《The Immortal》110: Brute

“No! No way!” The old lady became emotional. She runs out towards the crowd.
“What do you think you are doing! Leave my home alone!”
I follow her as she reveals herself. I am still unsure of what action to take.
“Ah, it’s the matron! Get her!” Some random chump in the crows yells as he points towards her.
It seems most people are just standing on the sidelines, but two men and two women move towards the matron. One of the men runs toward the old lady, as if to tackle her.
“OOF” I intercept him with a kick to the gut. His body bends and he makes a sound as if all the air was kicked out of him. I hope I don’t do any lasting damage.
“Fucker!” “What the hell” The other people who were advancing are yelling at me.
“Try to hurt innocent people and you… get hurt.” I try to say something menacingly, but I think it only ended up sounding stupid.
“Innocent?” The white robed man, who held the speech earlier stands in front of the crowd. He turns his face an attention to me.
“Have you not heard how we were punished for our sins? How no food was to be found in Berliso, and only after we took righteous action, was God appeased and our food returned!?” His speech is very tonal and effective.
“That was just a coincidence” I say. It really was. “Why else would it only happen to Berliso? Isn’t there alchemists and indecent establishments all over the place?”
“You dare say God acted on a mere whim! That God had not planned all? That God had not seen all and acted accordingly!? How dare you! We know now you are wicked, as if protecting these sinners were not proof enough!” Huh? I find myself overwhelmed. I have never been good at debates. The crowd starts jeering at me. Also, the God here didn’t really seem to be the omnipotent type. I mean, God was surprised that I was the one at the end of the labyrinth, right? And the power from the dungeon waned, so God must’ve needed to tap into that, right?

“Fuck you, I am stronger than all of you anyways” I can’t make my point with words, so I do so with might.
“You mean to say one man can stop the just crusade of the faithful? The faith makes strong! The faith unites us! All are powerless against God’s faithful! Get them!” He points exaggeratedly as he commands our seizing. A lot more people approach us this time.
I sigh. I don’t want to hurt these idiots, that are clearly just being misled. I rapidly punch 5 of them in the gut, of which all fall over. Some even puke.
“This idiot doesn’t know what he’s talking about!” I scream.
“What God thinks has nothing to do with who’s stronger, you will leave these people alone, or so help me God, I will punch every one of you!”
“This is clearly a great evil! Whoever so has arms available, do not hesitate to use them” A few of the men was carrying arms, but no women, resulting in six guys approaching, four with spears, two with swords.
Another sigh escapes me. This is the second time someone has called me a great evil. I hope it doesn’t become a trend.
“Really? I mean, didn’t you see how fast I moved? You can’t hope to do anything!” I try to talk them down. They seem a little scared, but the preacher riles them up again.
“He is merely trying to trick you with words! That proves he is scared you can hurt him! Go now, just warriors and show your faith through sword.” Okay, fuck this. I am seriously pissed off by now.
I create a spike and throw it right at the preacher’s head with some strength, but not all. ‘Take that, fucker!’ I think as it pierces his grinning face right through the skull.

“Aieee! He killed the priest!” Multiple screams are heard like that one.
This only seems to rile the armed men up further, as they charge in on me. I think they are all ordinary people. They move incredibly slow compared to some of the monsters I encountered at the lower levels. I dodge most of them, and give them a swift punch to their stomachs and disarm them, but my casual demeanor as one of the spearmen manages to make a jab connect at my sides. It doesn’t even penetrate me though. My guess is that those monsters toughened me up much more, by killing me in various ways each day for two years.
He has a look of ecstasy, that fades quickly, as he realizes he has only managed to hurt my sweater and shirt. Shit, the sweater was pretty expensive. I yank his spear, punch his gut… Then I kick him over the shin for good measure.
“Everyone, go the fuck home. Didn’t you do enough today, burning down this place already.” I turn to look at the brothel. Oh shit. The fire appears to have spread to an adjacent building, even when they were separated by a narrow alleyway.
“Shit, look at what you have done! Somebody get water!”
A few people from the crowd run, but most stand still. I hope they have some water nearby.

A lot of new content has been added to the early chapters since the end of May. The first chapters are still under construction and editing, but all the major changes are done. I was a webnovel junkie for a long time, but I found it hard to find novels with solid characters, decent plot, philosophical underpinnings and a fully painted world to keep me going. I've taken from every genre I've liked to make a story that satisfies my own cravings for a good story. If you like the story or have suggestions please leave a comment or review. I hope this novel is fun, provocative but above all fun. Enjoy. Yours truly, James Paul Addington PS I will release at least two chapters a week, or one really long chapter. Concerning the tags: The story is primarily Fantasy with Wuxia influence in some elements. Romance won't happen for the first two arcs or so (roughly 40 chapters), I want to build the world before I do that. Tragedy is because of an event that occurs in the book, not the tone of the book. The book is more lighthearted. Slice of Life doesn't occur till the third arc (the romance happens during that arc as well). Magic will also show up more in later arcs, but appears throughout. Reincarnation it's not a reincarnation like in the traditional sense, but it has a similar concept.

Black Sheep [dropped]
It was bad enough living in a cold mechanical world. It was even worse when he was exiled. Follow the man, marked for his crimes, and damned to eternal torment as he tries to find a place where he can belong. * This is my first work. I've read stories on here for years and was finally inspired to contribute some content. * Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. I think I have a neat idea and could use your help to turn it into a fun read. * The RPG starts on chapter 8 so feel free to skip ahead if that's what you're here for.

Issekai Mockery
The story begins with Alvaro Brad, a genius young man in his teens. Alvaro excels at every subject of his school, chemistry, physics, mathematics and programming are some subjects that he enjoys the most. That seems to be the first impression that people have about him though. Alvaro has another side to him, he is addicted to gambling. Since nothing seems to challenge him anymore, he has taken upon himself to beat luck itself. The only moment he feels any kind of joy is when he takes risks and gambling has given him exactly that. After skipping class to gamble yet again, he sees something on the way to the club. After looking closer he finds a small coin on the ground and as soon as he picks it up he is transported to another world. -Issekai Mockery is exactly as the title suggests, a satire fiction novel making fun of the Issekai genre in subtle and not so subtle ways with the sole purpose of putting a smile on the readers' faces, the novel will feature a lot of Issekai and mmorpg jokes. Don't forget to comment and rate the fiction as I want to listen to some feedback.
