《Unsightly Gluttony》Chapter 24 – Red-Hood Stuff

Once upon a time, there existed a little girl …
The little girl had a pure appearance of white hair, white skin, and even white eyes which almost made her seem like she was blind if one didn’t look at her eyes properly.
One day, this little girl was found half-dead and on the verge of starvation in the middle of the forest in a heavy downpour by a certain grandmother.
The grandmother took off her hood and gave the unconscious little girl her white hood so less of her body would be exposed to the rain as the grandmother difficultly carried the little girl back to her cottage in the edges of the forest.
Nobody really knew where the little girl came from, there were a lot of theories surrounding her origins ...
One historian claimed that the little girl was a runaway slave from the Mongari Steppes, another one claimed that she was a fallen noble heiress from the Russiva Empire, and one even claimed that she was the subject of a demon experiment from the radicalists in the Zhong Dynasty.
But one thing the historians all agreed on, was that the little girl was as mysterious as hell.
At first, when the little girl had recovered the little girl was ferocious and often acted more like an animal instead of an actual little girl.
The grandmother had planned to let the little girl go but when she saw that the little girl highly favoured eating apples the grandmother saw a use for the little girl.
The grandmother taught the little girl how to speak.
“O-b-e-d-i-e-n-c-e.”
“Oh-bee-di-ensh?”
The grandmother taught the little girl how to read.
“This says ...
The grandmother taught the little girl how to follow instructions.
“Kill the bad children, so I can have more apples?”
“Yes my good child ...”
The grandmother taught the little girl how to defend herself.
“Please don’t hurt m—“

The grandmother taught the little girl everything.
But as the grandmother taught her everything the little girl knew, the grandmother didn’t teach her everything she herself knew.
Because she feared the little girl’s power.
The girl was learning at an incredible rate, and grandmother feared that the little girl would soon learn about the things the grandmother was really making her do.
The grandmother knows that the little girl already knows of the truth about the horrors she had made her commit.
But one night, she had to end it all, before she learns what the grandmother feared the most.
...
...
...
“Please ... stop ... why are you doing thi—”
*stab*
“... I did it again, grandmother.” The little girl did it once again, showing complete obedience to the grandmother’s commands.
The grandmother breathed a sigh of relief, pulling something out of her basket as she was convinced that she had not been too late.
“Very good, now stay still ...”
“... grandmother? What are you doing?”
The little girl wondered what her grandmother was doing, usually in times like those she would have gotten a reward, which was a piece of candy from the basket the grandmother carried.
No, the girl actually knew what the grandmother was doing.
The grandmother was going to do what the she made the little girl do to every children she came across ...
Kill.
The grandmother was going to put an end to the little girl before the little girl could put an end to her, which was only something natural.
“It will all be over in just a sec—“

*grab*
But it was too late.
The little girl had already learned about the intellectual privilege the grandmother feared the most.
The little girl learned how to think for herself.
“You’re not my grandmother.”
And with those few words, she stabbed the throat of the grandmother with her bare hand, causing her to fumble over and drown in her own blood.
But she didn’t stop there.
*stab*

The girl kept stabbing fiercely with nothing but her nails, causing the blood to sully her clothing.
She continued striking, until as philosophic as it was ... there was nothing left of the grandmother.
And in turn, her hood was drenched in a deep shade of red, just as the rest of her clothing.
Not only her clothes, but her hair which was pure white was permanently drenched in the dark blood red which was black, symbolizing the blood on her hands.
But the little girl didn’t care about any of that …
“!?” The little girl scurried over to the basket that the grandmother always carried, bringing it close to her and opening it.
“Finally ...”
Free will, she no longer had to follow orders to receive her loved little sins ...
But just as she was about to eat one of the sweets, a delectable apple, she felt strangely full, as if she didn’t want to eat anything anymore.
For the first time in her life, the girl didn’t feel the need to eat.
And so instead of letting the apples rot in the basket, the little girl happily gave away the fruits in the basket to the children in the world.
All except for one, as what the little girl feared the most was her hunger reuturning.
Красная Шапочка, Le Chaperon Rouge, Rotkäppchen, Caperucita Roja, Cappuccetto Rosso, Punahilkka ...
In her story she had many names, but the one that stuck the most was ...
Red-Hood. (Yeah I shortened it)
Syndikat Owner, Alex Wirz, Russiva Imperial Year 782 Month 4, Day 16, Unterwelt (Berilian), Deutsche Empery
*slam!*
“Useless! Useless! Useless! Useless!”
The man who said this in an angry voice was Alex Wirz, the current leader of the largest criminal organization in the Unterwelt, Syndikat.
He was currently in his underground estate in the middle of the slums, and although it maybe the middle of the slums it was actually hidden from sight.
Since you know, the facility was underground ...
“Something like this! This is ridiculous! Absurd! Nonsensical! Hysterical! Foolish! Ridiculous!”
“You absurd twice—“
*bam!* A hand slammed down on the large table in front of Alex.
“I know that you idiot!”
“Can someone tell me!? What happened to forty percent of our personnel and facilities!?”
For the past 8 days, a figure of extreme anonymity has assaulted the Unterwelt relentlessly.
None of the larger gangs noticed it at first, but small gangs started to disappear one by one slowly over the course of little over a week.
Small organizations disappeared mysteriously overtime, but nobody really took any notice to this.
There wasn’t any signal or sign that the small gangs were being exterminated because no evidence was left behind.
No bodies, courtesy of Reichel, no leftover blood or signs of fighting, courtesy of Adrian.
The Unterwelt for the first time in decades, was starting to feel larger upon the removal of the small, insignificant, and even unpleasant groups.
The large syndicates however, didn’t question their sudden disappearance as they took it as some kind of sign that the small groups gave up on expanding on each other’s territory and reached a consensus, they thought that they had moved their base of operations to another smaller, yet large city like Hemburg, or Coulogne.

But quite unlike the large groups, the middle group was more cautious.
After the 3rd day or Reichel’s onslaught finally moved onto the medium-sized groups, which shocked the Unterwelt.
Reichel couldn’t finish off the all the personnel from the medium-sized groups fast enough, causing stragglers to spread the news.
By the time she had already put away all her food for shelf-life expansion processes, the secret was out.
Something was wreaking havoc on the Unterwelt.
And that was the Red-Hood.
“Scheisse! Literally just one person!”
The Syndikat, just like with the other large groups who dominated the Unterwelt were invincible because they possessed the sheer number and wealth needed to push around any other organization with just numbers alone, they were untouchable as long as they didn’t earn the ire of any high-ranking noble in the higher districts.
“But that’s the problem ... it’s just one person ...”
If it was a whole organization, they would be large enough for the Syndikat to actually set up guard against, but not only was this mysterious invader not tearing through their ranks with ease, she was doing it too fast to for them to react!
Just like how a mosquito can escape unscathed after sucking a bit of your blood, the Red-Hood was doing hit and run movements too fast for any of the large organizations to react.
If it was a group of people, the large groups could stop them in their tracks, but with the assailant being only one person can get you far in enough to go unnoticed until the moment after the damage had been done.
But from the way that whatever sign of fighting was cleaned up before any other group could take notice of what was left, everyone could think of one thing that was concrete.
‘The Red-Hood is being supported by one of the large groups!’
The cleaner-squads, the highly accurate strikes which made it seem like the Red-Hood knew the places of every organization hideout like small scars on the back of her hand, it was painfully obvious that the Red-Hood wasn’t alone.
‘But the question is … who?’
It was obvious that it wasn’t the official higher-ups of this country that were backing the Red-Hood, if it was them they could always arrest them in the open.
But those people would never do that for a lot of reasons …
One of which was the fact that the higher-ups were realists, they saw the Unterwelt as some sort of necessary evil that the city so needs.
Because if it wasn’t them, then who would?
The Itulian Mafia? The Yakusa from Kyuushu? Or maybe even the Heishihui from the Zhong Dynasty?
Such foolishness, it was better that the people from the Deutsche Empery managed their own misdeeds rather than leaving the city’s darkness vulnerable to foreign influences.
And it couldn’t be the said foreign influences as well, since such foolishness wouldn’t go unnoticed by the large organizations such as the Syndikat.
So if the perpetrator wasn’t them, then it could only be …
‘One of the large groups …’ Alex grit his teeth.
It was sensible though, and even Alex agreed, the Unterwelt had been shared for too long, it was time for it to come under one ruler.
It was time for change.
But who was the group supporting the Red-Hood?
Was it the proud Rochlicht? (Red Light)
The towering buff Ringvereine? (Ring-Brothers)
Or maybe it could have been the devious Libelle … (Dragonfly)
If only Alex had any idea if any damage had been done to the other groups, then it would be painfully obvious that the one who was the least damaged was the one supporting the Red-Hood’s movements …
Except he didn’t.
The other groups hid their conditions and always appeared to be in tip-top shape, insisting that they are in 100% capacity to show no opening that the other large groups could exploit …
Everyone was keeping their group status a secret …
It could be anyone.
‘But to think they would rely on only one person …’ It was certainly something unorthodox to rely on a single figure to eliminate whole organizations with little more over than a week.
“Herr Wirz?”
“Leave.” Alex said as he placed his palm on his face. Obviously looking stressed.
After Alex’s executives nodded among themselves, they left the room respectfully without saying a word, it was at times like these that Alex didn’t really care about anything anybody would say.
After waiting for a while, making sure that the people who had left the room had properly exited, Alex reclined his back further on his comfortable chair.
“Herr Xiao …” Alex called out a name inside his dark conference room.
And suddenly a shadowy figure emerged from the ceiling.
From his shadowy appearance his body features steadily became more visible, the man was at least 180 centimeters with bulging muscles that his shirtless figure made it seem like he was the definition of the term ‘manliness’ like the Pillar Men.
His black hair was tied into a braid and went on just below his neck, his bare body was covered with scars especially at his arms, which had multiple slash scars which were a reminder of the grim battles he had experienced throughout his life, and of course he was wearing at least some sort of baggy pants paired with black Tai Chi shoes for the minimum amount of respect for public decency.
No matter how manly one was, you can’t just go around public without wearing anything after all …
“Actually it’s herr Han, Xiao is my given name, us Easterners put our surname in fron—”
“I don’t care! Damn Easterner culture! Why can’t everyone just be Deutsche!?”
“…”
From stressing about how he should manage the Syndikat to worrying about Easterner name etiquette, each passing moment only made Alex more stressed.
“Sigh, Look, I’ve no choice but to rely on your strange Eastern martial arts for this, I expect you’ll give me results!”
Despite the man’s attitude clearly not matching up with his intimidating looks, he was as strong as his body implied.
The scars on his arms were signs of rigorous training that made them be able to deflect blades with ease and even block low-grade sword techniques with nothing but his bare-hands.
Trained in a style of fighting called Wushu, the man, Han Xiao is one of the psycho travelers commonly seen in random places trying to hone their fighting styles with opponents from around the world.
To put it shortly, they were monster hunters.
For a monster like the Red-Hood it would only appropriate to send a monster-hunter in return wouldn’t it?
“This little Rötkappchen will be crushed beneath my fists which are harder than iron!”
Han Xiao wraps his right fist with his palm, performing the Bao Quan straight after bowing respectfully.
“雪花飄飄北風蕭蕭, Herr Wirz!” (Leave it to me! I won’t disappoint you Mr. Wirz!)
