.
Ah.
Mmmmm.
I have been awoken by nothing, once more!
Hahahahaha!
Happily, I let my roots wiggle only to feel nothing. No, not nothing. What I felt was... a slight, tingling pain in some of them.
Hm?
In surprise I tried opening my eyes. Everything was black.
Eh?
I tried listening. I heard nothing.
...Ummmm..
Voice? Did I die again?...
= Nah =
Oh, alri-, wait who in the name of fuck are you
= Don't think about it and just ignore me, I'm not important yet =
L-, like hell you are!
...But I'll obey your words out of fear and not at all out of convenience for the plot. It's not a plot hole if I point it out. (;^))
Ok, so... I'm not dead. Then... what am I?
= Wanna see your stats or something? =
Um yes

Mhm. Mmmmmhm.
Hm.
Pretty strong, eh?
= Pretty strong, right. Pff =
What? Got anything to say?
= No, no, nothing. Nothing at all. =
Hmmm. Thought so...
Well, um, do you work the same way as Voice?
= Voice? That's what you call her? Well, I ain’t' gonna correct ya if she hasn't. But yeah, kinda =
Oh, um, okay, so... What does that star mean?
= Star? Oh, the *? =
Mhm
= It kinda means the Ski-, ehem, “Ability” which it stands beside is in use. =
Oh. So... That “Scent of Love” thing is in use?
= Yupp, and lemmi tell ya, I do recommend turning it off. Well, not turning it off, as that would be impossible, so I'd recommend changing it to Sweet Scent. =
Right. And how does one do that?
= Well, just change the-, what? I'm not? Oh, sorry, one second. =
…
Alright...
= Ok so =
yeah?
= “Fuck off and find out yourself” =
…
= Sorry just go do it yourself according to V-, Voice, im not allowed to tell you what to do. Sorry, pal =
It's fine, it's fine, I'm used to it. So I'll just...
= Try everything. =
Gotcha.
Hmmm. Step one. Figure exactly what I want to do.
I want to stop smelling like... love or something, and start smelling like.. Sweet? Something like that. Uhhhm.
When I regained my sight, all I had to do was regain something I had lost, so although I may have been unused, it wasn't hard to get used to it once more.
However...
Well! Guess I'll just try it!
HHHHNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGG
Hnnnnaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh.
That did not work.
Not at all.
Perheaps I should visualize something?
Using perfume? Changing clothes?...
...I have no clue.
Come on... Voice 2.0, give me a clue or something!
= ...I'll agree if only to let you cease that pathetic display. Ok so... just like... do it. =
Very helpful.
= No like... imagine stuff blossoming on your skin. =
What does that even mean?
= Uhm. Just try it. =
Alright then.
Blossoming, blossoming.
My skin started prickling.
Blossoming, blossoming.
Buds started forming.
Blossoming, blossoming.
And the buds bloomed.

…
Did it work?...
= Yup. =
Whoa.
That's total bull.
= Yeah kinda. =
Hm.
Wait, I still can't see.
My body feels kinda strange, so...
I'd better find out whats going on, I might have been attacked. That dude that saw me was kinda alarming... he might have fetched back-up or something. Hey, Voi-,
= Please stop calling me Voice, and start calling me Pluto. =
Oh, alright then... Pluto. Um. Okay then, Pluto, is my eye alright?
= Yeah, it just hid itself in the ground. =
It can do that?
= Yeah, your body kinda moves of its own when you sleep. =
Huh.
Alright, then I'll just let it slither out of the ground and open it. Easy as pie.
And, just as I had said, my eye easily uncovered itself from the ground. Luckily, it hadn’t hidden itself too deep.
Shaking the last remains of dirt from its little head, the eye opened slowly.
B-, BRIGHHHHTTTTTTTT
It was day, the sun was high in the sky, and the sky was a bright blue. I had never seen anything brighter.
My entire body quivered in pain, but I forced my eye to remain open in spite of the pain.
After a minute or so, I got used to the brightness and was able to look around. In the meantime, I had also allowed my ear to surface, and the results were about the same, except with a ringing instead of a burning.
Looking around, I noticed something curious.
Is that... Is that a tent?...
And... Is that... A human?...

March 16, 2021 - Hiatus note: I will come back to this story! I'm really struggling with it, though. It's been a number of years and I kind of forgot what the original outline was. I still remember the main path, but not any of the details, because I stupidly didn't write an outline. Progress is being made. I'd like a very decent sized buffer before I start posting again. Don't want to get hopes up only to immediately disappoint! ----- Amy Barnes, an aspiring chemical researcher, finds herself dying from cancer. One of her most desperate prayers is answered in a way that she'd never dreamed possible, and she finds herself living a new life as a dungeon. Warning: Violence, morbidity Cover: Taken from here, courtesy of www.pexels.com by photographer @tookapic. Author's Note: I've read some dungeon core stories on here, and they've tickled my fancy. I've thought up a whole story, start to finish, and thought it'd be a blast to put it into words. Other than the violent and morbid aspects, this story is suitable for children. Aside from the vocabulary, that is. I will avoid the temptation to have any cursing, sexuality, or gore. Excessive gore, I suppose - it is a dungeon story, after all. I’ll do a little research from time to time, but this story will not have a great deal of rigor. I’ve made Amy’s knowledge comparable to my own for that reason. There’s a few things she knows more about than I do, and a few things that she knows less about. Unlike me, she doesn’t have access to Google - it’s a non issue for her to be more knowledgeable than me, on occasion :P This story does not use the same magic system that I’ve used in either Sorcery in Boston or A Summoner’s Confession. This one is mostly intention based, and designed to be easier access for people who are more used to the idea of, “It’s magic, therefore it works” kind of thinking. Do note that Amy is, in most senses of the term, overpowered. This goes along with the usual dungeon core stories. She’s not more powerful than other dungeons per se, but she does have knowledge and intelligence that puts them to shame. I thought about doing this in a LitRPG style, but systems take balance, and I wanted this to be pure fun to write. This story was inspired from a few sources. Despite the title, it wasn’t really inspired by Of Mice and Men, though some of the themes match. Rather, I’ve taken inspiration from a few dungeon core novels on Royal Road Legends for the main idea. Many conventions of dungeon core stories have been perverted from the genre, however. I’ve taken my usual science-loving self to town to play around with the powers, and I can only hope you have half as much fun reading this as I have had writing it.

8 119Dream Dungeon
Welcome to the dream dungeon. Ely suddenly finds himself in a mysterious dungeon accessed only through sleeping. Many people are drawn into this dream world, confused and mystified. Those in this dungeon must kill monsters to survive; maybe even each other. Join Ely as he struggles to survive a ruthless environment. What replaces his rest is untold trauma. What seems like an innocent game trope turns into a nightmare. This is a story of tragedy and the path to ultimate power. All in the hopes of an uncertain survival. _________ This fiction has NOT been abandoned. I made a haughty promise earlier to not worry because I'll continue this series, and with things lately, I've only proved myself a liar. Further promises dwindled, and I've lost trust. So many things have been going on recently that I've been booked. I will refrain from making any future guarantees or promises as my busy schedule will stay with me for a long long while. Time for me to actually spend on writing and revising won't appear until at the least November 19. I won't say expect that's when I'll restart, but you can expect expecting it to maybe happen. That's really shallow. But with everything going on, I've let my small reading base down. I apologize. I still stick by my statement though that I won't abandon this project. I plan to stick it to the end, no matter the delay. Most importantly, thank you everyone; readers who both like and dislike my work. I appreciate your time spent on my dumb imagination. Stay toasty my readers in this winter season. Cheers. UPDATE: We're back on track. Thank you for your patience. Any future readers, heyo! Glad you're here. UPDATE 2: So far it's been 21 days since I last uploaded a chapter. The best thing done for any fiction, no matter how good it is, is that it continues, and I have a bad history with that. 1 fiction on hiatus and already more delays with less than 20 chapters in this fiction. I've been very preoccupied with adding more things to do in my life rather than actually committing to any particular thing. That applies primarily to this. I cannot abandon this, as busy as my future looks and will look as I get busier and busier. Someday, I hope, I will be able to sit down and just write. just. write. But for now, I ask for patience. I suppose I'm glad this fiction hasn't picked up so that I don't disappoint too many people if any really. But I need to commit and it's going to happen sometime and sometime soon. No more flowery words. I'll see you later. UPDATE 3: It's very evident I won't be able to pick up this story for a while. With AP Testing, competitions, and other things I am busier than ever. But I must complete this fiction. I have too. Until next time. UPDATE 4: It is now the summer. I owe everyone an apology. Chances are, nobody's around to see this, and that is okay. I only blame myself for this sort of brokenness of a fiction, not that it is actually that bad but I am just exaggerating it for dramatic effect. But what's not exaggerated is the severity of my broken promise. I apologize for my naive claims about finishing a novel that I couldn't finish and that I didn't have the discipline to finish. Nor the skills, really, I was and am still an immature writer. What is to place now? I want to make it clear I understand this is my fault. I will man up to this. And I will accept any criticism. I understand I messed up. Reading Stephen King's On Writing made it clear to me that I need to do two things:Read lots. And write lots.I have done neither. If I don't have the time to read often, how do I expect to write? I need to become more experienced. I need to become a serious writer. So if I want to dream of continuing, I need to at least fulfill both requirements. I enjoy writing. I haven't written seriously outside of school in a while. I planned to write this summer and finish this. I made a lot of promises that I didn't keep.So there's that. I won't enact any self-pity, or be foolishly obsessed. What I did was wrong, and I must deal with it. I let down readers. And I apologize.I hope I can find forgiveness. This is a writer's sin.I won't promise I'll finish this. I intend to finish this, at some point, because writing is fun and I want to write. But how things are don't reflect that. Maybe I'll finish this at some point. Maybe I won't. I won't be naive to make that promise.I thank everyone who has read this if this is the end. If not, and hopefully not, I thank everyone who is to read future chapters. I thank everyone who allowed me to live in the miniscule little dream of mine as I passed my days. I thank everyone who cares enough to read this. Until next time, peace everyone. Thank you. You are all great readers and great people. I wish everyone the best in whatever reading/writing endeavors follow you henceforth.
