《I’m a crazy person who jumped in front of a truck to be reincarnated into another world -on purpose!》Chapter 12: City of Goblins

When the sun finally disappeared beneath the tops of the ancient trees, we managed to find the other group and began to set up camp in a small clearing. Making a bone fire was no issue for people who could create fireballs with magic, so it only took us a few minutes to gather some wood, kill another hapless horned rabbit and begin grilling it on the fire.
It turned around that these rabbits were not only good mobs to hunt for experience, they were also really freaking tasty.
“Oh have you heard? Enri is an M.”, I said jokingly after having taken a sip from the bottle of booze we had taken with us.
Enri threw me a dark look and for a moment it looked like she would kick me, but then she simply blushed. Really, I couldn’t help but thing that she actually enjoyed being teased like this. My inner sadist devil was awakened, and I began to chuckle.
“Tell me something new.”, came the reply from Maira.
“Just tie her up and spank her for a bit and I’m sure she will renounce the gold you owe her.”
That… was actually a very tempting idea!
“Y-you cannot do that!”, said the virgin knight from the sidelines. His expression was once again flushed and he was fumbling around with his piece of the rabbit.
“Pervert.”, said Ilea and grinned at Sir Mellen who was obviously very offended.
“Huge pervert.”, agreed Riina and stuck out her tongue at Sir Mellen.
“Why have I suddenly become a victim???!!!”, the poor guy exclaimed as he realized that he was suddenly bullied by everyone.
“’Cause you are a pervert?”, Enri proposed with a matter-of-fact expression.
“Yep”, everyone agreed.
In this manner we spend a few hours just joking around and picking on the poor virgin knight. During this time we had to catch another three rabbits to fill out stomachs and emptied three or four bottles of strong alcohol.
The result was a veeery relaxed atmosphere and somewhat muddleheaded people. Even Riina who had drunk the least out of all of us was drunk enough to snuggle herself against me and fall asleep while trying to explain to Enri why it is a bad idea to roast living humans on a fire.
Ilea had at some point begun to wrestle with Sir Mellen, whom she for some reason really couldn’t stand and in the chaos of the fight parts of their clothes were ripped open. At some point it really looked more like some sort of mating ritual rather than an actual fight.
The drunken knight didn’t even notice that both he and Ilea were showing more and more skin and was instead focused on fighting back against the muddle headed elvea girl.
Maira was the worst out of the whole bunch, having drowned herself in half the liquor we had brought with us. Completely drunk she had sat down next to me and began to halfheartedly hit her fists against my side.
“Why did yu haf to mak me ya slave? Wu~… I wantat to becum queen somedai! You… yu are a real…aswhole. Why dad yu do dat?”, along the way her pronunciation became more and more of a mess and she was really just slurring the words.
I was also quite drunk which made me a little less reasonable than usual. In other words, I totally enjoyed watching the half-naked Ilea fight the also half naked Sir Mellen. Also, I didn’t mind the request of Enri who had completely lost herself in the fume of alcohol and her weird masochist desires.

As for what she did… I really couldn’t remember.
The only thing I was sure off was seeing her naked and feeling something really soft…
Then there was only darkness.
The next morning was in many ways the most embarrassing ones in our lives. Well, for me it wasn’t that bad. I only had to peel a naked Enri off my chest and cover her up with a blanket. After that I fixed Riina’s clothes which had slipped during her sleep and uncovered her cute flat chest followed by gently putting Maira’s head on the ground. She had at some point fallen asleep on my shoulder.
For me things were not really bad and more of a happy accident. Though I was worrying what had happened between Enri and me…
The pair who were truly dying from embarrassment were Ilea and Sir Mellen. When I found them in the bushes a few meters away from the camp both were completely naked with their clothes having disappeared without a sign. Also, from the signs around them I was pretty sure that they had done the deed together.
You can imagine the sort of reaction they had when they woke up after being shocked by a small bold of lightning. Yep I woke them by creating lighting from magic. It was a spell I had copied from Maira a few days back.
Maira was also quite embarrassed by her behavior when she woke up, even apologizing a few times to me. Honestly it had really just been very amusing, so I told her that it was alright.
Riina had become a little bashful after having slept on my lap for the entire night while Enri…
Yeah… she pretty much gave no more shits about anything. I had to repeatedly tell her to wear some clothes again before she finally complied.
Finally, after over an hour we were ready to go out again.
“Ok, let’s split up again. Same teams as yesterday.”, I said.
Why words were met with complete silence. Most members of our party were too embarrassed to speak at all after what had happened last night.
“I take this as a yes…”, I grinned awkwardly.
Sure, enough we quickly split up into the same groups of three as we had yesterday and wandered off into the forest. Luckily, I had the group members who hadn’t accidentally slept with each other so the atmosphere quickly lightened up and we began to make jokes again.
“Can you even remember what happened yesterday?”, I asked Enri after killing the first small group of goblins which we encountered about half an hour after leaving the camp.
“Sure, I stripped myself naked and you whipped me with a stick for half the night.”
I blinked twice. This… I really couldn’t remember anything like this happening. C-could I have really forgotten about such a thing?
“R-really?”, I couldn’t quite believe it.
Enri began to grin.
“Of course, not you idiot. I also cannot remember a thing about last night. We should do the whipping though…”, I could tell that the meant the last part completely serious.
“I…will consider it… as a reward for you…”, the struggle to keep a calm voice was real.
The suddenly smiled.
“Great!”
I couldn’t help but shake my head.
Riina who was walking along me tagged on my shirt.
“So you like this sort of things?”, her innocent eyes felt like they were purifying my disturbed self.

“K-kinda…”, I couldn’t lie. A little bit of BDSM has never hurt anybody…
Unless they go into the fucked-up depths of it. I instantly had flashbacks to porn I had accidentally seen during my innocent-clueless days. The horror made me shake.
Riina thought a little.
“I don’t like being hurt… So, master, if you want to do these things please use Enri!”, she smiled brightly. It was obviously a joke but…
This girl… I think we might be a bad influence on her.
While we were joking around, we suddenly stumbled across a large clearing. The trees disappeared and were replaced by…fields?! Even more shockingly a small village surrounded by wooden palisades had been constructed at the center of the clearing. Small watchtowers lined the walls and I could spot a few green beings serving as sentinels.
“These are… goblins?”, I couldn’t quite believe it. Goblins were supposed to be very primitive beings that were incapable of farming or building anything more complicated than a shag. But this village looked just like a human one!
Shouts in the weird and unfamiliar language of the goblins resounded and dozens of goblins dressed in the clothes of farmers fled the fields around the village and ran towards the village. A simple gate opened, and they quickly entered the guarded village. Simultaneously over 50 goblins armed with bows and clad in relatively good armor appeared on the walls and pointed their arrows at us.
It was really quiet an inspiring sight you would expect from a real human city and not from a small goblin village in the depts of a forest.
“This should be impossible.”, mumbled Riina who had already hid herself behind Enri. The dragon girl was also shocked and had grabbed her sword ready to engage.
“What do you want?”, suddenly a voice came from the palisade and a tall hobgoblin arrived at the front of the archers. His pronunciation was a little weird, but he undoubtedly spoke in the human language.
A weird thought appeared in my mind and quickly began to become more and more plausible.
“You are also from another world?”, I asked the weird hobgoblin and a gleam shone in my eyes.
He looked surprised for a moment, then he too looked at me with shining eyes.
“Yes I am. So, you are the hero of the Haelia kingdom…”, he thought for a moment.
“Do we have to fight?”
I grinned. As I thought, he too was a person who had come her from another world. He too had been reincarnated into this world of magic and monsters. It was only natural. If the humans had their heroes and gods why shouldn’t the goblins have theirs?
“Of course, not. I am more than thrilled to finally meet someone from ‘that’ place.”, I had no intention to fight someone who came from my world and was not yet an enemy. In the first place, allies were something I needed more than some levels.
The hobgoblin eyed me for some time before finally nodding. He said something to the goblins and turned back to us.
“Welcome to Shri-M’Gan. Capital of the goblin kingdom.”, a confident expression appeared on his face and I could see the pride in his eyes.
I glanced over to Riina and Enri and we slowly walked towards the small village.
“Don’t cause any trouble. In case they attack we flee immediately!”, I whispered to the two girls. They silently nodded. Then we stepped through the gate and entered the village.
As I thought it really looked like a normal human village, with the difference that the buildings were smaller and there were goblins instead of humans. Hostile glares were given to us as the female goblins quickly took their children and hid in the houses.
Meanwhile the hobgoblin from before arrived with a small guard of about ten heavily armored goblins. I had no idea where they had acquired the armor, but it was better than the one I had seen on the regular guards of the capital.
“Once again, Welcome to my capital. My name is R’gis, I am the king of these goblins and a hero like you are.”, the hobgoblin introduced himself to me.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Chris. Hero of the Kingdom of Haelia.”, I replied with a smile and shook his hand.
Meanwhile Riina and Enri threw me astonished looks.
“Wait… you are called Chris?”, Enri asked me with wide eyes.
“…yes?”, I couldn’t understand their weird reactions.
“Y-you never told us your name…”, Riina explained with similarly surprised eyes.
…
They are right…
I have been in this world for over a week and yet I had not even once told anyone my name…
“This…”, I couldn’t help but shake my head and grin.
R’gis gave me a weird look as he didn’t understand what we were talking about.
“Ah sorry. I just realized that until now nobody in this world knew what I was called.”
He gave me an even weirder look.
“That’s… how the heck does something like this even happen?”
I shrugged. “I forgot to mention it.”
“Well… I guess that happens.”, he also began to grin.
“How about I show you the village?”, it seems like he really wanted to brag with what he had built.
It’s not like I couldn’t understand. Having achieved something like this with mere goblins was more than just impressive! Even more importantly I was probably the first visitor to this village so the wish to show me all of this was only natural.
“Sure, I am really curious how much you were able to do!”
With this R’gis began to lead us around and show us the different buildings and most importantly public infrastructure he had created. The whole village was composed of over a hundred buildings with almost three hundred goblins living within it. He showed us a school for the children, a hospital he had constructed and the sort of medicine he was able to create from the herbs in the surrounding forests and the large warehouse which stored food for multiple months.
“Having the fields has enabled us to feed far more mouths than before. A year ago, when I had just arrived here, we had only been a small tribe of thirty goblins, but now we are already at the size of three hundred members. Next year we might have the numbers to create a second city!”, R’gis proudly explained.
So, he had been here for one year. It seemed like there was no set time for heroes to appear in this world after all.

Re: Dragonize
After an unexpected turn of events, Drew must now survive in a world full of challenges with life-or-death stakes. Gone are the days when the biggest problems to face were awkward small-talk at physics department luncheons or mountains of lab work; this former physicist is now adrift in an unfamiliar land without any equipment. Now, Drew's only tool (if it can be called that) is a System, which provides constant reminders of all of the things that are still out of reach for a low-level being who's just arrived in a new world. Luckily, Drew has one powerful asset when taking on the challenges of this new world: surviving violent conflict is a lot easier when you have the power of a dragon at your disposal. Still, Drew has always considered violence a last resort. Why turn to fists (or claws) when a bit of quiet consideration might expose a better path forward? Maybe a life of quiet contemplation is still within reach for this former academic researcher. ...Or maybe not. It probably won't be a life of bloodless pacifism. Additional information for those who wish to calibrate their expectations (I'm adding this based on a few comments I received from readers who feel that the story is not what they expected from a dragon-themed story): Re: Dragonize is not a power fantasy -- or at least, it's not intended to be one. Re: Dragonize is a progression fantasy starting with a protagonist who must start at the bottom (or close to it), and work gradually upwards, making incremental progress with plenty of setbacks along the way. The protagonist, as someone coming from the world of academia, tends to be cautious, methodical, and contemplative. As such, expect this story to contain more than a few digressions as the main character takes the time to pontificate on a variety of topics ranging from Newtonian physics and horology to the nature of existence and the ethical dilemmas associated with being an obligate carnivore.
