《Yet another ”reincarnated as a monster” story, however, this time, it’s a carnivorous plant》Chapter 36: The Hungry One Appears

The other slimes, noticing the death of their comrade, squirmed and pulsated in anger.
- You have gained 15 Ep and reached Lv.3. -
That was sorta late, did you forget to-,
- No. -
Alright then.
Well, no matter!
The slimes started slowly but surely roll towards us all at once, like a huge tsunami of slime. In preperation of this, i extended a single root and made it branch off into so many smaller roots in a circular pattern that it could touch the edges of the tunnel. I had made a shield, of sorts.
The slimes must have noticed this, and started retreating.
I looked breifly at Hans.
”We follow. Altough we could retreat now, considering the enemy, it would be better to defeat it now instead of allowing it to multiply.”
”Multiply?”
”Yeah, they multiply every now and then. Once a week or so, i think. You leave ’em alone for too long and they become an army. They dont move too quickly though, so while we follow it, ill contact the guild.”
”How?”
”Oh i didnt tell you? Ah, remember the needle thing?”
I looked down at the small pin-head needle made of copper i held in one of my small hands.
”Well, they are more then just cosmetic. I dont have the time to go into it fully, but... It works as a communicator. Just insert a little essence into it and...”
”Bzzzzzzz... Hello? Is there an emergency?”
”Hello, yes, this is Anette Hansdotter.”
”What rank?”
”Demonic Tiger, rank 73.”
”Right. What’s the emergency? Do you have the time to speak?”
”I have the time. Bob, cover me if they attack. Your roots should be able to break through the skin.”
”Yessir!”

”Right. Well, me and my companion Bob, Rank 1, are currently on a quest to defeat slimes. However, the slimes in question have turned out to be both more numerous than expected as well as being not the common Green Slime, but instead the far more potent Light Slime. As so, id like to request reinforcement, hopefully a Dark Mage or a Psychic Mage.”
”Just a second... We dont have an unoccupied Dark Mage at the moment, but ive found a Psychic Mage, rank 46, will that be fine?”
”Thatll be great, thank you.”
”Shell arrive in ten minutes or so. Please survive until then. She will bring a CHC.”
”Ill report on the matter.”
”Please survive-, bzzzzzzzz-”
And so the conversation ended. During her conversation, we had walked quite a fair bit, and we now found ourselves in a rather open area. The slimes scutteling about in front of us had dispersed as they reached this open area and left us to wonder what the hell this place was.
As soon as we reached the center of the room, altough Hans had hesitated to do so, the room lit up in a brilliant array of light. Around us, dussins, if not hundreds, of transparent slimes shone with a warm, scorching light.
Hans brandished her sword and i readied my roots.
Two slimes approached us carefully, but when i stepped towards them with my roots held high, they both retreated.
Instead of a full-frontal attack, a few slimes further back circles around us and defended the exit. Hans clicked her tounge at this.
For a minute or so, silence reigned. Several times, the slimed advanced, only to retreat at the slightest counter.
At one time, a slime had been defeated by our tactic, and so, none even attempted to attack.

Soon, we found out why.
The tunnel which we had used to reach this large room suddently started glowing. The slimes guarding the tunnel seemed to shiver in anticipation.
The light from the tunnel slowly gree brighter and brighter, until it was almost blinding.
Soon we saw what had created the light.
It was a slime, far smaler than any of the others. In fact, it was about twice as small as the smallest of the other slimes, being only barely larger than myself.
However, it shone brighter than any other slime. Its entire body emitted light without even trying too keep it inside of its body like the other slimes did. Instead, this slime looked like an enlarged core. It was entirely spherical and almost rolled on the ground. In fact, it levitated every so slightly. Behind it, i could see a small, white disc floating like a divine halo.
I didnt even have to ask Voice.
