《Adventures of a young Zuma》Volume 2- CHAPTER 9

After a good night’s sleep, I was well rested & excited to make a tour around the city. But, I don’t know anything about this place. Sure I could see around myself but I like the company of others when visiting new places. So I was waiting for others in the lounge to ask if somebody wanted to tag in. I had some work to do as I needed some help of what to do with my share I received. I also needed to buy some good armour; weapons for me. I needed someone with experience who could show me how to approach this problem. I was also thinking about telling Marion about my unfortunate incident with that Aniya monster. Maybe ask her to do a medical check up on me & probably ask her if there was any way to lift my curse. It’s pretty disturbing knowing that you are cursed from a whim of a monster.

When everyone gathered, I asked if anyone wanted to come with me. Well not Aby, because she will nag me all day & I will not complete any of my objectives & I know Wei would have no interest, so I asked the rest of the group. Javel said he wanted to sleep all day & he has to wait if any news comes regarding the tablet. Paleg had plans already. He wanted to go fishing, alone. That leaves Marion & Ron, they agreed as they also had work in the city & also Marion promised me yesterday that she will come with me. After arranging our gear we went off.

The city streets were a very busy place, many people of different clans gathered together creating an atmosphere that mesmerized me. There were many shops of different kinds for different purposes. Ron & Marion like me also wanted to sell their share of the loot. To sell unknown items it had to be first identified & checked for their values then after getting an authentic stamp it can be sold in the market. The market prices vary so one can compare the price estimated in the authentic stamp with the market price to get the best value.

Ron explained this to me. Its helps me to get an understanding about certain things. But where do we go to identify or get the authentic stamp??Pondering about this question we stopped in front of a medium sized shop. It was named “EVALUATION CENTER”. Ron told me that here we will get our things identified & get our authentic stamps. There are many shops like this in the entire Zoit continent except in Zuma & why was that???We went inside the shop. It was not filled with people so the line was short. There was two counter. One was for Identification & the other when identified people can get their authentic stamps from there.

Soon our turn came; Ron was first, after Marion, then me. Both of them had some bright small stones & rings. A brownish scrawny looking man was testing them over the counter. He was pretty old. He had beady hazel eyes with a mustache over his long extended lips. By the way he was examining the items it was comical, I had to control myself so that I do not to laugh. I felt Marion’s elbow hit me in my stomach. I looked & apparently she was trying hard to control herself too. After Ron & Marion’s turn my turn came. I took out the rings & the pouch which was filled with bright stones. I passed them to get it checked. Carefully examining everything he wrote something on a piece of paper & handed it to me, then placed the items on a tray with a number & passed them to the next counter. I took the paper & again stood in line behind Marion. Now this counter had a beautiful girl manning it. She was also brown in colour with dark bordering with hazel eyes, most probably the owners daughter. She was quiet young, maybe some years older than me. My turn came; she didn’t even look at me, just signaled for the paper. I handed her the paper, she looked through the tray then pressed the paper on a brown crystal. It glowed for a second, and then she placed the crystal in front of me signalling to place my right hand on it. I placed it & it also glowed. She took back the crystal & returned me the items. I got out of the line quiet dumbfounded...where is the authentic stamp???I was pondering on it when a notice came.

NOTICE:-

EVALUATION CENTER AUTHENTICATION SUCCESSFUL (AN- 50269 C)

ITEMS:-

• GOLD RING WITH RUBY EMBEDDED (2 MM, DATED- ANCIENT) - ID 5023.

• GOLD RING WITH SYMBOL INSCRIBED (DATED- ANCIENT) -ID 5024.

• RED GARNET (3- 3.5 MM) –ID 5025.

ESTIMATED PRICES OF ITEMS:-

• ID 5023 (1 PC) – >=50,000 G.

• ID 5024 (1 PC) - >=35,000 G.

• ID 5025 (10 PC) – 1 PC - >=250 G.

WOW....That’s a lot of gold. After checking it, I went to Ron & Marion. They asked me if I wanted to sell them. I asked them how the authentication stamp worked. Ron said, when I would show the shopkeeper the item to sell, he will ask the AN number & the ID number of the item to be sold. He will check it himself but he can only see that the item has been authenticated not the estimated price. It’s for the owners only. After changing ownership the price will adjust itself to the selling price. So the new owner will not know the price known to the previous owner. Both of them wanted to sell some stones in the market & store the rest in the Bank. I decided to sell the garnets & store the rest.

I earned a nifty little profit selling all the garnets to the amount of 3000 gold in total.All thanks to Marion, with her sweet smile & warm aura she was a force to reckon with while haggling with the shop keepers. They never stood a chance.

Now, I asked them if they could accompany me to the weapons shop & help me out which they readily agreed. After trying several places I found a pair of short curved swords perfect for dual wielding. It had a good durability & damage grade. I also bought a strong leather armour light enough not to impede my speed & also had good defence grade, also bought a pair of boots to increase my agility & balance. All of this cost me a total of 1100 gold.

We went to the bank after Ron & Marion bought weapons, armours, books & many pairs of jeweleries. I asked for whom they were for. She replied that some of them were for Aby & Wei. It shocked me a in a great way, I could understand Aby wearing them...to an extent but WEI????How is that possible???

Marion: “Le’On...why didn’t you ask Aby to come with you today? I think she would have agreed if you stressed a little bit.”

Me: “If she came with me...she would have nagged me & repeating ‘BOY’ the whole day. I couldn’t have finished my work.”

Marion: “You sure about that!?”

Me: “Yes...” I think....most probably....

We deposited whatever amount was left with us & the items. I decided to deposit the two rings & some 1500 gold, keeping 400 gold to myself.

We came back to the Council Inn concluding our work for the day, thus ending one of our few rest days.

Back in my room, I checked my physical, weapons & armour attributes before unequipped them.
