《Grand Magus》Chapter 66 Ruin (3)

According to the books Fraser scanned, this was the case for the ancient Magi.

They build teleportation platforms that were lucrative and at the same time spanned across the entire civilization.

Even the howling abyss academy couldn’t make a lucrative teleportation platform and one of the free lectures even revolved around the topic of dreaming how the howling abyss academy would be able to create one lucrative teleportation platform between two positions.

This would mean that the force of the howling academy at that time, would be huge.

‘So nothing remains of this ancient Magi civilization except a couple of ruins? I wonder whether the howling abyss and the rest of the Magi of today are offspring of that civilization.’

While Fraser continued to ponder about the grand ancient Magi civilization and how it perished, his workers slowly but steadily explored the tower ruin.

Surprisingly, one of the workers found a book at one of the dorms.

It was sealed in the same leather as the books in the library and apparently it once had a spirit lock, similar to a lock with the corresponding key being the user's spirit.

However, time has shown its effect and the lock easily crumbled before Fraser’s eyes.

Day 1

My name is Greem. I am someone who is on the journey to become a Magi. This is going to be my diary as the spirit lock seemed interesting and it was a free goodie from one of the professors.

Day 236

I am finally a Level 2 Acolyte, meaning that I am finally eligible to use the Pathfinder to find a path. I have heard from my fellow acolytes that often times it would chose a path that is suited to you in that single moment. Though there are some cases where the spirit attribute is clashing with the future path, in most cases the attribute of the spirit is a good thing.

Nevertheless, I am excited as if everything is going to be okay and I am going to survive the test, I am going to be a Rank 1 Magi.

Day X

The Pathfinder was successful and I mastered the test. Thus, at this moment I am a Rank 1 Magi. I would never think that Elementization was the path that I should follow. My spirit has another attribute, that of fire. It increases the lethality of my fire spell models as well as the spirit cost.

Truly something useful. I would never think that simply by using the Pathfinder, I would advance to Rank 1 Magi.

Day after X

As this Diary has followed me through my acolyte years, it is time to move on to another diary. For any fellow who is lucky enough to read this diary, the method of the Pathfinder is rather simple. Yet it has its dangers. For one, it will transport the spirit to the chosen plane where your spirit will be baptized. Meaning, when you die on the plane, you will die here as well. The advice of being careful of your life and not taking it on the light shoulder should be enough. The following is the ritual of the Pathfinder in this Magi Tower….

Fraser soaked up the information of the diary which once belonged to an acolyte named Greem.

No, it wasn’t an acolyte, it belonged to a Magi in his former acolyte days.

The difference wasn’t that big of a deal, but Greem became a Rank 1 Magi.

Knowing from his own experience that most of the people belonging to the howling abyss were apprentices and not Magi, he had to pay his respects to the Magi named Greem.

One of the factors was that Greem depicted the ritual of the Pathfinder in an extremely detailed way. Even the tiniest bit of detail like how to move your body or how to resonate with the Pathfinder was described in every way.

It didn’t take long before one of these workers found the corresponding hall for the Pathfinder.

If not for the diary, which Greem left behind, Fraser wouldn’t even be able to recognize the Pathfinder.

As the Pathfinder wasn’t an object, neither was is an artifact or some kind of special thing at all.

Instead, it was simply a grand hall that had a large circle in the middle of it.

Delicate runes and Nodes were covering the walls and the circle in the middle.

Looking around the lower basements of the tower, Fraser could see many of these grand halls which after reading the Diary became all potential Pathfinders.

Sadly, most of the grand Halls were damaged. Either the runes weren’t intact or some of the building materials were missing.

Thankfully, there were a couple of Pathfinders still intact. And after following the procedure of the diary to confirm whether or not the material was enough, Fraser chose one of the intact Pathfinders for himself.

He already could be considered a Level 2 Acolyte in the ancient Magi civilization as he could have stored a couple of spell models within his spirit.

Though right now, space was solely occupied by his insect servant spell mode and he didn’t have the time to create other spell modes.

The other spell model he had was Black Rope, but it was rather weak and Fraser wanted to choose something else. Since the spell models were only available in the headquarters of the howling abyss academy, Fraser couldn’t create another spell model in his consciousness.

But the insect servant spell model that came with the unknown insect, suited Fraser well. It was extremely powerful and one of the most versatile spell models he ever heard of.

So Fraser stepped into the middle of the circle with confidence.

An unknown language came out of Fraser’s throat and the hall became to vibrate. Not in the literal sense, but the energy within the hall began to vibrate.

The runes which were decorations began to flare up and emit a mysterious light.

An orb that seemed to be the eye of the circle began to shine upon Fraser.

The color of the orb was something that Fraser couldn’t decipher. It almost felt like the orb was without any color and instead reflected whatever color shone upon it.

Without any fear, Fraser continued his chant.

A small sense of excitement crept upon Fraser as he stopped his chant and sat down.

The runes began to shine even brighter and something akin to a barrier enveloped the circle in which Fraser was sitting.

Something weird happened to Fraser's senses as he felt as if he started to float.

Slowly but surely, his vision started to become weird as he saw how he left his physical body and started to ascent towards the colorless orb on the ceiling.

A small but visible string of spirit connected his consciousness and began to stabilize the entire process.

When the stabilization finished, a wormhole opened at the orb and runes formed around the wormhole as if guiding it.

Darkness overwhelmed Fraser as an unknown force sucked him into the wormhole.

A small string of spirit connected from his physical body to the orb at the ceiling, the barrier enveloping the circle still remained, but the runes and the wormholes disappeared.

The only thing that remained was a string that connected from the top of Fraser’s head to the unknown orb on the ceiling.

A small pattern could be seen on the former colorless orb. The pattern of a small centipede.

If Fraser could see the pattern, he would found it very similar to the yellow centipede that gave him the insect servant spell model.
