife cannon. It slows it down a lot, The knife had ignite and flare on it so when the knife hit I seen some fire shoot through it's body. The owlbear keeps charging though. Should we run?
Pokodo jumps off socks back lunging at the owlbear clawing one of its eyes. This stops the owlbear momentarily, I hope Gobber can take a few hits from it. I take this time to use nature magic to try and make spikes to impale it but it doesn't work and the earth just breaks after pushing into its skin a little. The owlbear regained its senses, I start firing as many bolts into it as I can in a short time between attacks.
Gobber is managing to fend it off right now. But I fear it wont be long until he gets overwhelmed. I've fired a whole clip into it already I eject the clip and grab another letting the discharged clip fall. Sock bites one of its hind legs the archer is still firing arrows at it. Gobber's spider familiar is spitting poison towards its eyes but hasn't hit yet, Gobber's dire wolf is on the other back leg of the owbear that Sock isn't on. The skeleton armed with my metal sword is beating it from the side. Gobber gets knocked down.
Fuck! Gobber might die! I rush towards him charging a chi wave if I use it to far away and with too much power it might hurt the pets. 10%! I put my hand on the owlbear and fire it. It launches it back a five feet but it didn't knock it down or kill it. Where I had my hand at there's no fur now only a big gash blood gushing out of it.
The owlbear charges at me, I taunt it and start running away from it firing bolts one handed backwards at it. I'm going to run in a giant circle until Gobber can get up. Its getting closer and closer to me, owlbear's are freaking fast! I start making pitfalls with nature magic, chanting magic while running is very hard to do but I manage to make the ground behind me slippery enough the owlbear trips. I turn around when that happens and hit it's good eye with a poisoned bolt.
It has no vision now its only a matter of time until we can kill him I think as I load in another clip to my crossbow. Everyone has caught up but a vampire bat is following them. I start chanting a flare spell since it seems to be wide enough for the bats to not be able to avoid it and catch it on fire. I turn my attention back to the bear and its right next to me.
It heard my chanting and its close enough to hurt me.
“Shit I should have voiceless chanted.” I think quickly.
I don't have enough time to do anything before it bites my hand, its beak sinking in. It starts to shake its head back and forth tearing the tendons in my arm, I might lose the ability to use this arm. I charge another chi wave ten percent and place my free hand on the owlbears head. It broke the owlbears skull. I start fumbling for a tier three healing scroll. Casting it on myself.

The bat was easily dispatched but my hand isn't working right. My fingers wont move at all. I cast a few more healing spells on it and I get slight control back but it might be permanent damage. At least no one died plus my pets gained enough levels to evolve. Still though it will be much harder to do anything including fight without both hands. I just wish I had the knives cannon ready we could have killed it without a problem…
I did waste twenty percent more of my chi… It had to be done though or I might have lost my entire arm or worse. If I used twenty percent to start on the owlbear I might have injured my allies. Should i use regrowth? It's only a small injury so I shouldn't go crazy from it but the pain will still be tremendous. Then I hear someone talk
“That was a close one master.”
That wasn't Gobber, it was a girl voice. It wasn't my familiar the sound came from that direction though.
“What's wrong master?” Pokodo asked.
Wait what!? Pokodo can talk now, she also evolved into a unique variant of what I'm guessing was the white ferret. She's smaller than she was previously but also her fur changed from pitch black to pure white. Is that why?
“So do you remember everything since you bonded with me? What is my name.” I ask a question to judge Pokodos intellect.
“Masters name is Kite, my name is Pokodo, Sock's name is Sock. Gobber's name is Gobber, Spidy's name is Spidy and Direclaw's name is Direclaw.”
Where the last 2 Gobber's pets names? I guess I never asked him.
“Are those your pets names Gobber?”
He looks at me. “Yep.”
Well I guess that answers how smart she is.
“Master can I heal your injury?” Pokodo asks.
“What do you mean?”
She doesn't answer and just starts chanting healing magic. Its a very strong healing magic I've never heard before. The tendon damage that happened healed.
We decide to call it an early night, I need to go to the library and find a book on animals to see what these rare and unique variants are. I could ask Pokodo about herself but she might forget or not know something important about herself that I would regret not knowing later. I can already imagine it. “Master never asked if I could use teleport magic.”
I would kick myself if Pokodo could teach me something that big and I didn't ask. I find one in the library, I could absorb it but I might not learn the things I want to from doing that so I wont.
I find alpha dire wolf first. It seems to be a bigger, stronger variant of dire wolves with a leadership passive making it a good pack leader. Pokodos species was extremely hard to find. I found white ferrets but it doesn't appear that they have the ability to talk or cast magic. Just how special is Pokodo? I ask Pokodo only half joking.
“You can't cast teleport magic can you?”
“No the only magic I can cast is healing magic.”
That's alright I still got a healer out of this and it might not even be white mage.
“What type of class do you have Pokodo?”
“I'm a white mage.”
Well that's disappointing but Pokodo still managed to heal my crippled hand.
“What was the name of the spell you cast Pokodo?”
“It was called regeneration, it can heal crippled limbs but not restore whole limbs. It doesn't heal any health though.”
That's still really helpful. I cant believe I have a talking pet now. Maybe I could have her teach the spell to me?
We go to sleep and the next day I bring her to classes. Everyone who hears her talking is amazed. We finish school and I decided not to fight until I can get the knives cannon ready. We'll deal with the gnolls before I go back to training. I head to the slums, I know there are destitute adventurers here with shattered bones and destroyed body parts that Pokodos magic can heal.
We go to the slums and there are less people in the streets than normal. There's also a big new entrance leading outside the city I head that way first and see that a big portion of outside has been turned into a farm fenced off from the outside but still enough to grow crops. This city was importing all it's food, so having a self sufficient branch to help cut costs and feed the poor will help the city tremendously.
The streets still have vagrants though, maybe I should teach a few more classes? I see someone with a pair of crutches moving down the street.
“Hello sir would you like my pet to heal your broken leg?”
He just stares at me like I'm a crazy person. Then Pokodo speaks.
“It should only take a moment.”
Surprised to see a talking animal he starts to sit down. Pokodo regenerates his leg which the bone was piercing through the skin. It magically popped back in and re-fused itself the man stood up on both feet probably for the first time since the injury happened to him screaming incoherently from happiness he ran off tripping onto his face. Still getting used to his leg I guess. I yell out.
“Does anyone need a body part healed? My pet will do it for free.”
I have to form a line because so many people showed up, I brought a mana potion for Pokodo to drink but even so this might be too much for her. I'll have to split it up into separate days. She gets through about 6 people out of twenty or thirty before she runs out of mana.
She uses mana recovery which is a white mage passive skill and regenerates the limbs of six more but I don't think she can do more right now. I give her the mana potion and she does two more but that's as many as we can do right now. I close up shop.
“Sorry Pokodo is tired, if you still have an injury I'll be back tomorrow. Also spread the word so more people can get fixed. She can't heal missing limbs”
We're leaving and I thought tomorrow I could teach a class while people waited in line. At that moment someone picked Pokodo up off the ground and started to run with her.
“What is this man doing?”
Pokodo asked not realizing someone was trying to kidnap her. He's very fast I can't keep up with him, I cast haste and feral roar with that I barely catch up pulling my sword out and cutting his leg to stop him. He starts to fall forwards but that would crush Pokodo so I grab him by his coat and slam him onto his back.
Its the man from before, the one who tried to steal my money. He also learned how to be a scout from me. This is what he's using it for? THIS PIECE OF SHIT!
"I'll fucking kill you!"
Enraged, I pull out my knife cannon and fire it at him. It shatters on him killing him instantly, some of the shrapnel hits my face but I don't care.
The attack was loud enough to draw the attention of the guards and they come running to get me. I make no attempt to flee.
