Chapter 11: Void Specialist
Windle left to go to the Emerald Pavilion and Teo started heading to his work place
He walked slowly as if he was in deep thought, he could not see the gazes of some people who recognized him. Some looking at him with pity, some filled with joy and mockery, but all of that was completely ignored.
He was conversing with the old man Cien mentally so he was concentrating on the discussion at hand
"Tell me what you tried to listen for when you were doing that exercise earlier"
"Well I was listening for a pulse, at first I could hear my heart beating then I heard another pulse thats probably yours. Then I concentrated for the rest of the time but couldn't hear anything"
As Cien heard this, he tried to analyze the situation. Indeed, Teo would hear two pulses because he attached himself onto Teo but it shouldn't affect it too much.
Cien's eyes flashed
Teo suddenly felt as if someone was looking into his entire body. It was an uncomfortable feeling as if a slimy substance was crawling through his body bit by bit. Teo suddenly stopped walking and shivered
"What is happening?" Teo mentally asked
"Nothing much, just bare with it for a while" Cien replied
After the feeling subsided, Teo continued walking
"Its strange, your constitution isn't bad at all, your sensory organs are pretty good too so your perception should be pretty high. With all of that you should be able to sense something right away if you concentrated hard enough"
Then a thought suddenly occurred to Cien
"Kid! which stone did you use today?"
Teo suddenly opened up his bag and reached out looking for the stone. He pulls out a transparent elemental stone "This is the one"
When Cien saw this his face twitched a bit
"You use this stone and was trying to listen to its pulse? Do you even know what the elemental pulses suppose to feel like?"
Cien was irritated because the stone that Teo pulled out was a void stone.

The void element was a very mysterious element that was rarely obtained by elementalists. Only pure generalists usually obtain it as an elemental attribute but there was one occurrence that a specialist obtained it hundreds of thousands of years ago.
That specialists became famous as he had full understanding of the void, even the strongest cultivators and elementalists could only give him respect. His understanding of the void element's ability to distort space allowed him to design the procedure to create 'space jewelry'. It was a type of jewelry that distorted space and created a pocket of space. The process of creation of such jewelry was complex, but once he revealed his process to the world, it was used by only the most talented pure generalists.
By being able to create such jewelry, one would never have to worry about money at all, but there was down side to all of this. With such a precious skill, if one did not have enough power and luck, they were bound to be abused. Some of them were invited as respected members with high positions, while others were abducted and tortured, some had their families and friends taken as hostages, just to force them to create such jewelry.
Pure generalists were rare enough as it is, but finding a talented pure generalist that could create such things was like finding a specific blade of grass across 3 empires. People coveted them to the point that they would resort to anything to obtain them.
Eventually, the great powers across the lands ended up taking the same decision. Since the rarity of such figures that could create this space jewelry was so exceedingly rare, they planned to share such a figure. They would not mistreat them, and even buy the jewelry at such exorbitant price that only they could afford it, as long as they all have equal access to them.
Other great powers that did not form such treaty only ended up with war and eventually the pure generalists that they fought over would somehow be accidentally killed. The weaker faction would end up killing the pure generalists because they had no other hope to obtain such figure. 'If we can't have him, no one can'

Such was the result of one specialist with a void attribute hundreds of thousands of years ago, but that was not his only accomplishments. He traveled across the globe setting down array formations used for teleportation. People wanted to stop him or even capture him but with his power of the void, no being could catch him. Eventually he disappeared off the face of the earth, and after only a few hundreds of years since his disappearance his teleportation array formations were destroyed, eroded by time or by human hands.
....
After recalling such a figure, Cien continued "I don't know what kind of idiot tries to listen to his heartbeat while trying to listen to the pulse of a void stone. I can't believe an idiot like you passed my test"
"When you are listening for the void pulse, you must block out everything and concentrate. Don't let your mind wander around. The void elemental pulse is the hardest to sense because its very minute"
"You should start with a different element, if you have felt the heat for fire, you should be able to feel its pulse. Similarly for other elements, try to surround yourself with the element you are trying to sense and you should be able to sense them. After you sense them, then you will never forget the process of feeling them. Since that's all I'm going to sleep, don't disturb me for a while"
Teo listened to old man Cien, but decided to keep using the void stone. He grew a stubborn personality, never wanting to give up on something he could not learn. This made him the perfect student for Ms Dina's class.
....
Teo arrived at the restaurant
He entered from the back where only employees could use.
"Hey little celebrity, I've been hearing about you since yesterday" A loud firm female voice rang out.
Teo turned to the source of the voice. A figure had long black hair that was tied with one big ribbon at the ends, tanned complexion, brown eyes underneath a pair of glasses. It was his coworker and senior, Gina
"Senior Gina"
"I told you not to be so formal, you can call me Sister instead"
"Senior Sister Gina"
"... Oh well I guess that can work"
Gina was a 7th year senior who was quite friendly with Teo. Gina was the main reason Teo got hired to this restaurant that was fairly close to the library. She had a very outspoken character, not afraid to tell it how it is.
"Come its very busy tonight, and Tony can't be here tonight so you have to help out at the back"
Teo's job ranged from helping out in the kitchen to cleaning tables, getting orders, running errands and bringing ingredients to the restaurant. The restaurant was quite large, and was often busy, but tonight it was packed. The restaurant also had a long bar and served alcohol so it was often rowdy as well.
....
As Teo was working in the kitchen, a group of people were talking to each other
"That kid is so arrogant, ignoring us today" a blonde young man said
"We should go teach him a lesson" another young man with brown hair said
This group was exactly Zachery's group of arrogant elementalists
"Leave him, he'll just dirty our hands" Zachery stated indifferently
....
Within the kitchen
"Teo can you bring these over to table 13" Gina asked Teo
Teo grabbed 2 plates of food and went out of the kitchen.
As he was heading to table 13, he suddenly felt his foot being blocked causing him to fall.
The dishes landed to a bunch of people within a table.
Teo looked at his food and saw leg sticking out. He looked at the figure and saw Kristofer's leg sticking out with a huge smile on his face. The others within the same table were smiling, and even Erin the blonde young woman laughed.
Teo understood that he was tripped by Kristofer

A System Apocalypse Fan Fiction I started reading Litrpg about two years ago. I fell in love with Tao Wong's System Apocalypse series. He is an excellent writer and I loved his world building, but when the second series arc went elsewhere It kind of lost me a little. I wanted to create a little parallel world that was very familiar to his fans but skewed off in a different, darker direction. If you haven't read Tao's work, you're missing out! Look him up on Amazon and read The System Apocalypse. One of the best in the genre.
