《The Tower Must Fall - Combat Gardener》73. New Rules

Half-conscious, Rowan’s head lulled on the wall behind him, eyes tracking in Jeff’s general direction. Ikara sat in the water, head bowed, her tangled red-tipped ponytails almost dipping into the puddle. Kaidu tried to kill Jeff with his eyes alone, upright and immobilized behind the man.
“That Binding Mark? I say the word, and you’ll be in more daggum pain than you’ve felt in your short, pitiful lives. I hold it long enough, you’ll pass out. And that’s where things get interestin’.”
Jeff strode across the street, careless of the knee-high water. “You kids’re gonna go out there and earn some points to make up for the zero you’ve got now, and you’re gonna come back and hand ‘em over to Uncle Jeff. If’n’s I’m feelin’ charitable, or you done collected more than a hundred points, I might leave ya with enough to make it through the night. If ya don’t hand ‘em over, that’s where the Binding Mark comes in. If ya try’n run, that’s what the Tracking Mark’s for. Got it?”
He gazed around the trio, waiting for something. Proud, Kaidu refused to acknowledge him. Rowan stared blankly, fighting to stay conscious. At last, Ikara nodded, just an inch.
Satisfied, Jeff nodded. “Some motivation for y’all—you collect enough points that I’ve got a thousand, me’n the crew’ll poof on out of here. The marks’ll fade within the week, not that I’d be able to control ‘em from outside the Tower. Ya might not have the best chance of makin’ it at that point, but you’ll have a better chance than ya will with Uncle Jeff hooverin’ up yer points.”
Kaidu spat.
Slowly, Jeff turned back to face the finger he still kept trained on Kaidu. “You got a problem, son?”
“Lowlife scum,” Kaidu bit.

Jeff chuckled, not the least insulted. “And when I make it outta this Tower and you’re stuck here on the second floor, think where that leaves you.”
“Wait, that kid… I recognize him,” Marlene said. She moved closer, tilting her head. “Isn’t that N. Kaidu? The Hairdresser, the famous one.”
“Famous? You’re telling me we’re in the presence of celebrity?” Jeff asked, eyes wide with mock-amazement.
Kaidu lifted a lip, disgusted.
“Not only that. Rumor says he’s Satoru Mizue’s kid. Think of the money, if we brought him out with us,” Marlene said, eyes glimmering.
“You wanna fuck with the number-one Swordsman in the whole damn world? I love you, Marlene, but sometimes I wonder if your head’s screwed on right,” Jeff sighed, shaking his head.
“He wouldn’t pay a penny for me, anyways,” Kaidu snarled.
Jeff ignored him, speaking only to Marlene. “No, listen. We keep this small. We make it to the third floor, get our proper crew back together, and we’ll be rolling in it anyways. That’s the goal, Marlene. Keep the goal in your sights.”
“Still think it’s worth a try,” Marlene muttered.
“Now, is everyone clear on the rules? And you, boy, if I let you go, will you be bright enough not to try’n pull a fast one?” He glanced at Kaidu.
Kaidu glared back, silent.
“Looks like a ‘no’ to me, boss,” Amy opined.
“Stop the burning! It burns,” Jacob cried, rubbing his arms.
“Quit yer whining, boy.” Jeff backed away from Kaidu. “Alright, son, I’m going to let you go. If you so much as make a false move, Amy here is going to give you the washing machine treatment, understand?”
Kaidu continued to stare, motionless.
“Alright. Amy?”

She nodded.
“Here goes.” Jeff dropped his hand.
Kaidu lunged. Instantly, a wave of water rose up before him. Before it could smash down on him, Kaidu dove through it. He burst out the other side, water spraying all around him, razor aimed at Jeff’s throat.
Marlene vanished and reappeared behind him. Her hand closed around his jacket and pulled him short.
Kaidu shed the jacket. Too slow. Jeff’s hand popped up again, finger trained on Kaidu. Frozen mid-attack, one leg up, arm outstretched, Kaidu slammed into the water.
Marlene delivered a short blow to the back of his neck. Kaidu’s eyes shut, and Jeff lowered his finger, allowing Kaidu to fall limp into the water, ponytail billowing out across the water’s surface.
Rowan sat up, reaching for Kaidu. He’s going to drown! The world shuddered violently. Pain slammed into his forehead, through to the back of his head. He fell back down, eyes squeezed shut against the spinning.
“Kaidu!” Ikara crawled to Kaidu and drew him up into her arms. She glared fiercely at Jeff, but her glare came off cute, not murderous, like Kaidu’s.
Jeff snorted. “Good luck, kids. Fetch me those points. Remember, the faster Uncle Jeff hits one-kay, the faster you get out of this shit deal, alright?”
He tipped his head. The others gathered around, Jacob still rubbing at his arms, and they vanished around the corner, deeper into the city.

MIRACLE CHILD: SLASH THE GODS [DxD UNIVERSE] . (MATURE CONTENT)
A world where all myth clash. Three great factions vying for supremacy. A multitude of power eyeing them from the shadow. In this world, à child was born. One so rare that his kind was basically unseen. Bestowed with a name synonymous with death, known as the uncrowned king of the church, what kind of storm will this child bring? Follow our hero as he visits the world and brings change to the society. Disclaimer: The DxD franchise does not belong to me. I am just a fan trying to bring an alternative story to a novel I like. The cover picture doesn't belong to me either. Note: This story will be mainly in the Slashdog part which is part of the DxD universe but set 4 four years prior to the event of DxD. Also, DxD is a light novel with 25 volumes + side volumes and a sequel with already 3 volumes called Shin Highschool DxD. Only the first ten volumes and some side stories have been adapted in Anime. As such many terms and characters, I use may be unknown. But don't worry I will do my best so that everyone can follow. NOTE 2: I AM currently writing another fanfic called THE TRIALS: PATH TOWARD GODHOOD. Try it. The mc is different in personality but I hope you'll like it nonetheless.

Medieval Terror
[Trickle! Trickle!] Blood… Pure unfiltered blood. Thick wetness of inhumane variety was drowning the contours of my defiled countenance with crimson slick. My warrior’s mien was brutally decorated with the vile viscera and entrails of the dead. Scattered all around me was a large pile of corpses floating in the bloodthirsty puddle of the afterlife. Accompanying my rest within this detestable domain was a rapacious array of lord Beelzebub’s kin. A swarm of black motile embodiment capable of aerial drifts made my bloody appearance barely visible. [Buzz! Buzz!] I was dead yet living, I could travel between the broken realms of existence and meddle with the vengeful souls. Such was possible by virtue of my life that had succumbed to the Lure of Enigma. The bizarre events that unfolded which brought me to this destitute phase of utter dysphoria was a mixture of tales that will leave a distasteful flavour of doleful buds on your tongue. If you wish to know more about my apocalyptic journey then feel free to turn the pages of my undying path. However, I must warn you, inquisitive readers. My legendary tale might cause your weak constitution to become cripple, hence read at your own peril. Traveleyan
Traveleya (more often referred to by her accomplice as "Miss Cleyne"), is an otherwise plain and ordinary twenty-seven year old woman in every aspect save one: she can see things that others can't, a skill that makes her an invaluable asset to one Millenia Eizenstrauss, a young necromancer with whom she works alongside unofficially. After taking on a particularly lucrative side-job as a courier for Lady Eizenstrauss, she is unwittingly (and often unwillingly) dragged into the strange noble-woman's odd occupation and becomes as essential to her work as Lady Eizenstrauss herself. Together the two make a potent team in solving supernatural cases that plague the haunted countrysides and decadent cityscapes of Svietsylvania, all with the help of Einen, the ghostly spirit of Millenia's departed brother who is bound to his sister's service.

Intercessor
"In my defense, I hadn't actually been trying to get hit by a truck." Artemis wakes up alone in a giant futuristic facility with no hint of where she is, how she got here, or what this means. Yet within two weeks, she is shot at with all the guns, a voice is beginning to speak in her head, and she is tormented by a seemingly sentient and possibly trollish space Roomba. Her only hope is Scarlet, another girl who is a complete stranger and almost shot her in the head. Oh, and she has fox ears and a tail. That is possibly worth mentioning. Artemis is not a nerd. She has never heard of the isekai genre, she can't fight worth a damn, and the blue-collar skills she learned at her community college are absolutely useless in a universe where technology is often indistinguishable from magic. She only has one thing going for her: A mysterious ability to interface with highly advanced technology left behind by the Antecessors, the long lost precursor civilization with technology that no one has been able to adequately replicate. Finding herself in a universe where civilizations are locked in an interstellar Cold War, where societies are so stratified that the aristocracy commands fleets of starships while slaves wash clothes with their hands, Artemis decides to run away from it all. She has a ship. She'll find a crew. She'll find a way to make a living at the fringes of civilization, learn how to cope with danger, and survive the affections of a universe where everyone is a cute girl with animal ears and tails. Title Pending Adventures of Jackson and Barbara in another world!
Jackson Ripper is transported with his class to another world. As one would expect, they are asked to fight in a pending war, much to Jackson's distain. But, a month after arriving he is separated from the rest of his classmates and loses an arm and a leg. Worse yet, the person who mutilated him clings to his side. Now, he begins travelling with this walking natural disaster in a strange new world. Author notes: This is a story I started writing roughly two years ago (roughly 2017) on a whim and started using it to improve my writing skills. As such, it's mostly wish fulfillment based loosely on anime, light/web novels and comics. But wait, why post my strange, gruesome dream world on the internet? Because, I have a goal of one day writing something worth publishing. But to reach that goal, I need criticism, suggestion and advice. Plus it feels like a waste to keep this beauty all to myself. I currently plan to release one chapter a week, on Saturday afternoon or evening.
