《Second Chance》A Trial(5)

Relief ran through my body like a bolt of lightning. Her brown eyes quivered and her mouth shook.
"What happened..."She looked around the cave; the shock was splattered all over her face.
"How did I end up here. What's going on Jaso?"She tried to stand up but stumbled down; quickly I stood up and grabbed her before she fell. She was shivering and her body felt cold. Her dry pale lips were flaking as she strugglingly breathed.
"Calm down, you're injured. You don't remember fighting against the two goblins and collapsing. By extreme luck, you survived."I carefully laid her down. She looked into the rocky jagged ceiling-absentmindedly. Her face squinted as she looked back at me; her eyes were full of fear. I quickly took out some bread and water from my inventory.
"drink some water and chew on this bread"The bottle was shaking as she brought it up to her mouth.
"It's okay. I killed them don't worry"I reassured her, trying to get rid of her fears. Eventually, I told her to not worry and have a nap after drinking some more water.
The bright morning sun came upbringing with it a warm humid breeze. I stood sentinel outside the entrance, thinking about what I had to do now. First I opened my status

I thought about spending my ability point but I didn't know what to put it in so I decided to save it.

Trial of God-Kill 100 goblins, kill 3 goblin chieftains and kill 1 venerable chieftain [Reward] 2 elixirs, 1 random skill (Rare Guaranteed),1 skill upgrade card and 100 gold.
[To Proceed Choose a Quest]
I didn't know whether it was bad luck or not but the first one was locked.
Trial of God seemed to be the most difficult one,100 goblins didn’t sound bad however I didn't know what a chieftain or a venerable chieftain was. So I decided to go for the easiest and least dangerous choice.
*I choose Trial of Heaven*
[The User may change their choice in the future, however they may only change it once]
Now that I knew what I had to do, I decided to first go and get some food. After about half an hour of walking, I came across my lucky hunting spot. Sadly, I didn't see any Goldhorns but there was something that looked identical to a rabbit eating some reeds near the river. I slowly sneaked up to it and quickly slashed at it, ending its life in one go. It was a rabbit. I was surprised, So far I had only found creatures that were only written in stories, creatures which could breathe fire and were as big as me. I placed this thought into the back of my head and made my way back to the cave.

"Silva, I'm back. Are you feeling better?"I opened the entrance and saw Silva stretching.
"Your back already? Yeah, I'm feeling a lot better than last night."She finished up her stretches and laid on the ground, breathing at regular intervals.
"I'll be going back out soon. I just chose my quest. I chose the second one. What about you"I took the rabbit out of my inventory and started to roughly butcher it. Silva looked at me in shock.
"Why wouldn't you choose the easiest one? you crazy sonovabitch. What am I gonna do if you die!"She came around the campfire and lit it for me.
"Thanks. But look, it was the only one I could choose other than the hardest one. My aptitude was too high or something like that. AHH yeahh I have another question. What did you put your skill point into?"When I finished my sentence her mouth had ended up turning into a large hole.
"Y-you have an APTITUDE OF ABOVE 50%!! AND YOUR LEVEL 1 !" her face turned a gasp as she slowly lifted her arm to point at me. I looked at her confused, was it that rare and hard to have an aptitude of above 50% while being level 1?
"Is that not normal? What is aptitude anyways and why aren't you level 1 yet"I asked while putting the skewered rabbit onto the fire.
"Aptitude is the level at which you suit your class. So to get an aptitude of above 50% You have to be a veteran warrior. Not a soldier BUT A WARRIOR. And also I've only ever killed 1 goblin so ill only be at level 1. But you somehow killed 3 without having any apparent knowledge on how to use your weapon"She ground her teeth; she was clearly jealous. this back forth continued for about an hour until the meat was cooked. It melted in my mouth. It tasted different from the rabbit I used to eat in my other life.

Delicate as Glass
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Nuri, an [Assistant Glassworker], only has a single Skill. It’s really not fair. He’s worked in the hot shop his entire life, following in his father’s footsteps after his parents passed away, but he’s stuck. Despite possessing above-average talent as an artisan, he still hasn’t shed his [Assistant] status, gained a second Skill, or even leveled enough to reach the first Threshold. Besides, he’s bored; most days he daydreams of adventure and becoming a hero, or pines for the renown that’s sure to be his if he evolves his Class into a [Master Glass Smith], but nothing ever changes—until suddenly, fate strikes, and nothing is ever the same again. These days, Nuri sees more magic, prestige, and adventure than he can handle as he gets swept up in realm-shaking conspiracies and desperate fights for his life. Maybe a boring life wasn’t so bad after all. Disclaimers: 1) Names were mostly chosen through random generators and aren’t necessarily final. If they seem derivative or boring, blame RNG. 2) Skills, Classes, levels, and the entire system is currently a work in progress; please be kind if it’s not very well fleshed out yet. 3) This is the first full-length novel I've set out to write without a single plot point ready. I had nothing in mind other than a recent visit to a hot shop. Molten glass is pretty awesome. 4) Related, I know much less about glass than I’d like. I did some research, but mistakes are bound to happen. If you have a correction, thanks! Please be polite about it. 5) The prose is my experimental attempt at first-person, present tense. I realize it may not be everyone’s preference, but I hope you’ll give it a try anyway!
